 s\, but as an economic force? \nA new report from the Center for Nonprofit
  Management (CNM) and the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LA
 EDC) Institute for Applied Economics offers a different view. Drawing on I
 RS Form 990 filings\, Bureau of Labor Statistics data\, and input-output m
 odeling\, the report examines 27\,916 active nonprofit organizations acros
 s Los Angeles County and measures the sector’s contributions to employme
 nt\, economic output\, labor income\, and public revenue. \nThe findings m
 ake the scale of the sector clear: nonprofits contribute approximately $18
 5.6 billion in economic output\, support an estimated 1.16 million jobs\, 
 and generate approximately $28 billion in federal\, state\, and local tax

 ’t start with budgets and spreadsheets — it started at home. Long befo
 re anyone learned to read a balance sheet\, they absorbed a money story: b
 eliefs about debt\, risk\, saving\, and what it means to be “good with m
 oney\,” shaped by race\, class\, culture\, and generational experience. 
 Nobody sits you down and teaches you this story. You just learn to carry i
 t\, usually without realizing that’s what you’re doing. \nThis virtual
  seminar\, hosted by CNM in partnership with BDO\, starts by putting that 
 story into words instead of pretending it doesn’t belong in a profession
 al development conversation. Most nonprofit leaders carry real fear around
  finances\, and it isn’t a personal failing that needs to be managed alo
 ne\; it comes from actual structural conditions\, and it’s worth saying
