  to the city.  \n\n\n\nFrom the bustle of Sauchiehall Street to quiet and
  leafy back streets\, this bohemian enclave is full of surprises and has b
 een home to many remarkable women who have made Garnethill one of the most
  exciting cultural and multicultural hotspots in Glasgow. \n\n\n\nGet a fl

 o crosses Garnethill Park where there are steps. This is a hilly area and 
 some sections are steep whilst not all pavements have banisters. Our guide

 festival we will be launching this season’s programme on Friday morning

 mance.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorking with the music collection\, and tapping into
  the GWL ‘hive mind’\, artist Ruth Ewan has been researching the rich 
 social and political histories contained in song. She has brought a collec
 tion of these materials together to form A Feminist Jukebox of People Tryi
 ng to Change the World for everyone at GWL to enjoy. \n\n\n\nTo celebrate 
 this work and the culmination of the We Make Museums: Sustaining and Chang
 ing Worlds exhibition we have invited selected artists featured in the Ju
 kebox\, for a one off eclectic afternoon of live music and song spanning
  centuries of lyrical feminist storytelling. We’re delighted to confirm 
 that Debbie Armour (Burd Ellen)\, Frankie Armstrong\, Rubie and Farzane Za
 man will all be performing a live specially curated selection of songs alo
 ngside their contributions to the Jukebox. There will also be refreshments
  and light snacks and a last chance to see Ruth’s artwork alongside the 
 other beautiful exhibits created by Sohaila Baluch and Alixandra Prybyla w
 ith an array of collaborators. \n\n\n\nThis event is kindly supported by T
 he Paul Hamlyn Foundation \n\n\n\nAbout the artists\n\n\n\nDebbie Armour. 
 Photo by Amelia Reid\n\n\n\n   Debbie Armour is a traditional singer     a
 nd artist. She uses British and international traditional song as a founda
 tion to build conceptual works and explore tradition in a contemporary set
 ting. Debbie has recently completed residencies and commissions for hcmf/
 /\, Bothy Project and Scottish International Storytelling Festival. \n\n\n

 g has sung professionally in the folk scene and the women’s’ peace mo
 vements since the 1960s.  She pioneered community voice workshops in 1975
  being fascinated by the way that voice can enhance the individual’s sen
 se of well-being and also develop a sense of community. Frankie has made 1
 2 solo albums\, as well as featuring on numerous shared recordings and has
  written extensively on voice. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRubie. Photo by Erin Holly
 \n\n\n\nRubie is a musician based in Glasgow. Her glam inflected\, alt-pop
  songwriting paints vivid pictures of the present apocalypse\, political s
 truggles and queer mutual aid networks. She also works as a composer\, sou
 nd designer\, and tours playing keyboards with songwriter Jacob Alon. \n\n
 \n\nFarzane Zamen. Photo by Najma Abukar.\n\n\n\nFarzane Zamen is a music 
 producer\, guitarist and songwriter from Iran who is based in Glasgow. As
  a co-worker at Glasgow Women’s Library\, she was helping with the insta
 llation of Ruth Ewan’s exhibition when she was invited to share one of h
 er songs to be added to the exhibition’s jukebox. She chose a protest so
 ng she had recently written\, dedicated to those who lost their lives in t
 he brutal massacre in Iran in January 2026. \n\n\n\nRuth Ewan cleaning a r
 ecord\n\n\n\nAbout the artistRuth Ewan is an artist whose varied works enc
 ompass installation\, writing\, creating environments\, events and objects
 . She works with found materials\, archives and collaborators to produce r
 esearch-based artworks\, working in response to site\, context and communi
 ties. Her works explore alternative systems of knowledge and creativity as
  a tool for social and environmental justice. Her project\, A Feminist Juk
 ebox of People Trying to Change the World\, developed for Glasgow Women’
 s Library\, presents an interactive vinyl jukebox containing popular and l
 esser known songs\, recorded over the last 100 years\, which foreground fe
 male lived experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom Memory to Stage: Bringing Teen

 r flat paths through Glasgow Green. The walk is at a gentle pace and a fla
 t route\, led by GWL tour guides with stops all along the way to find out 
 about women’s heritage in the East End. \n\n\n\nIf you’d like to speak
  to someone about the walk in advance and let us know your access needs\, 
 please contact us – we are happy to answer any questions. \n\n\n\nLarg
 e print versions of the tour guides’ scripts are available on the day. \
 n\n\n\nUnfortunately we can only accept support dogs on the walk. \n\n\n\n

 t price which you can afford. All proceeds from ticket sales go to resourc
 ing our work to celebrate women’s lives and achievements\, and provide a
 ccessible and inclusive learning opportunities.
