 :00pm in St. Oliver’s Community College\, Drogheda (A92 D766). \nAlannah
  Thornburgh is an award-winning instrumentalist and composer from the wild
  west of Ireland with a focus on traditional Irish harp. Alannah’s music
  explores her family heritage\, reimagining melodies from the Irish harpin
 g and American folk & jazz traditions. This cross-genre interaction and ju
 xtaposition of old melodies with contemporary harmonies and technique is i
 nterwoven throughout her music\, described as being ‘unforced\, fluid an
 d utterly at home in her own sound’ (The Irish Times). In February 2025\
 , Alannah released her debut album ‘Shapeshifter’ – a collection of 
 compositions inspired by fairy folklore & mythology in rural Ireland (“S
 ublime debut from Mayo composer” 9/10 – Hot Press). Alannah was awarde
 d ‘Best Folk Instrumentalist’ at the 2025 RTÉ Folk Awards and was als
 o awarded Musician-In-Residence at Carnegie Library\, Fingal County Counci
 l / Music Network where she composed a suite entitled ‘The Thinning Veil
 : Haunting Tales & Tunes of Fingal’. Alannah also received the Tradition
 al Arts Bursary 2025 for her collaborative compositional project ‘An t-A

DESCRIPTION:Join textile weaver Jean Moran for a live demonstration of t
 raditional weaving and yarn spinning using a floor loom and spinning wheel
 . Visitors will have an opportunity to try weaving and spinning for themse
 lves and learn about the rich history of weaving in Ireland\, the Claddagh
  Shawl\, and related textile traditions. \nJean Moran is a textile weaver 
 and a 2014 graduate of Centre for Creative Arts and Media at ATU Galway. I
 nspired by Ireland’s textile heritage\, she has developed her own interp
 retation of the traditional Claddagh Shawl. \nOn display during the event 
 will be two Claddagh Shawls woven by Jean in 2026 on her floor loom using 
 Donegal yarn from Kilcar. Woven in soft beige and fawn tones\, with white 
 patterned borders and tasselled finishes\, these contemporary interpretati
 ons celebrate the craftsmanship and legacy of this distinctive textile tra
 dition. \nNo booking required – simply drop in anytime between 12pm and 
 2pm. All materials will be provided. \nSuitable for all ages
