DESCRIPTION:Connect\, Share\, and Taste the Joy of Plant-Based Living!\n\n
\nJoin us on Thursday\, September 10\, 2026\, at 6:30pm for our monthly We
st Suburbs Vegan Potluck at the Base Camp coffee shop area of Unmapped Bre
wing Co. in Minnetonka. Let’s enjoy a fun\, plant-based gathering togeth
 er! \nWhether you’re a long-time vegan or just curious about plant-based
food\, you’re welcome to attend! This friendly\, low-pressure event is
the perfect place to try new dishes\, meet like-minded people\, and enjoy
the community. \nHow It Works\nPlease bring a fully plant-based dish to sh
 are. That means no meat\, dairy\, eggs\, fish\, or butter. Don’t forget
to include a list of ingredients for your dish\, and if you can\, bring yo
ur own plate and utensils to help reduce waste. \nSites for Ideas and Insp
iration\nNeed inspiration? There are so many delicious vegan recipes avail
able. CAA has a collection of plant-based recipes on our website. You can
also check out easy vegan potluck ideas from sites like Insanely Good Rec
ipes\, The Edgy Vegan\, and The Vegan Atlas. CAA also has monthly cook
ing classes and the Vegan Recipe Club which can support you in getting id
eas for future potlucks. \nA Monthly Event You Won’t Want to Miss\nOur W
est Suburbs Vegan Potluck happens every month\, bringing together communit
 y members who care about food\, health\, animals\, and the planet. It’s
a warm\, welcoming space to swap recipes\, share cooking tips\, and enjoy
an evening filled with great conversation and even better food. \nWest Sub
urbs Potluck in the News!\nEden Prairie News attended our February 13\, 20
25 potluck and wrote a wonderful piece about us. Check it out! \nGood for
  Animals\, the Earth\, and Your Health\nChoosing plant-based meals reduces
harm to animals\, but that’s not all. It also lowers your carbon footpr
int\, conserves water\, and supports a more sustainable food system. Plus\
, eating more fruits\, veggies\, legumes\, and whole grains is linked to b
etter heart health\, lower cholesterol\, and a reduced risk of chronic ill
ness. By joining our potluck and eating more plant-based meals\, you’re
doing something good for yourself and the world around you. \nHosted by Co
mpassionate Action for Animals\nThis event was developed and is hosted by
Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) volunteer Nicola Philpott. We get u
se of the space from the generous folks at Unmapped Brewing. It has become
a regular CAA event\, offering a great selection of tasty foods. \nCAA is
a Minnesota-based nonprofit dedicated to encouraging people to embrace th
eir empathy for animals and move toward a plant-based diet. Check out CAA
’s events to find a wide variety of activities to suit any taste. You c

DESCRIPTION:If you are curious about vegan cooking\, this club is for you!
Each month\, participants make three recipes from popular cookbooks then
share their reflections with the group. Novice to expert cooks are welcome
\, as are interested non-cooks. Registration for the online meeting is not
  required—get log-in information below. \nDownload the recipes here\nAbo
ut Great Bowls of Food: Grain Bowls\, Buddha Bowls\, Broth Bowls\, and Mor
e\nFrom the author’s website: \n“Bowl food” is booming\, whether you
are at a restaurant\, a food service\, or at home. It’s such a hot tren
d\, that according to food-industry consulting firm Technomic\, bowls hav
e seen a 29.7% rise in the entree category over the last five years. \nOf
course\, bowl food is not new\, but it is having a moment. \nWhen I was dr
eaming up this book\, I asked around. Many people that I know were already
doing bowl food\, for a multitude of reasons. There were the families wit
h kids\, where a peaceful meal was just easier when everybody piled their
chosen veggies and proteins on top of a bowl of grain or vegetable. There
were single people\, who assembled prepped and leftover foods into a bowl
and drizzled on a sauce\, so they could enjoy a varied meal without dirtyi
ng multiple dishes. There were couples with mixed diet-styles\, sharing a
bowl concept that could be customized without too much trouble. \n \nVegan
Recipe Club General Details\nThe Vegan Recipe Club is for everyone—thos
e curious about vegan cooking and those more experienced with it. The club
explores plant-based recipes created by cooks of varying cultures and nat
ionalities and cookbooks are suitable for the novice to experienced cook.
\nThis club aims to feature recipes that are great tasting and support the
health of participants. It’s a great way to explore great new recipes\,
work out issues in different recipes\, and to build community with others
interested in vegan cooking. Best of all\, these meals also help the anim
als and the environment! \nHow does it work?\nIn the month prior to the Ve
gan Recipe Club meeting\, you can download the recipes for free. You can
also request the entire cookbook from your local library. Try making one
or more of the recipes\, then come to share and discuss what you thought a
bout them with the group. \nThe group is facilitated by volunteer Henry Pa
tterson of Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA). If you have questions a
bout the recipes or the Vegan Recipe Club between meetings\, email info@e
xploreveg.org. \nJoin us online!\nThe club meets monthly on the third Tues
day of each month at 6:30 pm. Meetings are held via Zoom — see details
below. In July and October of 2026\, we will host an in-person potluck in
conjunction with the meeting. It will be in our new CAA office space whic

millions of readers every week. Published articles on animal issues reach
a broad spectrum of people. Writing is a way for animal advocacy to reach
people it never otherwise would. And\, most importantly\, coverage of ani
mal issues effectively raises public awareness and causes many readers to
reduce their consumption of animals and animal products. \nAbout Your Inst

\, education\, and nonprofit leadership for more than a decade. Julie’s
media strategy work has resulted in coverage with National Public Radio (N

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, October 11 for a special fundraiser to hel
p continue CAA’s shelter meal program into 2027. \nNicola\, who leads th
e meal program\, and Unny\, co-founder of Compassionate Action for Animals
(CAA)\, are hosting this gathering as we work toward raising $2\,000—on
e-third of the funding needed to expand our shelter meal program to three
 shelters next year. \nDetails\nDate:  Sunday\, October 11th\nTime:  12pm
  – 2:30pm\nLocation:  Nicola’s Eden Prairie home\, RSVP to receive th
e address \nRSVP HERE \nAbout the event\n\nGet an update on the current me
al program\, plans for the new year\, and how you can help make those plan
s a reality.\nConnect with supporters and shelter partners. (Optional get-
to-know you bingo game!)\nHear from shelter volunteers about their experie
 nces.\nEat a delicious\, plant-based lunch of dal\, rice and assorted vege
table dishes\n\nMore about the meal program\nCAA’s plant-based meal prog
ram started in collaboration with Simpson Housing Services\, a shelter for
people experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis.  Since January 2024\, o
ur volunteers have provided over 3\,000 meals at Simpsons.  Currently\, w
e serve 3 lunches every month and the resident chef has designated all Fri
day lunchtimes to be completely plant-based (even when we’re not there t
o prepare them). \nIn March 2026\, we expanded our meal program to include
a second shelter.  The Sojourner Project houses people victimized by dom
estic abuse.  Every month\, our volunteers prepare a healthy\, well-balan
ced\, crowd-pleasing dinner for them and the meals have received rave revi
ews! \nNext year\, we hope to expand our program to bring wholesome\, tast
y food to a third shelter. We need to raise $6\,000 to serve meals at all
three shelters. The more meals we cook\, the more time\, energy and funds
the staff of Simpsons\, Sojourner and others can devote towards housing\,
supporting and advocating for people in their time of need.  Help us cont
inue our work into 2027 by joining us at this fundraiser on October 11th!!
