DESCRIPTION:Put the phone down for a morning and step outside — nature h
as a way of putting us right back in the moment. Join Timucuan Parks Found
ation for Birding 101\, a beginner-friendly introduction to the wonder of
birding\, right here in our own backyard. \n\n\n\nThis is birding for ever
yone — every background\, every experience level. Whether you’ve never
picked up a pair of binoculars or you already know your warblers from you
r wrens\, all are welcome\, just as you are. Our hope is simple: that you
leave a little more enchanted by the natural world than when you arrived.
\n\n\n\nWe’ll cover the basics — how to use a field guide\, get comfor
table with the Merlin Bird ID app (including Sound ID)\, and hold a pair o
f binoculars for the first time. We’ll also introduce BirdCast\, a tool
used to forecast bird migration in real time\, and talk about what it tell
s us about the birds passing through Jacksonville along the Atlantic Flywa
 y. Then we’ll head out together for a guided walk to put it all into pra
ctice — there’s something truly mesmerizing about slowing down enough
to really see and hear what’s already around us.   \n\n\n\nThis worksho
p is designed for adults\, age 18+. We will have another Birding 101 dedic
ated specifically for young children and youth in the future.   \n\n\n\nW
 hen: Saturday\, September 12 · 8:30–11:00 AM \n\n\n\nWhere: Kathryn Abb
 ey Hanna Park\, Jacksonville\, FL \n\n\n\nCost: $10 Members / $20 Non-Mem
bers \n\n\n\nPlus — everyone who attends is automatically entered into a
free raffle for a chance to win a fun bird-themed prize! \n\n\n\nBinocula
rs will be provided\, but if you have your own\, feel free to bring them a
long. Just wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing — the
birds are already out there waiting. Let’s be amazed together. \n\n\n\n
