DESCRIPTION:18 to 27 September\, 11am to 5pm\n\nOpening event: Thursday 1
 7 September\, 6-8pm\n\nEveryone welcome! \n\nJi Yoon Lee is a multidiscip
linary artist. This new work examines how digital technology impacts our b
odies\, exploring the tension between the physical and virtual realities\,
as well as the profound sense of absence.\n\nCeramic body fragments resem
ble shed clothing\, a crouched figure is painted trapped within a grid\, a
nd virtual body modification services created using AI programmes\, vividl
y expose the fractures that digital media technology inflicts on our perce
ption.\n\n"As we grow accustomed to the relentless speed of technology\, o
ur bodies by comparison\, increasingly feel like a burden or frustrate us.
Media technology paralyses our senses with dazzling performances that lea
ve us no room to breathe\, ultimately rendering us addicted."\n\nThis new
body of work is generously supported by a VACMA (Visual Arts and Crafts Ma
kers Awards) bursary and the ESW Members Exhibiting Bursary from Edinburgh
  Sculpture Workshop.\n\nSee you there!
