DESCRIPTION:Associate Curator of Contemporary Art\, Sara Garzón will lead
a discussion covering two readings that focus on the significance of wate
r in contemporary art. Attendees will explore Astrida Neimanis’s concept
of hydrofeminism alongside Lisa Blackmore’s notion of the hydrocommons\
, examining how artists engage water as a cosmopolitical medium that recon
figures relationships among bodies\, territories and more-than-human world
 s. A tour of the exhibition Layered Lives will further consider what Black
more describes as the “liquid turn” in contemporary art and its implic
ations for artistic research. The two brief readings are provided here and
are excerpts from Lisa Blackmore’s “Art for the Hydrocommons: Rethink
ing Human-Water Relations in Latin America” (pg. 24 – 44) and “Hydro
feminism: Or\, On Becoming a Body of Water” (pg. 85 – 99). The program

DESCRIPTION:About the book:Off The Couch is the story of what happens when
service becomes a habit instead of an assignment. It traces a path from t
he discipline of the United States Air Force to the messy\, hopeful work o
f building startup ecosystems in places that were told they’d never have
one.Along the way\, Robert unpacks the practical machinery of resilience:
how to keep moving when the plan collapses\, how to turn data and hard tr
uths into better decisions\, and how to build the kind of network that cat
ches founders before they fall.Part memoir\, part playbook\, this book (ht
tps://robertblacklidge.com/off-the-couch) is written for the person still
sitting on the couch — the veteran in transition\, the founder waiting f
or permission\, the community leader wondering whether one person can move
an entire ecosystem forward. The answer\, gathered across hundreds of pit
 ches\, mentors\, and midnight launches\, is yes.About our speaker:Robert B
lacklidgeRobert Blacklidge is an educator\, technology strategist\, and ve
teran with over twenty years of experience spanning military service\, ent
erprise data architecture\, and academic leadership. As a startup mentor a
nd ecosystem builder\, he has guided over 100 founders through venture val
idation and scaling. Read more here. (https://robertblacklidge.com/off-the
