Since her solo debut at 14\, c oncerto performances have included engagements with the San Francisco Ball et\, National Ballet of Canada\, and National Repertory Orchestras\, as we ll as the Vancouver\, Quad City\, Burnaby\, and Kelowna Symphonies. In the Madison area she makes regular solo appearances with the Madison Symphony and the Middleton Community Orchestra.  \nNaha also maintains an active career as an orchestra musician. In addition to her duties as Concertmaste r of both the Madison and Quad City Symphony Orchestras\, past performance highlights include guest concertmaster appearances with the Oregon\, Omah a\, and Memphis Symphonies\, the San Francisco Ballet\, as well as the Cal gary and Louisiana Philharmonics\, among many others.  \nIn 2019 she will appear as guest concertmaster with the Chicago Philharmonic (in collabora tion with the English National Ballet) and will make her Australian debut in a concertmaster residency with the Australian Ballet in Melbourne. From 2011-2014 she maintained a partnership with the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto\, performing and touring frequently with the company as guest concertmaster and soloist. Additionally she has performed often with the C leveland Orchestra both domestically and abroad. She began her career in 2 007-2008 with the Louisiana Philharmonic and later with the Milwaukee Symp hony.  \nNaha has participated in music festivals throughout the US and E urope including Kneisel Hall (Maine)\, Taos (New Mexico)\, Spoleto (Italy) \, Lucerne (Switzerland)\, Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society (Wisconsin)\, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall. She is curren tly on artist faculty at Renova Music Festival (Newcastle\, Pennsylvania) and since 2012 she has been Artistic Director of Davenport\, Iowa’s Sign ature Series.  \nNaha studied with Donald Weilerstein and Joel Smirnoff a t Juilliard and with William Preucil at CIM. Other teachers have included Andy Dawes\, Akira Nagai\, and Judith Ingolfsson. She performs on a 1778 A ntonio Gragnani violin. The youngest contestant at 19 years old\, she took home two additiona l awards: Best Performance of Chamber Music (with the Takàcs Quartet)\, a nd Best Performance of a New Work. In 2006 Yang made her celebrated New Yo rk Philharmonic debut alongside Lorin Maazel at Avery Fisher Hall along wi th the orchestra’s tour of Asia\, making a triumphant return to her home town of Seoul\, South Korea. Yang’s subsequent appearances with the New York Philharmonic have included opening night of the 2008 Leonard Bernstei n Festival – an appearance made at the request of Maazel in his final se ason as music director. The New York Times pronounced her performance in B ernstein’s The Age of Anxiety a “knockout.”  \nIn the last decade\, Yang has blossomed into an “astonishing artist” (Neue Zürcher Zeitun g)\, showcasing her colorful musical personality in solo recitals and coll aborations with the world’s top orchestras and chamber musicians through more than 1\,000 debuts and re-engagements. She received the 2010 Avery F isher Career Grant and earned her first Grammy nomination (Best Chamber Mu sic/Small Ensemble Performance) for her recording of Franck\, Kurtág\, Pr evin & Schumann with violinist Augustin Hadelich (“One can only sit in m isty-eyed amazement at their insightful flair and spontaneity.” – The Strad). She has become a staple of the summer festival circuit with freque nt appearances on the programs of the Aspen Summer Music Festival\, La Jol la SummerFest and the Seattle Chamber Music Society.  \nOther notable orc hestral engagements have included the Chicago Symphony\, Los Angeles Philh armonic\, Philadelphia Orchestra\, San Francisco Symphony\, Deutsches Symp honie-Orchester Berlin\, the BBC Philharmonic\, as well as the Toronto\, V ancouver\, Sydney\, Melbourne\, and New Zealand symphony orchestras. She w as also featured in a five-year Rachmaninoff concerto cycle with Edo de Wa art and the Milwaukee Symphony\, to which she brought “an enormous palet te of colors\, and tremendous emotional depth” (Milwaukee Sentinel Journ al).   \nIn solo recital\, Yang’s innovative program has been praised as “extraordinary” and “kaleidoscopic” (Los Angeles Times). She ha s performed at New York City’s Lincoln Center and Metropolitan Museum\, the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C.\, Chicago’s Symphony Hall and Zu rich’s Tonhalle. In 2018\, Musica Viva presented Yang in an extensive re cital tour throughout Australia.   \nAs an avid chamber musician\, Yang has collaborated with the Takács Quartet for Dvořák – part of Lincoln Center’s Great Performers series – and Schubert’s “Trout” Quint et with members of the Emerson String Quartet at the Mostly Mozart Festiva l at Lincoln Center. Yang has fostered an enduring partnership with the Al exander String Quartet\, which continues in the 2018/2019 season with perf ormances in Davis\, Tucson\, San Francisco\, Dallas\, Aliso Viejo\, Rockvi lle and Seattle. Following their debut disc of Brahms and Schumann Quintet s\, their recording of Mozart’s Piano Quartets was released in July 2018 (FoghornClassics). Jerry Dubins of Fanfare Magazine wrote that the rendit ions were “by far\, hands down and feet up\, the most amazing performanc es of Mozart’s two piano quartets that have ever graced these ears.”    \nYang’s wide-ranging discography includes the world premiere recordi ng of Michael Torke’s Piano Concerto\, created expressly for Yang and co mmissioned by the Albany Symphony. Yang has also “demonstrated impressiv e gifts” (New York Times) with the release of Wild Dreams (Avie Records) \, on which she plays Schumann\, Bartók\, Hindemith\, Rachmaninoff\, and arrangements by Earl Wild. She recorded Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Denmark’s Odense Symphony Orchestra that International Record Re view called “hugely enjoyable\, beautifully shaped … a performance tha t marks her out as an enormous talent.” Of her 2011 debut album for Avie Records\, Collage\, featuring works by Scarlatti\, Liebermann\, Debussy\, Currier\, and Schumann\, Gramophone praised her “imaginative programmin g” and “beautifully atmospheric playing.”  \nIn 2018/2019\, Yang ha s focused on promoting creative ways to introduce classical music to new a udiences. She will serve as the Guest Artistic Director for the Laguna Bea ch Music Festival in California\, curating concerts that explore the “ar t-inspires-art” concept – highlighting the relationship between music and dance while simultaneously curating outreach activities to young stude nts.  Yang continues her unique collaboration with the Aspen Santa Fe Bal let with performances of Half/Cut/Split – a “witty\, brilliant explora tion of Robert Schumann’s Carnaval” (The Santa Fe New Mexican) choreog raphed by Jorma Elo – a marriage between music and dance to illuminate t he ingenuity of Schumann’s musical language. The group will tour in Aspe n\, Santa Fe\, Dallas\, Denver\, Scottsdale\, and New York.   \nAlso in 2018/2019\, Yang will share her versatile repertoire\, performing solo rec itals and performing 12 different piano concertos all throughout North Ame rica. Yang will reunite with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Edo De Waart for five concerts in New Zealand\, following up a successful 2017 c ollaboration in which Yang displayed “fabulous lyricism” and “assure d technique” (Otago Daily Times).    \nBorn in 1986 in Seoul\, South Korea\, Yang received her first piano lesson from her aunt at the age of f our. She quickly took to the instrument\, which she received as a birthday present. Over the next few years won several national piano competitions in her native country. By the age of ten\, she had entered the School of M usic at the Korea National University of Arts\, and went on to make a numb er of concerto and recital appearances in Seoul and Daejeon. In 1997\, Yan g moved to the United States to begin studies at the pre-college division of the Juilliard School with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky. During her first year at Juilliard\, Yangwon the pre-college division Concerto Competition\, res ulting in a performance of Haydn’s Keyboard Concerto in D with the Juill iard Pre-College Chamber Orchestra. After winning the Philadelphia Orchest ra’s Greenfield Student Competition\, she performed Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto with that orchestra at just twelve years old. Richardson performed the roles of Flower Maiden in Parsifal and Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music\, as well as covering the role of Mary Jane Bowser in Intelligence\, during HGO’s 2023-24 sea son. During the 2022-23 season at HGO\, she performed the roles of Annina in La traviata and Woman Whose Uncle Loved Maria Callas in Another City.  \nRichardson holds an Artist Diploma from  The Academy of Vocal Arts\, where she has sung Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème\, Foreign Princess i n Dvořák’s Rusalka\, the title role and Suor Dolcina in Puccini’s  Suor Angelica\, and Inès in Donizetti’s La favorite. She holds a Pro fessional Studies Diploma in Voice from the Cleveland Institute of Music\, where her roles included Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte\, Bé atrice in Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict\, and the title roles in Puc cini’s Suor Angelica and Cherubini’s Medea.  \nRichardson has been seen in several Pensacola Opera productions including Carmen\, La bohème\ , and The Pirates of Penzance. She was the recipient of an A. Grace Lee Mi ms Scholarship for Negro Spirituals and has been the soprano soloist in Be ethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Kennett Symphony and also Ocean City Pops. He finished his undergraduate studies at Georgia State Universi ty’s School of Music in May of 2023\, after which\, he joined the Sarah and Ernest Butler Studio at the Houston Grand Opera. During his two season s there\, he has received invaluable on-stage training in shows like Parsi fal\, Il Trovatore\, and La Bohème. For the ‘25/’26 season\, Demetrio us will conclude his time in the Studio by singing the principal roles\,  Sportin’ Life in Porgy and Bess\, Lennie in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men\, and The Witch in performances of Hänsel und Gretel. Additional ly\, he will make his role and company debut as Rodolfo in La Bohème with Austin Opera.  \nAs a young artist in his mid-twenties\, Mr. Sampson has been fortunate to train at some of the most prestigious summer young arti st programs over the past three years. In 2022 he was an apprentice artist at Des Moines Metro Opera\, where he prepared several scenes\, covered R obbins and performed the role of Crab Man in their production of Porgy an d Bess. For the Summer of 2023 he joined an elite cohort of young artist a t the highly acclaimed Merola Opera Program where he performed in their hi ghly reviewed song recital\, scenes program and the Merola Grand Finale on the War Memorial Stage at San Francisco Opera. The Summer of 2024 Mr. Sam pson made company and role debuts with Cincinnati Opera as Gastone in La T raviata and Wolf Trap Opera as a Filene Artist portraying the Kronprinz  in Silent Night by Kevin Puts.  \nDemetrious loves any opportunity to sha re music with an audience and he has found a special love for performing concert and recital repertoire. In 2023 he made his Kennedy Center debu t with the Washington Chorus. On this concert\, which commemorated the 60t h anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speec h\, he sang the tenor in Undine Smith Moore’s challenging yet poignantly gorgeous Scenes from the Life of a Martyr\, a work for which he was fortu nate to create\, in part\, the first commercially available recording of w ith the Eugene Concert Choir and Orchestra. In 2024\, Demetrious made his company and role debut as the tenor in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with t he Savannah Philharmonic. He has had a continuing relationship with the USC Thornton School of Musi c for over 25 years as conductor of the USC Thornton orchestras and a facu lty lecturer in conducting. In 2012\, he took on an expanded role as artis tic leader and principal conductor of the USC Thornton orchestras.    \ nThe 2022-2023 season marks his thirty-third year as music director of the Pacific Symphony. He is one of the longest-tenured conductors of the majo r American orchestras. St.Clair’s lengthy history solidifies the stron g relationship he has forged with the musicians and the community. His con tinuing role also lends stability to the organization and continuity to hi s vision for the symphony’s future. Few orchestras can claim such rapid artistic development as the Pacific Symphony—the largest-budgeted orches tra formed in the United States in the last 50 years—due in large part t o St.Clair’s leadership.  \nDuring his tenure\, St.Clair has become widely recognized for his musically distinguished performances\, his comm itment to building outstanding educational programs and his innovative app roaches to programming. In April 2018\, St.Clair led the Pacific Symphon y in its sold-out Carnegie Hall debut as the finale to the Carnegie’s ye arlong celebration of pre-eminent composer Philip Glass’s eightieth birt hday\, ending in a standing ovation and with The New York Times calling th e symphony “a major ensemble!” He led the Pacific Symphony on its firs t tour to China in May 2018\, the orchestra’s first international tour s ince touring Europe in 2006. These include William Bol com’s Songs of Lorca and Prometheus (2015-16)\, Elliot Goldenthal’s Sy mphony in G-sharp Minor (2014-15)\, Richard Danielpour’s Toward a Seas on of Peace (2013-14)\, Philip Glass’ The Passion of Ramakrishna (2012-1 3) and Michael Daugherty’s Mount Rushmore and The Gospel According to Si ster Aimee (2012-13). St.Clair has led the orchestra in other critically acclaimed albums including two piano concertos of Lukas Foss\, Danielpou r’s An American Requiem and Goldenthal’s Fire Water Paper: A Vietna m Oratorio with cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Other commissioned composers include Jam es Newton Howard\, Zhou Long\, Tobias Picker\, Frank Ticheli\, Chen Yi\, Curt Cacioppo\, Stephen Scott\, Jim Self (Pacific Symphony’s principal t ubist) and Christopher Theofanidis.  \nIn 2006 and 2007\, Carl St.Clair  led the orchestra’s historic move into its home in the Renée and Henr y Segerstrom Concert Hall at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The move came on the heels of the landmark 2005-2006 season that included St.Clair le ading the symphony on its first European tour—nine cities in three count ries playing before capacity houses and receiving extraordinary responses and reviews.  \nFrom 2008-2010\, St.Clair was general music director fo r the Komische Oper in Berlin. He also served as general music director and chief conductor of the German National Theater and Staatskapelle (GNTS ) in Weimar\, Germany\, where he led Wagner’s Ring Cycle to critical acc laim. He was the first non-European to hold his position at the GNTS\; the role also gave him the distinction of simultaneously leading one of the n ewest orchestras in America and one of the oldest in Europe.   \nIn 2014 \, Carl St.Clair became the music director of the National Symphony Orch estra in Costa Rica. His international career also has him conducting abro ad several months a year\, and he has appeared with orchestras throughout the world. He was the principal guest conductor of the Radio Sinfonieorc hester Stuttgart from 1998 to 2004\, where he completed a three-year reco rding project of the Villa–Lobos symphonies. He has also appeared with orchestras in Israel\, Hong Kong\, Japan\, Australia\, New Zealand\, South America\, China\, Thailand and Malaysia and in summer festivals worldwi de. In North America\, St.Clair has led the Boston Symphony Orchestra (w here he served as assistant conductor for several years)\, New York Philha rmonic\, Philadelphia Orchestra\, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Fra ncisco\, Seattle\, Detroit\, Atlanta\, Houston\, Indianapolis\, Montreal\,  Toronto and Vancouver symphonies\, among many.  \nCarl St.Clair is a strong advocate of music education for all ages and is internationally re cognized for his distinguished career as a master teacher. In 2024\, Elliott was name d a BBC New Generation Artist.  \nSterling’s long association with the Sphinx Organization began when he won the 2014 Junior Division Competition . The following year he went on to tour with the Sphinx Virtuosi before being awarded the Organization’s Isaac Stern Award in 2016. He became th e first alumnus from the Sphinx Performance Academy to win the Sphinx Co mpetition (in 2019). He later founded the Internation al Organ Festival/Academy in Barcelona\, the Sursa American Organ Competit ion in partnership with Moscow and served as organ consultant for both rel igious and civil institutions. \nHis global schedule takes him to major fe stivals and concert halls (from the Mariinsky Theater and Moscow House of Music in Russia to organ churches and cathedrals through Europe and the US )\, performances and lectures for universities and institutions (such as I ndiana University\, Baylor\, Moscow Conservatory\, Graz University\, and C hapters of the American Guild of Organists)\, collaborations in summer aca demies\, and as jury member at international competitions. \nAfter studies in Spain where he received the highest distinctions and awards\, Mr. Ram írez moved to Stuttgart on a scholarship from the German government to st udy organ performance with Ludger Lohmann. He is respected as a specialist in such disparate subjects as Spanish music\, historic keyboard technique s\, and modern symphonic transcriptions for the organ. Although long regarded as one of the world’s leading exponents of the mu sic of Frédéric Chopin\, Mr. Ohlsson commands an enormous repertoire\, w hich ranges over the entire piano literature. A student of the late Claudi o Arrau\, Mr. Ohlsson has come to be noted for his masterly performances o f the works of Mozart\, Beethoven and Schubert\, as well as the Romantic repertoire. To date he has at his command more than 80 concertos\, rangin g from Haydn and Mozart to works of the 21st century\, the most recent bei ng “Oceans Apart” by Justin Dello Joio commissioned for him by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and now available on Bridge Recordings.  \nFor the first time in its history\, the Chopin Competition has invited an Ame rican to chair the jury\, and Mr. Ohlsson assumes that role for the 19th i ncarnation in October 2025. He will then return as guest soloist to the Cl eveland Orchestra and National Symphony (DC)\, followed in the winter by a duo tour with violist Richard O’Neill which takes them from Los Angeles to Charlottesville (VA)\, St. Paul (MN)\, and New York’s 92Y. In solo  recital he can be heard in Vienna\, London\, Philadelphia\, and Chicago.   \nAn avid chamber musician\, Mr. Ohlsson has collaborated with the Clev eland\, Emerson\, Tokyo and Takacs string quartets. A tenacious young artist with a passion that enrap tures his audience in every performance\, Pouliot has established himself as “one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime” (Toronto Star). \nAs a soloist\, Blake’s 2025-26 concerto highlights inc lude a return to National Ars Centre Orchestra to open their season with M usic Director Alexander Shelley\, performing Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1. He will make debuts with the Illinois Symphony\, performing Rózsa ’s Violin Concerto with Music Director Taichi Fukumura\, and with Columb us Symphony. Additional concerto appearances include Rochester Philharmoni c\, as well as a tour with the Prague Philharmonia in Spain and the U.S.\, culminating with a performance at Carnegie Hall\, marking Blake’s Stern Auditorium debut. He continues to expand his presence abroad\, performing with the Enescu Philharmonic in Romania and with Symphony Nova Scotia. HeartStrings is th e MSO’s innovative program designed to address the physical\, emotional\ , cognitive\, and social needs of children and adults with disabilities\, long-term illnesses and assisted living needs. To bring live music to thes e individuals in structured and meaningful ways\, the Rhapsodie Quartet pr esents monthly\, music therapy-informed sessions from September through Ma y at partner locations that embrace these populations\, reaching nearly 4\ ,000 individuals annually. \nThrough ongoing relationships with special ed ucation and rehabilitation programs at south-central Wisconsin state insti tutions\, retirement communities\, and health care facilities\, HeartStrin gs serves a diverse population of varying needs and ages. The program enha nces participants’ quality of life by using musical experiences as dynam ic forces of change in specific communication behaviors and existing physi cal and cognitive conditions. The program brings meaningful arts experienc es directly to participants in a comfortable and familiar setting\, provid ing a valuable resource for facilities that serve these participants and a n opportunity for caregivers to mutually interact in uplifting\, enjoyable and engaging experiences with their clients.
