DESCRIPTION:When\nEvery Saturday 10:45 – 12:15 \n  \nAbout the Event\nT
ranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) is a gentle yet profound meditati
on practice rooted in the earliest teachings of the Buddha\, as taught by
the late Bhante Vimalaramsi. It combines tranquility (samatha)\, insight (
 vipassanā)\, mindfulness\, and loving-kindness (mettā) to cultivate a re
laxed\, joyful\, and deeply aware mind. \nAt the heart of TWIM is the 6R
Process—a simple and practical method for working with distractions\, le
tting go of habitual reactions\, and returning to a state of ease and clar
ity. Rather than suppressing thoughts or forcing concentration\, TWIM teac
hes practitioners how to recognize and release craving and tension\, allow
ing the mind to naturally settle into deeper states of peace and collected
ness\, including the jhānas. \nThe six steps of the 6Rs are: \n\nRecogniz
e when the mind has become distracted.\nRelease the distraction without
judgment or resistance.\nRelax the subtle tension in both the body and mi
nd.\nRe-smile to bring lightness\, kindness\, and balance back to the pra
ctice.\nReturn to the meditation object\, usually the feeling of loving-k
indness (mettā).\nRepeat the process whenever the mind wanders.\n\nThrou
ghout the event\, participants will learn how loving-kindness naturally de
velops into the Four Divine Abodes (Brahmavihāras)—loving-kindness\, co
mpassion\, appreciative joy\, and equanimity. As these wholesome qualities
deepen\, the practice also provides direct insight into Dependent Origina
tion\, helping practitioners see the impersonal nature of thoughts\, feeli
ngs\, and habitual reactions. Through this understanding\, craving gradual
ly weakens\, leading to greater freedom\, peace\, and the gradual ending o
f suffering. \nThis event is suitable for both beginners and experienced m
editators. Whether you are new to meditation or looking to deepen an exist
ing practice\, TWIM offers a practical path for cultivating lasting inner
peace and wisdom in everyday life. \n  \nAbout the Facilitator\nRoss Deig
hton has been exploring meditation and the path of inner development for m
ore than twenty years. During that time\, he practiced a variety of medita
tion traditions and studied with different teachers\, always seeking a dee
per understanding of the mind and the causes of suffering. \nIn 2022\, Ros
s was introduced to Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM). Through reg
ular practice and guidance from experienced TWIM teachers\, including his
first 10-day retreat\, he found an approach that brought greater ease\, cl
arity\, and a deeper understanding of the Buddha’s teachings. The emphas
is on loving-kindness\, relaxation\, and direct insight resonated deeply w
ith him and continues to shape both his practice and daily life. \nRoss is
passionate about sharing TWIM in a way that is welcoming\, practical\, an
d grounded in the original teachings of the Buddha. He enjoys supporting o
thers as they discover for themselves the possibility of greater peace\, w
isdom\, and freedom through consistent practice. \nOutside of teaching med
itation\, Ross enjoys playing music with friends\, dancing\, helping to ru
n a small family business\, and exploring practices that cultivate awarene
ss and wellbeing\, including enlightened communication\, Qigong\, and Nei
Gong within the Taoist tradition. \n  \nAccessibility\nThe Wellspring Roo
m is fully accessible. \nThe Salisbury Centre’s kitchen door and toilet
are now wheelchair accessible. The Garden can also be accessed by wheelcha
irs via a movable ramp via the Art Room Annex. Please let the organisers k
now in advance of any access requirements. Additionally\, if relevant\, pl
ease fill in this PEEP template and share it with the organisers. \n  \nC
ost & Booking\nThis event is by donation. \nPlease contact Ross Deighton o
n 07724741487 or rossdeighton@hotmail.com to book or for more information.

DESCRIPTION:Dates\nWednesdays in September \n8.30 – 10.00 \n  \nAbout t
he event\nA nourishing space for activists and changemakers to resource th
emselves and reconnect with their purpose \nAs someone who’s serious abo
ut making a change in the world\, you constantly run the risk of burnout.
\nConfronting a sense of doom. Waves of helplessness and hopelessness. Lac
k of sleep. Frustration with the people you’re trying to help. Spending
hours doing grassroots work that can seem like it’s getting nowhere. \nT
hese are just a few challenges that activists and changemakers face on a d
aily basis. \nBut what if\, midweek every week\, you gave yourself time to
: \n\nconnect with yourself and your mission\nspend a few moments walking
barefoot on the ground\nhave a deep\, compassionate conversation with othe
rs who are walking a similar path?\n\nThis is what the Midweek Mindful Mor
nings are about. For five weeks in September (and possibly beyond!)\, I wa
nt to create a space that supports you. Pausing every Wednesday for 90 min
utes and taking time out to connect to what matters. \nLet’s see if this
  actually makes a difference\, shall we? \n  \nWhat to expect + practical
ities\nWe meet in The Salisbury Centre Library on Wednesday mornings\, fro
 m 8:30 – 10:00. \nEach session will consist of some time connecting to y
ourself\, to Nature in the garden\, and then sharing what’s on your hear
t and mind with others. \nAll activities are optional. At any point\, you
can choose to opt out and take yourself out of the space to be on your own
. We’ll talk more about that in the room. \nThe first 10 minutes are for
arrivals and settling in\, and the doors will close at 8:40 sharp. You wo
n’t be able to join after this time. This may sound harsh (I know delays
easily happen while commuting at this time of day!)\, but this is to prot
ect a sense of groundedness and safety in the group once we start. You’r
e welcome to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier to give yourself a moment to lan
d / buffer time. \nBooking (at least the evening before) is recommended as
places are limited to 12 participants. You may also drop in\, and if ther
 e’s a free spot\, you’ll be most welcome! \nPlease book via Eventbrite
(link at the bottom of the page) or by emailing hello@martabrzosko.com \n
\nGroup agreements\nWe will mention these at the beginning of each sess
ion. Three non-negotiable agreements I’d like us to follow are: \n\nConf
identiality: What you hear here\, stays here\nHonour Yourself: Be proactiv
e when it comes to communicating your needs\, boundaries\, and consent (or
lack thereof)\nHonour Another: Practice positive regard for others\, list
en to each other\, be mindful of assumptions\, respect other people’s ne
eds and boundaries\n\nAt the beginning of each session\, we will take a mo
ment to hear out any access needs that may be present. \n  \nAbout the fa
cilitator\nMy name is Marta Brzosko\, and I’ve been facilitating connect
ion events\, workshops\, and courses in Edinburgh and online since 2020. I
work as an Office Administrator at The Salisbury Centre\, and I am curren
tly training as a Transformative Conflict Facilitator with Navigate. \nMy
approach is informed by Buddhist philosophy\, mindfulness & compassion\, n
on-violence\, and looking for balance between the individual and collectiv
e needs. You can read my musings on these topics in my newsletter Connecti
on Hub. \nFor more information about me\, check out my website: https://ma
 rtabrzosko.com/ \n  \nAccessibility\nThe Library is wheelchair accessible
. The Garden is wheelchair accessible via a ramp in the Art Room\, so is s
ubject to Art Room availability during our session. Usually\, it is availa
ble at this time of day. \nThe Salisbury Centre’s kitchen door and toile
t are wheelchair accessible. Please let me know in advance of any access r
equirements by emailing hello@martabrzosko.com. Additionally\, if relevant
\, please fill in this PEEP template and share it with me in advance. \nFo
r more information about accessibility and getting to The Salisbury Centre
\, please check this page. \n  \nBooking & cost\nThis event is offered on
a donation basis as a community event at The Salisbury Centre. This means
no one will be turned away for financial reasons. \nI am able to offer tw
o free spots for those who can’t donate a minimum of £1. If you require
  a free spot\, please let me know at hello@martabrzosko.com \n  \nIf you
’re able to contribute\, please make a donation of your choice\, guided
by this sliding scale. \n£7 – concession for students\, unemployed\, un
paid carers\, people with disabilities\, and anyone who isn’t financiall
y comfortable right now \n£12 – sustainable ticket for those who are co
 mfortably covering their basic needs \n£15+ – a pay-it-forward ticket i
f you’re financially comfortable and would like to contribute to someone
else’s concessioned ticket. \nPlease book via Eventbrite if you can –
booking link below. Refunds up to 1 day before the event. \n  \nA hot dr
ink and pastry will be provided\, along with facilitated activities. \nAll
donations will be split 50:50 between the facilitator and The Salisbury C
entre. You can donate via Eventbrite\, bank transfer\, and/or by cash on t
he day. Please DO NOT donate via the card machine in The Salisbury Centre
 hallway. \n  \nBook Here

DESCRIPTION:Symbolic Space is a novel approach to exploring and developing
the self. This circle is offered through The Salisbury Centre’s communi
ty programme. \nParticipation in a Symbolic Space Circle allows individual
s to experience a way of exploring their intentions and connections with t
he self and the world. \nA Symbolic Space Circle offers an opportunity to
 explore a relationship with a creative\, spiritual\, or everyday-life situ
ation\, a goal\, or an intention\, using bodily awareness and movement in
space. This may help activate forms of perception\, association\, and proc
essing that are not easily available to conscious thinking alone. \nThe ci
rcle begins with a grounding exercise. Then an individual or group intenti
on is formulated. Sharing an individual intention with the circle is optio
nal. \nEach session is adapted to the formulated intention(s). Guidance fo
r a session consists of prompts or a series of simple\, non-suggestive que
stions. Usually\, the goal is to externalise the intention and the situati
on surrounding it\, and to explore a relationship with them through feelin
g into bodily sensations\, becoming aware of any images and associations c
oming to mind\, working with provided objects\, and/or moving through the
space of the room. The process might be individual or involve a group dyna
mic\, depending on the intention(s). \nOptional sharing is done throughout
  the session. \n  \nFacilitator\nEkaterina Shurkova\, PhD\, facilitates t
his circle as a volunteer at The Salisbury Centre. She developed the Symbo
lic Space approach\, drawing on her background in cognitive neuroscience a
nd her interest in how people connect with the world: how we learn\, play\
 , communicate\, solve problems\, and change our minds. \nIn this circle\,
Ekaterina brings together creative problem solving\, relational ways of se
eing\, and the role of symbols\, metaphors\, and spatial awareness in refl
ective practice. \n  \nPractical Information\nThe circle is limited to 6
participants. Please make sure to book your place through Eventbrite. \nPl
ease arrive on time. As the session begins with grounding\, the door will
close a few minutes after the start time. Unfortunately\, late arrivals ca
nnot be admitted once the session has begun. \n  \nDetails\nWhen: 9 July
 – 24 September\, fortnightly on Thursdays\, 15:00-17:00 \nHow to attend:
please book your place via the Eventbrite link \nRoom: Studio \n  \nCont

DESCRIPTION:When:\nFridays 14:00-14:30 \nAbout the Event:\nXiang Gong (Fra

r\, learned when she lived in China for a year. It was very cold where Mar
garet lived and she felt that Xiang Gong helped her energy circulation and
keeping warm. The people who taught Margaret\, asked her to take health a
nd happiness back to her country. \nXiang Gong is a 20 minute sequence of
14 different arm movements\, guided by a soundtrack (original from China).
Margaret (and a few other experienced volunteers) will demonstrate the m
ovements. It is suitable for all capabilities\, it can be done sitting or

  August: 15:00 – 17:00\n11th September: 14:30 – 16:30\n25th September:
15:00 – 17:00\n\n\nA playful\, and spontaneous exploration of the livin
g\, ever-changing landscape of our bodies and surroundings. Together\, we
nurture a collective awareness\, allowing movement to flow naturally and i
ntuitively. \nDuring this 2 hours session we will have a playful\, creativ
e and nourishing time. We explore somatic movement practice (BMC®)\, expl
oring our relationship with gravity\, anatomy\, and the environment . Thro
ugh these experiences\, we aim to cultivate ecological embodiment\, and a
shared sense of community rooted in our connection to the natural world. O
ur approach is centered on creating a safe\, welcoming\, and inclusive spa
ce for all. \nA caring space where we listen deeply—both inward and outw
ard experiencing our bodies and natural environments as continuous\, relat
ional living systems (Ecological embodiment). It’s a joyful journey that
honors the spontaneous flow of life and our interconnectedness within the
web of ecology and community. Throughout this journey\, we apply movement
  approaches rooted in Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s Body-Mind Centering® \,
engaging with the body’s living systems and consciousness in an embodie
d exploration. \nIn this term guests Daniela Polic (Ecologist\, PhD at Lin
néuniversitetet ) and Dia Karim (Somatics and Healing Arts Practitioner)
will join us. They will share their practice and co-facilitate the session
s with Monica. \nThis term is very special\, created in collaboration with
Dani and Dia\, unfolding as a shared journey\, a gentle process of discov
ery and transformation. Together with Dani\, we will explore processes suc
h as metamorphosis and phenology—observing the recurring rhythms of life
in plants and animals—guiding us to attune to the natural world’s sub
tle signals. With Dia\, we will delve into themes of emergence and belongi
ng\, fostering a deeper connection to ourselves and the ecosystems we are
part of. \nEach session stands on its own\, welcoming you to drop in whene
ver it feels right\, yet we invite you to consider booking the full term t
o immerse yourself fully in this interdisciplinary exploration of self and
surroundings. To encourage this\, we offer a special gift: if you book fi
ve sessions\, one will be on us. 🙂 \nJoin us on this journey of growth\
, awareness\, and interconnectedness! \nQuote from participant: ‘Really
enjoyed the mixture of structured/ led movement and free flow. The overall
structure of the 2 hours worked really well\, allowing us to connect with
ourselves and feel safe and comfortable before beginning to explore share
d touch and movement\, and connect with each other. Thank you for facilita

\nOutside of teaching med
itation\, Ross enjoys playing music with friends\, dancing\, helping to ru

urself. Whether you’re a seasoned sauna goer\, a surfer fresh off the wa
ves\, or someone who’s never tried sound before\, you’re welcome here.
\nThe session begins with a short guided meditation to help you arrive an
d settle. From there\, you’ll be led through a sound journey using a ran
ge of instruments. Deep vibrations\, gentle rhythms\, and moments where yo
u can fully switch off and let the heat\, sound\, and breath drop tension\
, quieten mental noise\, and help you feel more spacious in your own skin.
\nThe combination of sauna and sound is powerful but deeply grounding. Th
e heat softens the body\, while sound supports the nervous system to shift
into rest and awareness. \nOnce the sound journey comes to a close\, you
’re welcome to step down to the cove for a cold dip… a refreshing cont
rast that brings circulation alive and feels especially great after the he
at and sound. \nFinally\, we’ll be warming up together around the fire\,
sharing a cup of ceremonial cacao\, taking space to land\, chat\, and int
egrate the experience. \nNo experience with sound journeys\, breathwork\,
 or cacao is needed.
