DESCRIPTION:Curated by Rosten Woo\, LA’s Garden explores the hidden stor
ies rooted in the beauty of Descanso Gardens. \nWhile our 150 acres offer
 a natural escape\, they also hold a deep\, living history. \nDiscover who
shaped our collections and landscapes\, why they look the way they do\, an
d how they continue to change. The exhibition brings history to life by pa
iring archival maps\, documents\, and vintage photographs with contemporar
y artistic perspectives. \nAt Descanso\, the history of the plants is the
history of the people. From the ancient stewardship of indigenous communit
ies to the legacies of Japanese-American nurserymen and visionary voluntee
rs\, every plant tells a story of human passion and resilience. \nThe exhi
bition is open at the Boddy House from July 18–November 29\, 2026\, 10am
–4pm daily. \nEntry to the Boddy House is included in the price of admis
 sion or membership. \n\nSpecial Programs \n\nJuly 17\, 5–7pm — Opening
  Reception\nJuly 18\, 11am–12pm or 1pm–2pm — Curator Tours\n\n\nLA
’s Garden is generously funded\, in part\, by Perenchio Foundation and a
n endowment from Heather Sturt Haaga and Paul G. Haaga\, Jr.

DESCRIPTION:Water has long shaped life in Japan. As an island nation surro
unded by the sea and nourished by abundant rainfall\, Japan depends on wat
er for its fertile landscapes and rich food sources. \nIn contemporary Jap
anese art\, water continues to be a powerful theme.  \nSound of Water: Fe
minine Expressions of Fluidity features paintings\, prints\, and sculpture
s by six Japanese women artists: Emiko Aida\, Miya Ando\, Yumiko Glover\,
Mineko Grimmer\, Yuko Kimura\, and Ayomi Yoshida. \nTheir works explore w
ater’s many moods and manifestations —serene and soft\, yet also power
ful and unpredictable—inviting us to consider our own relationship with
this essential element as we face climatic extremes throughout the world.
\nThe exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Japanese Garden at
Descanso Gardens and is curated by Japanese art historian Meher McArthur.
\nThe exhibition is open at the Sturt Haaga Gallery from June 20\, 2026
 –January 3\, 20276\, 10am–4pm daily. \nView the catalog \nEntry to the
