DESCRIPTION:SUI SENSUS PARADOXUM is an exhibition interested in self-perce
 ption\, identity\, and the factors that contribute to them. Viewers find t
 hemselves in a vulnerable space of reflection\, surrounded by surrealist d
 istortions of humanity. The hope is to garner introspection\, empathy\, an
 d a greater appreciation for connection through difference.\n\nExhibiting 
 Artists\nTalen Harrintgon\, Anastasia Kondratenko\, Andrew Mo\, and Alisia
  Wucetich (all B.F.A. ’29) are a small group of B.F.A. students in the C
 ollege of Architecture\, Art\, and Planning at Cornell University collabor
 ating on the curation and realization of SUI SENSUS PARADOXUM. Collectivel
 y\, they are emerging artists whose work has been recognized through natio
 nal and international awards and exhibitions. Their practices span paintin

DESCRIPTION:The devastation of the natural world through climate change\, 
 pollution\, urban sprawl\, and the accelerating extinction of plant and an
 imal species has prompted a wave of urgent musical responses in recent yea
 rs. \n\nMusic of the Natural World: Cornell Composers on Nature\, Ecology\
 , and Climate features scores\, videos\, and sound recordings of works ins
 pired by endangered creatures and fragile habitats. The exhibit showcases 
 music by current and former Cornell students and faculty\, including the e
 legiac orchestral work Silent Spring (2011)\, by the late Pulitzer Prize w
 inner and Cornell faculty member Steven Stucky\; and High Water Rising for
  Wind Ensemble (2017)\, by local composer and Cornell alumna Sally Lamb Mc
 Cune\, which depicts the threat of rising sea levels. \n\n \n\nMore inform

DESCRIPTION:Seeing Ithaca\, August 2026 \nThe State of the Art Gallery wil
 l be sponsoring “Seeing Ithaca: Through the Eyes of Artists” for the f
 ourth year. It will take place in galleries and artist studios during the 
 month of August\, 2026 and is a celebration of art and artists in the Itha
 ca area. \nThe State of the Art Gallery members will each show Ithaca insp
 ired work in the gallery and many will have invited guests show with them.
   A special feature this year is a wall dedicated to school children who h
 ave been part of the gallery’s outreach program.  Students from Belle Sh
 erman\, Beverly J. Martin\, and Ithaca High School will display their art 
 in the gallery. That inclusion is always very popular with parents and fri
 ends of the young artists. \nThe Gallery will host several special events 
 during the month.  First Friday Gallery Night is August 7th\, 5-8 P.M. Thi
 s event usually attracts hundreds of visitors. The monthly “Look Club”
  will take place on Sunday\, August 16th\, 2-3 P.M. at the gallery and is 
 open to all to join the discussion of how to really look at art. The Ithac
 a Garden Club will have a special collaboration in the gallery over the we
 ekend of August 21-23 (12-5 each day) to celebrate “Art in Bloom”. Thi
 s event is an opportunity for garden club designers to create an arrangeme
 nt that reflects the essence of their chosen piece of art on the walls. Th
 is has become a very popular weekend to share the creativity of the floral
  arrangers. \nOn August 29th from 12 to 5 pm\, many artists\, listed on th
 e website\, will open their working studios to the public\, and visitors c
 an have a deeper look into their art making process. Studios are located t
 hroughout Tompkins county. The State of the Art Gallery will be open that 
 afternoon as well\, with several gallery members available for informal ar
 t talks.  \nWe have a dedicated website\, seeingithaca.org \, that lists a
 ll the galleries involved with this project as well as all the artists wit
 h open studios. The other galleries that will be celebrating this event ar
 e The Gallery at South Hill (950 Danby Road)\, Danby Gathery Art Works (17
 74 Danby Road) and the Mink Gallery (614 N. Cayuga Street). \nThe organize
 rs are hoping not only to have great displays of the art\, but also to get
  artists and art lovers to meet and expand the liveliness and community of
  all of Ithaca.
