  Rapson for an evening of stargazing! Youth will gather at Boname Park to 
 spot constellations\, the moon\, and stars in the night sky while learning
  fun facts about astronomy and the objects above us. This hands-on program
  is a great opportunity to explore space science and enjoy the outdoors af
 ter dark. Please note that is weather or sky conditions are not ideal for

 l University Library exhibition Rivers of Ice traces the evolving study of
  glaciers through rare books\, illustrations\, maps\, and photographs. Fro
 m eighteenth-century descriptions of Alpine and Icelandic snowfields to mo
 dern analytical techniques\, items on view reveal how scientists\, explore
 rs\, and photographers have studied glaciers to better understand Earth’
 s geological and climate history. Covering about 10 percent of Earth’s l
 and and storing 70 percent of its fresh water\, glaciers have become key i
 ndicators of climate change. Drawing from the library’s Rare and Manuscr
 ipt Collections\, the exhibition features photographs from James Balog’s
   Extreme Ice Survey (2007–2022)\, along with items from professor of ge
 ography and geology Ralph Stockman Tarr’s pioneering expeditions to Gree
 nland and Alaska (1896–1911)\, highlighting Cornell University’s contr
 ibutions to modern glaciology. \n\nRivers of Ice will be on view in the Di
 vision of Rare and Manuscript Collections’ Hirshland Exhibition Gallery 
 through August 2027. Rivers of Ice is part of a series of exhibits titled 
 From the Brink: Contributions to a Sustainable Future from across Cornell\

 rth—is under grave threat from the impact of our own activity\, and biol
 ogists are raising the alarm about accelerating rates of decline in the pl
 ant and animal species of our world\, with sobering implications for the l
 ong-term health and well-being of human communities. But if we are the mai
 n drivers of biodiversity decline\, we also have the power to change the t
 rend. \n\nOrganized by Cornell University Library\, Going to Gone features
  illustrations from historical studies of our natural world found in the l
 ibrary’s collections and reflects on the looming possibility of a “Six
 th Extinction” on Earth. The exhibit identifies some of the key factors 
 behind the decline of animal species in the 21st century. It also highligh
 ts emerging research insights and conservation efforts to give us hope and
  conviction that preserving the biodiversity of our beautiful planet is wi
 thin our grasp.\n\nThis exhibit is concurrent with related exhibits at Man
 n Library: Last Call: Bird Decline and the Threat of Extinction\, and Keep
 ing Common Birds Common: Birds and Habitat at Cornell Botanic Gardens and

 rth—is under grave threat from the impact of our own activity\, and biol
 ogists are raising the alarm about accelerating rates of decline in the pl
 ant and animal species of our world\, with sobering implications for the l
 ong-term health and well-being of human communities. But if we are the mai
 n drivers of biodiversity decline\, we also have the power to change the t
 rend. \n\nOrganized by Cornell University Library\, Going to Gone features
  illustrations from historical studies of our natural world found in the l
 ibrary’s collections and reflects on the looming possibility of a “Six
 th Extinction” on Earth. The exhibit identifies some of the key factors 
 behind the decline of animal species in the 21st century. It also highligh
 ts emerging research insights and conservation efforts to give us hope and
  conviction that preserving the biodiversity of our beautiful planet is wi
 thin our grasp.\n\nThis exhibit is concurrent with related exhibits at Man
 n Library: Last Call: Bird Decline and the Threat of Extinction\, and Keep
 ing Common Birds Common: Birds and Habitat at Cornell Botanic Gardens and 
 Beyond. \n\nJoin us for an opening celebration for these exhibits  on Thur
 sday\, April 16\, with a lecture by Cornell Lab of Ornithology researcher 
 Jordan Boersma on "Finding Hope in the Search for Lost Birds" at 4:00 p.m.
  in Mann Room 160\, and a reception at 5:00 p.m. in the Mann Library Galle
