 ION \nOur Good Friday concert this year views the events of Christ’s Pas
 sion through two lenses: Old Testament prophecy and New Testament narrativ
 e. The two central works which give the concert its title are both by Germ
 an composer\, theorist\, writer and poet Christoph Demantius (1567–1643)
 : Weissagung des Leiden und Sterben Jesu Christi\, and Johannespassion. Th
 is Passion setting is the last and finest example of the “motet” passi
 on\, and combines ancient style with innovative and colourful treatment of
  the text. Interspersed in between will be vocal works for solo voices by 
 Hammerschmidt\, Schein\, Schütz and Scheidt. Collegium will be joined for
  this performance by six singers from Resurgam\, harp (Siobhán Armstrong)
