DESCRIPTION:Join us on a guided hike to experience the autumnal equinox\,
which marks the beginning of astronomical fall in the northern hemisphere.
This day is celebrated across many cultures as a time for harvesting crop
s and being thankful for a bountiful growing season. \nDuring our hike\, t
he Sun passes directly over the celestial equator on its southward journey
precisely at 7:04 pm. This point in time is usually associated with 12 ho
urs of day and night\, and the tilt of the Earth’s axis is pointed neith
er directly at\, nor away\, from the Sun. As we hike\, we will observe how
the plants and animals around us are starting to prepare for the coming w
inter. \nLeading this hike is Director of Education Tom Finley. He has bee
n teaching at the Center for 25 years\, and enjoys hiking and sharing the
 significance of autumn in Wisconsin. \nMembers: $17 | Non-members: $23
