DESCRIPTION:18 to 27 September\, 11am to 5pm\n\nOpening event: Thursday 1
 7 September\, 6-8pm\n\nEveryone welcome! \n\nJi Yoon Lee is a multidiscip
linary artist. This new work examines how digital technology impacts our b
odies\, exploring the tension between the physical and virtual realities\,
as well as the profound sense of absence.\n\nCeramic body fragments resem
ble shed clothing\, a crouched figure is painted trapped within a grid\, a
nd virtual body modification services created using AI programmes\, vividl
y expose the fractures that digital media technology inflicts on our perce
ption.\n\n"As we grow accustomed to the relentless speed of technology\, o
ur bodies by comparison\, increasingly feel like a burden or frustrate us.
Media technology paralyses our senses with dazzling performances that lea
ve us no room to breathe\, ultimately rendering us addicted."\n\nThis new
body of work is generously supported by a VACMA (Visual Arts and Crafts Ma
kers Awards) bursary and the ESW Members Exhibiting Bursary from Edinburgh
  Sculpture Workshop.\n\nSee you there!

DESCRIPTION:This consultation seeks your views on various proposed changes
to registration requirements which will further strengthen the SSSC’s (
Scottish Social Services Council) ability to deliver their public protecti
on functions. These changes are: \n\nmandating the registration of three n
ew groups of social service workers with the SSSC\, following findings fro
m the SSSC’s consultation on New Registered Groups. These groups are s
ocial work assistants\, workers in adult day care services and workers in
offender accommodation services. This will mean that anyone working as a s
ocial work assistant\, worker in adult day care services or worker in offe
nder accommodation services in Scotland will have to be registered with th
e SSSC.\nmandating that all social workers working in Scotland are registe
red with the SSSC\nupdating the list of organisations which a social servi
ce worker can be registered with\, which excludes them from the requiremen
t to be registered with the SSSC.\n\nMore information can be found here:

DESCRIPTION:Symbolic Space is a novel approach to exploring and developing
the self. This circle is offered through The Salisbury Centre’s communi
ty programme. \nParticipation in a Symbolic Space Circle allows individual
s to experience a way of exploring their intentions and connections with t
he self and the world. \nA Symbolic Space Circle offers an opportunity to
 explore a relationship with a creative\, spiritual\, or everyday-life situ
ation\, a goal\, or an intention\, using bodily awareness and movement in
space. This may help activate forms of perception\, association\, and proc
essing that are not easily available to conscious thinking alone. \nThe ci
rcle begins with a grounding exercise. Then an individual or group intenti
on is formulated. Sharing an individual intention with the circle is optio
nal. \nEach session is adapted to the formulated intention(s). Guidance fo
r a session consists of prompts or a series of simple\, non-suggestive que
stions. Usually\, the goal is to externalise the intention and the situati
on surrounding it\, and to explore a relationship with them through feelin
g into bodily sensations\, becoming aware of any images and associations c
oming to mind\, working with provided objects\, and/or moving through the
space of the room. The process might be individual or involve a group dyna
mic\, depending on the intention(s). \nOptional sharing is done throughout
  the session. \n  \nFacilitator\nEkaterina Shurkova\, PhD\, facilitates t
his circle as a volunteer at The Salisbury Centre. She developed the Symbo

DESCRIPTION:24.09.26\, 6-8pm. Free. For 18-30s.  \nInviting participants
to respond to Eva Rothschild’s sculpture series Soft Play and film Safe\
, 2026\, this porcelain handbuilding workshop will make use of intuitive a
nd embodied sculpting methods to create playful\, abstract sculptures.  \
nWe often associate porcelain with fragility\, as well as a gendered and r
acialised performance of femininity. But in its wet clay state\, it is sof
t\, slippery\, and highly malleable. Drawing on Rothschild’s thinking ab
out gendered modes of engaging with objects in public space\, we’ll shap
e and stretch wet porcelain to create emotional artefacts of ‘gender per
formance’ and bodily experience. We’ll think about queerness\, masculi
nity\, and femininity\, finding potential for gender disobedience and play
in experiencing the soft and slippery. \nAs tactility comes to the fore\,
participants are encouraged to respond more to feeling than an attempt to
create pre-existing forms\; the potential structural collapse of these ob
jects can become interesting stories to tell\, too. At the end of the work
shop\, we’ll stage a mini exhibition of our work\, plotting our objects
in space together.  \nThis workshop especially welcomes queer and trans p

DESCRIPTION:24.09.26. 6.30–8pm \nAn evening to discover and celebrate th
e incredible body of visual and sound poetry by Edwin Morgan\, much of whi
ch is rarely seen and will now be available in this significant new volume
from Reaktion Books. This new selection reveals Edwin Morgan’s groundbr
eaking multimedia poetics beyond his celebrated lyric voice. With editors
Greg Thomas and Julie Johnstone\, poets Iona Lee and Dan Power\, and Morga
 n’s publisher\, bibliographer and friend\, Hamish Whyte. \nEdwin Morgan
is best remembered as Scotland’s foremost national poet\, a bold\, lyric
voice who shaped conversations around queerness\, politics and post-war l
ife. But Morgan was also a restless experimenter working far beyond tradit
ional verse. This book brings together\, for the first time\, the full ran
ge of his visual and sound poetry – from vibrant poster poems and surrea
list collages to concrete poetry\, cut-ups and sonic permutations. It reve
als Morgan as a major figure in twentieth-century multimedia art\, linking
language\, image and sound in surprising and timely ways. Attuned to ques
tions of identity\, ecology and empire\, Morgan’s work remains as urgent
and inventive as ever – a celebration of poetic form at its most expans
 ive and alive. \n–––––––––––––––––––

n can be found on Instagram @therealdanpower\, or at danpower.xyz. \nAdva
nced reviews: \nEdwin Morgan’s is the kind of poetry I want. A Home in
Space is a multiverse chock full of concrete word-patterning\, sound-ups a
 nd cut-ups\, galaxies and constellations\, collages\, overlays\, typograph
ic arrays\, acoustic riffs\, lettrist elations and noncesensical confabula
 tions\, graphic designs\, ur-computer inventions\, and iconoclastic ads an
d icons. Greg Thomas and Julie Johnstone’s detailed\, historically infor
mative\, and discerning introduction sets the stage for Morgan’s verbo-v
 isual-vocal – patalexical! polychromatic! – lollapalooza of a book.\nC
harles Bernstein\, Donald T. Regan Professor Emeritus of English and Compa
rative Literature\, University of Pennsylvania \nThis eagerly awaited stud
y is a veritable triumph. Greg Thomas’s fine introduction ranges seamles
sly over the intricate details of Morgan’s multifaceted career as a poet
. The decision to reproduce many of the poetic texts in the versions that
Morgan himself devised enhances the book’s historical importance.\nSteph
en Bann\, Emeritus Professor of History of Art\, University of Bristol\, a
nd editor of Concrete Poetry: An International Anthology (1967) \nA Home i
n Space is a fantastic presentation of the extensive work of the Scottish
visual/concrete poet Edwin Morgan. Greg Thomas and Julie Johnstone have cr
eated an artfully curated volume that showcases the many dimensions of Mor
gan’s practice – from his early scrapbooks through his explorations of
typewriter\, graphic\, visual poetics in various media. Thomas’s initia
l essay situates Morgan’s work in the context of twentieth-century liter
ary activity\, making the case once and for all that visual poetry was a c
entral – rather than marginal – component of modern aesthetics. For th
ose unfamiliar with the poet\, this is a terrific introduction and\, for t
hose already fans\, the book is an opportunity to appreciate the range and
variety of Morgan’s thought and expression. So much of his work is scat
tered and distributed in different venues and repositories and circulated
in niche networks that the sheer effort of locating\, selecting and collat
ing this collection is admirable. It’s such a pleasure to see the combin
ation of solid research and beautifully designed publication honouring Mor
gan’s creative spirit.\nJohanna Drucker\, author of Affluvia: The Toxic
Off-Gassing of Affluent Culture (2025) and Inventing the Alphabet (2022) \
nThis is a marvellous book\, revealing for the first time the full range o
f generous wit with which Edwin Morgan wrote radical new poetries. Here\,
indeed\, are oodles of thrillingly self-estranging technical experiment an
 d much avant-garde mischief.\nDrew Milne\, Judith E. Wilson Professor of P
