DESCRIPTION:Glasgow’s workplace culture is about to get a lot more activ
 e. On Saturday 5th September 2026\, the Glasgow Industry Cup® brings toge
ther employees and local businesses from across the city for a first-of-it
s-kind inter-industry padel competition. \nHeld at Racket Barn in Govan\,
the Glasgow Industry Cup® sees teams representing their industry go head-
to-head across a World Cup-style format — group stages followed by a kno
ckout bracket\, played across three courts throughout the day. So far\, fi
ve industries have confirmed their place in the competition: Law\, Finance
 \, Emergency Services\, Professional Learning & Development\, and Marketin
g & Sales\, with individuals and pairs from different companies signing up
to represent their sector. \nThe idea behind the event is simple but powe
rful: work culture needs more genuine connection\, and play is one of the
fastest ways to build it. Rather than networking over another coffee meeti
ng or conference panel\, participants meet on the padel court — competin
g\, laughing\, and connecting with people from completely different indust
ries and companies across Glasgow. \nPadel is one of the fastest-growing s
ports in the UK\, known for being easy to pick up regardless of experience
level\, sociable by nature (played in pairs)\, and genuinely fun for comp
lete beginners and seasoned players alike. No prior experience is needed t
o take part — rackets and balls are included as part of your ticket. \nW
hether you’re taking part to represent your company\, meet new people in
Glasgow’s business community\, or simply try something new with colleag
ues\, the Glasgow Industry Cup® offers a fresh\, energetic alternative to
the usual work social. \nThe Glasgow Industry Cup® is organised by Corpw
ellnessplay\, a Glasgow-based company focused on bringing workplace wellne
ss to life through play and sport.

DESCRIPTION:BOOK LAUNCH: Come What May We’re Here to Stay w/ Author Taj
Ali \nJoin Glasgow Trades Council for the launch of Taj Ali’s new book
‘Come What May\, We’re Here to Stay’: The story of South Asian resis
tance in Britain. Author Taj Ali will be in conversation with Laura Webste
r\, Editor of The National. Their conversation will be followed by an audi
ence Q&A and book signing. \nThursday 24th September \n18:30| Adelaide Pl
 ace Baptist Church\, 209 Bath Street\, Glasgow \nTickets– https://www.e
 ventbrite.co.uk/e/book-launch-come-what-may-were-here-to-stay-w-author-taj
-ali-tickets-1998134244313?aff=oddtdtcreator \n* Funds raised from ticket
sales will go towards the anti-racist campaigning work of Glasgow Trades C
ouncil. \nAs British South Asians reel from the riots of summer 2024\, thi
s book tells the inspirational story of how the community organised agains
t racism in the past and how it continues to fight in the present. \nBriti
sh South Asians have a long tradition of radical political activism. The 1
970s and 1980s saw the community grappling with prejudice in the workplace
and violence in the streets. But this history is deeper than you might th
ink\, from students agitating for independence at the heart of the British
Empire to seafarers organising global strikes on the eve of the Second Wo
rld War. \nTaj Ali reveals how successive generations fought for rights\,
dignity and a sense of belonging while actively shaping the country they n
ow call home. He shows that British South Asian political life has often b
een defined less by religious difference than by shared commitments to ant
i-imperialism and anti-racism. In pursuit of these goals\, alliances have
been forged with other movements\, from Irish republicanism to Black Power
. \nAs racism rears its ugly head again\, ‘Come What May\, We’re Here
to Stay’ asks are we are doomed to repeat the past or will we learn from
our mistakes and build a better world together? \nTaj Ali is a journalist
and historian. He is the former editor of Tribune and regularly appears a
s a commentator on the BBC\, as well as contributing to the Guardian\, Al
Jazeera English and others. For his work on hate crime and Islamophobia he
was chosen as a finalist for the 2026 Orwell Prize.

DESCRIPTION:A unique concert will take place at the cosy Saint Luke’s\,
Glasgow\, on 29th of November. \nJoin us for an evening featuring the famo
us Antonio Vivaldi cycle «The Four Seasons» in the unique interpretation
of contemporary composer Max Richter\, performed by the extraordinary Mys
tery Ensemble. \nMax Richter is the composer of music for dozens of featur
e films and documentaries. The European Film Academy voted him the best fi
lm composer in 2008. He reinterpreted Antonio Vivaldi’s music in the spi
rit of minimalism and postmodernism. Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi\,
The Four Seasons is one of Richter’s most famous works. After its releas
e in 2012\, the recording topped the iTunes Classical Music charts in over
20 countries. \nMax Richter has recorded 12 solo albums and performed at
the London Barbican\, the Paris Philharmonic\, the Sydney Opera and the Am
sterdam Concertgebouw\, and among his projects are the Sum Opera and the I
nfra ballet (choreographed by Wayne MacGregor) at Covent Garden. Richter
’s music is heard in many performances around the world\, as well as in
 the films «Shutter Island» by Martin Scorsese\, «Last Love on Earth» b
y David Mackenzie\, and «Waltz with Bashir»\, for the soundtrack to whic
h he received the award «Best Composer» from the European Film Academy.
\nThe Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi is one of the most famous and freque
ntly performed works of classical music. The Italian master wittily and gr
acefully captured in music the way his contemporaries saw the world and na
ture. The Vivaldi cycle is both a philosophical reflection on a magnificen
 t illustrated «calendar» and a «sightseeing tour» of Italy.
