DESCRIPTION:Big change rarely happens because of one person or one organiz
ation. It happens when people unite around a common objective\, build rela
tionships\, recognize opportunities\, and transform innovative ideas into
tangible actions. The ethos of KC 360 subcommittees is that we are stronge
r together. Subcommittees give KC 360 participants a place to move beyond
conversation and get to work. They gather individuals with diverse experie
nces\, expertise\, and viewpoints to tackle specific challenges and opport
unities\, crafting practical solutions that enhance Kansas City neighborho
 ods. \n \n \n \n \n \n
 	\n \n What Are KC 360 Subcommittees?We have established four s
 ubcommittees focused on community safety\, opportunity\, and well-being. T
he action that Kansas City needs cannot be achieved through our weekly one
-hour KC 360 meetings alone. Subcommittees allow us to concentrate efforts
on specific areas where collaboration can make a real difference. Partici
pants identify needs\, exchange ideas\, form partnerships\, set priorities
\, and create action plans. This structure transforms ideas into actionabl
e steps. In 2025\, 596 individuals representing 296 organizations have att
ended a KC 360\, and 106 individuals have been involved in our subcommitte
es. An additional 473 individuals have attended workshops hosted by KC 360
subcommittees. These included two Criminal Justice 101 workshops\, a trau
ma response training\, Business 360 Marketing Workshop\, and multiple Lunc
h and Learns. Currently\, KC 360 features subcommittees dedicated to: Comm
 unity-Police RelationsYouth EmpowermentCommunity Care 360Business 360Each
subcommittee has distinct focuses and objectives\, yet they share a common
belief: thatstronger communities are built through partnership\, trust\,
and collective action. Why Subcommittees MatterCommunity challenges are co
mplex. Issues such as public safety\, youth well-being\, economic opportun
ity\, relationships with the justice system\, and community healing are in
terconnected\, and no single organization or sector can address them alone
. Subcommittees foster a collaborative environment where community members
 \, organizations\, businesses\, faith leaders\, educators\, public systems
\, and concerned citizens work together\, ensuring that those closest to t
he challenges are involved in finding solutions. Moreover\, subcommittees
promote accountability. A promising idea gains strength when there are ind
ividuals willing to ask: What are the next steps? Who else should be invol
ved? What actions can we take? Who has done this before? How will we measu
re success? From Ideas to ActionThe work within a subcommittee often start
 s with a conversation. A participant might highlight a challenge\, another
brings a different viewpoint\, a partner shares resources\, and the group
identifies a gap\, prompting them to consider possible actions. From thes
e discussions\, ideas evolve into specific goals and action steps connecte
 d to partnerships and resources. \n \n \n \n
 																	\n \n \n \n For instance\, the Youth Emp
owerment Subcommittee aims to link families with resources that help youth
thrive safely and empower them to prevent and interrupt violence. Its mem
bers address pathways to violence by: Enhancing community understanding of
the justice system and improving navigationof its complexities.Investigat
ing barriers to program participation and school attendance.Emphasizing co
 nflict resolution and de-escalation strategies.Establishing a Youth 360 Bo
ard of Advisors for youth aged 13-18 to provide insights on how to better
support young people and their families. The Community-Police Relations Sub
committee utilizes a multi-tiered engagement model to encourage collaborat
ion between KCPD and community partners\, which includes: Participation du
ring KC 360 meetingsShifts in mindset\, knowledge\, and communicationActio
n items such as:Community presenceConflict resolutionCultural competencyTr
ust-building initiativesRestorative justice trainingEducation on the crimi
nal justice systemThe Community Care 360 Subcommittee focuses on fostering
a safe and harmonious community where neighbors empower one another to le
ad meaningful lives. Their initiatives include spiritual-based grief suppo
rt\, providing faith leaders with resources to better serve their congrega
tions\, and ensuring a visible faith presence in local neighborhoods.
 				\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
Business 360 showcases how the business community can actively en
gage in public safety and neighborhood opportunities. Its mission involves
collaborating with businesses to enhance public safety\, expand workforce
opportunities\, and support thriving neighborhoods across Kansas City. Th
e action plan outlines clear goals for broadening the business network\, e
ducating businesses about shared responsibility for public safety\, activa
ting them in workforce and youth engagement\, and promoting neighborhood e
 conomic development. \n \n \n \n
 					\n \n \n \n Everyone Has Something to ContributeSubc
ommittees are structured around the concept of partnership because collabo
rative work is essential to build stronger relationships throughout Kansas
City. You don’t have to be an expert to get involved. Whether you have
 a professional skill\, a neighborhood connection\, an idea\, personal expe
rience\, or simply a willingness to listen and assist\, your input is valu
able. How to Get InvolvedIf you care about the future of Kansas City\, the
re’s a place for you at the table. Start by identifying the issue that r
esonates most with you: Interested in strengthening relationships between
communities and law enforcement? Explore our Community-Police Relations Su
bcommitteeWant to help young people and families thrive? Check out our You
th Empowerment Subcommittee.Interested in assisting in healing\, faith com
munities\, and neighbors affected by violence? Look into Community Care 36
0.Eager to help businesses become partners in public safety and neighborho
od investment? Consider Business 360.You can also start by attending a KC
360 meeting to connect with other participants and discover where your exp
eriences and interests can make the most significant impact. Your Idea Cou
ld Be the Next ActionEvery action plan has to start somewhere. It might be
 gin with a question\, a concern from a neighbor\, a connection between two
organizations\, or a belief to create positive change. Subcommittees offe
r the framework needed to transform that initial thought into a collaborat
ive project. Moving the needle forward isn’t always easy. You need to be
willing to be persistent through barriers\, and pivots\, momentum loss\,
and needing to start over\, but you’ll get to work alongside a group of
people who are just as hopeful as you are. If you have an idea\, a skill\,
a connection\, or simply a passion for helping to create safer\, stronger
\, and more connected neighborhoods\, we welcome you to join us. Bring you
r voice. Bring your ideas. Bring your eagerness to act\, and together\, we
can turn ideas into actions and those actions into a lasting impact on ou
r community. To learn more\, reach out to our KC 360 Coordinator\, Julia K
esarwani\, at julia@kccommongood.org and see our Community Calendar for su
 bcommittee time and location information.
