DESCRIPTION:American Football\nIndie Rock \nThe quietest voices don’t ju
st endure — sometimes they deepen. \nFor a band once defined by understa
tement\, American Football has become something increasingly rare: one who
se stature has grown less by nostalgia than through patience\, self-interr
ogation and the long view. Since reuniting in 2014 after a decade-plus dor
mancy\, American Football hasn’t simply returned to its past. It has mov
ed forward in parallel with its audience\, writing music that reflects the
disorientation\, compromise\, grief and hard-won perspective of middle ag
 e. \nIts fourth self-titled album (LP4) is the clearest and most satisfyin
g expression of that evolution yet. It’s simultaneously the band’s dar
kest and most playful\, its most complex and — paradoxically — its mos
t generous. Throughout\, LP4 stares matter-of-factly at despair while refu
sing the comforts of melodrama or easy resolution. \nIndeed\, on “Patron
Saint of Pale\,” frontman Mike Kinsella proposes playing Rock Paper Sci
ssors with his soon-to-be ex-wife as a way to avoid signing their divorce
papers. And on the gripping\, eight-minute “Bad Moons\,” he jokes abou
t actually being two little kids disguised in a trench coat rather than a
flesh-and-blood 40-something dad of two teens\, before the reality of the
situation can no longer be avoided: “I lost my mind in the dark / I told
all my lies in the dark / I poured my drinks in the dark / I explored new
kinks in the dark\,” he sings\, his voice seemingly cracking at times u
 nder the cold\, hard truths.

DESCRIPTION:Infusing Oklahoma roots with the untamed energy of a rebel roc
ker\, Sony Music Nashville’s Corey Kent has made a career of stretching
sonic bounds and standing on conviction. But with new trust in his instinc
ts and the buzz of two career-caliber hits-in-the-making\, his third major
label country album marks a breakthrough. \nAuthoritatively titled Heartl
and Rock and Roll\, the scrappy singer-songwriter creates a sound so defin
itive\, it needed a new name. Golden-hour nostalgia meets gratitude and gr
it in a mellow\, slow burn of raspy country soul\, and it hasn’t gone un
noticed. Kent’s rugged single “Rocky Mountain Low (feat. Koe Wetzel)
” is climbing radio charts faster than any previous release\, while the
gusty “Empty Words” escaped its deep-cut fate to become a viral sensat
ion. To the now-seasoned creative force\, the word epiphany comes to mind.
\n“I don’t know why it wasn’t more obvious to me sooner\,” Kent s
ays. “Like\, ‘Dude\, your path is not going to look like everybody els
e’s path\, and your decisions aren’t going to look like everybody else
’s either.’ I’ve been fighting my differences for so long\, but now
 it’s like\, ‘Let’s just use those.’” \nThe lesson didn’t come
easy. Rising from the dancehalls and dive bars around his home in Bixby\,
Oklahoma\, Kent describes his early Nashville career as a “dogfight\,”
battling for every inch of progress. Inspired by Springsteen and CCR as m
uch as Strait or B&D\, he was famously forced to move home and work for a
paving company in 2020\, before returning with an organic hit (and a chip
on shoulder) for his 2023 debut\, Blacktop. His sophomore album Black Band
ana carried that same underdog spirit\, and so did a series of hard-won vi
ctories. \nSlowly\, methodically\, Kent has earned two Number Ones at coun
try radio to date – including the 3X Platinum “Wild As Her” and Gold
-certified “This Heart\,” which took over a year to reach its 2025 pea
 k. Add that to a Platinum certification for “Something’s Gonna Kill Me
” (that one took two years)\, and Kent now counts over 1 billion career
streams and an international fanbase\, built on headline tours and support
for Morgan Wallen\, Jason Aldean\, and others. All of it came the hard wa
y\, with Kent having to prove the mettle of his unorthodox vision. But he
now says there’s “beauty in a slow build.” Drawing on the confidence
of experience\, and emboldened by a sense of personal peace\, he’s spen
t the last two years weaving Heartland Rock and Roll into a defining body
of work. \n“If you’re an artist\, you hope to have that record – the
one that when people think about you\, they think about that record\,”
the rising star explains. “When I think about Eric Church\, I think abou
t Chief. When I think about Chris Stapleton\, I think about Traveller. The
y’re a stamp in time and they live on their own\, and I’ve always hope
d to have one. For the first time in my career\, I feel like I do.” \nNa
med in a purposeful nod to its divergent nature\, 16 tracks revel in Kent
’s differences. Forever blurring the line between country\, rock\, and s
oul\, smoke-and-sunset vocals guide Kent through a series of vivid\, salt-
of-the-earth small-town soundtracks. Dusky sonics drift off into the Midwe
stern night\; warm distortion brings back the perfection of summer\, circa
way-back-when\; and crushing grooves capture the pain of a broken heart.

ons like Pepe Aguilar\, who is also part of a family dynasty\, showcases a
true generational blend of Musica Mexicana legacies. These shows bring re
cognition for an artist who is gracefully bridging the past and future of
the genre. \nLupita studied Ethnomusicology at UCLA and joined the school
’s renowned Mariachi de Uclatlán\, which is the oldest university maria
chi in the United States with an over 50-year trajectory. Studying ethnomu
sicology gave Lupita the chance to rediscover Pedro Infante’s legacy thr
ough the works of academics: “I would write about Mexican music and rese
arch women in mariachi music\, and study machismo in Mexican music and how
that translated through my grandfather. I think that was a lot more inter
esting than if I had majored in vocal performance.” To pay her tuition\,
she worked as a Lyft driver. She graduated from UCLA in 2017. “I was dr
iving for Lyft to be able to pay my bills. I knew I wasn’t the kind of p
erson who was going to be stuck in an office\, even though it meant sacrif
icing that security.” \nDespite Lupita coming from an iconic lineage\, s
he has overcome boundaries to achieve commercial and critical success with
in her career. As a 2x GRAMMY@ nominee\, Lupita Infante is solidifying her
place as a leading female face in Musica Mexicana\, while simultaneously
becoming one of the most critically adored Musica Mexicana artists of the
new generation. \n—\nLa aclamada cantante y compositora méxico-american
