DESCRIPTION:Get ready to roll into summer fun with Pedal & Play\, a free\,
family-friendly bike ride designed for all ages and abilities. These mont
hly rides are all about building confidence on bikes\, discovering how fam
ily-friendly and bikeable the city can be\, and connecting with other bike
-minded families. It’s a great way to burn off energy\, spark a little a
 dventure\, and make lasting memories—one ride at a time. \nEvery 2-2.5 h
our ride will show how to safely navigate the Indianapolis Cultural Trail
and adjoining greenways while highlighting some playful stops- like a play
ground\, splashpad or family-friendly attraction- along the way to keep ki
ds engaged. Pedal & play is offered on May 16\, June 20\, July 18\, August
15\, and September 19 at 10 AM. The ride is FREE\, but registration on Ev
entbrite is required. Whether riding independently or with an adult\, it
’s a great way for families to explore downtown by bike! \nBiking Option
s\nBring Your Own Bike: Children are welcome on their parents bikes via bi
ke seats\, trailers\, tagalongs\, or cargo bikes. Kids riding their own bi
kes should be able to ride 3–10 miles with stops to rest and follow both
trail etiquette and traffic laws under adult supervision. Helmets for all
riders are strongly encouraged. \nPacers Bikeshare for Adults: We will ha
ve a limited number of Pacers Bikeshare bikes for adults that may need one
for each ride. Pacers Bikeshare is complimentary for Annual\, IndyRides F
 ree\, and Butler\, members\, and available to rental for non-members for $
 25. Those wanting a Pacers Bikeshare must register for one ahead of time o
n Eventbrite with appropriate ticket\, be 18 years old\, and sign the addi
tional waiver. Helmets can be borrowed from the Indianapolis Cultural Trai
 l. \nAdaptive Bikes: Unable to ride or not comfortable on a traditional tw
o-wheel bike? Pacers Bikeshare offers a variety of adaptable bikes that ca
n be reserved. However\, reservations for an adapable bike must be complet
e 48 hours in advance of ride. \nRide Information \nPedal & Play is a fami
ly-friendly group ride that welcomes all paces and experience levels. Each
week the ride route will change\, but it will utilize trails\, cycletrack
s\, and other safe bike infrastructure. Low-traffic\, bike-friendly roads
may be used as needed. Participants should feel comfortable riding for up
to 10 miles at a casual\, conversational pace and in a group ride setting.
Approximately 1 hour will be biking with a roughly 30-45 minute of breaks
to play and rest. Kids riding their own bike will need to be able to bike
3-10 miles with stops\, practice good trail etiquette\, and follow traffi
c laws. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \nRegistration \nSpa
ce is limited and registration is required for every rider. Kids riding on
their adult’s bike do not have to register\, but those riding on their
own should reserve a ticket so we can manage group size. Please be sure to
register for the date(s) you are able to attend and for the appropriate t
icket type . A waitlist will be available if the event ‘sells out.’ We
politeley ask you only register if you can attend and if your plans chang
