Media technology paralyses our senses with dazzling performances that lea

’- which will benefit many wheelchair users\, folks with carers\, and th
ose with stomas\, etc. We will always be as accommodating as possible\, es
pecially if provided extra information before shows when it comes to fundr
aisers. \nCommunity\nOur focus is on cultivating a “human vibe” that p
rioritises community collaboration and genuine creative expression over pu
rely commercialised products. Legitimately everything we are going to do h
as the greater community in mind- offering the space to charities during t
he day\, working with local schools\, and working with professionals in th
e industry to develop and offer high-quality\, beneficial workshops. \nEdu
cation\nWe aim to create meaningful pathways for students to gain hands-on
experience in a professional working live events venue environment\, prov
iding space for rehearsals\, exams\, and performances. In addition\, we wi
ll also run and produce our own Youth Group- and hire a small team of loca
l drama and theatre teachers to assist\, to ensure the highest quality of
education available. Workshops for all ages and abilities will also be off
ered to everyone\, whether they have performed with us previously or not.
\nInclusion\nThe Jester is dedicated to being a safe and welcoming space f
or the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities\, as well as other marginalis
ed groups. \nSystemic Change\nWe seek to revitalise Edinburgh’s performi
ng arts scene\, ensuring it thrives year-round beyond the world-famous fes
tival season. Additionally\, as someone who worked as a stand up comedian
for multiple years- breaking down the culture of comedy being a ‘Man’s
Club’ is very important to me. Not only are we planning on working with
Get Off Live Comedy to provide vital Anti-Sexual Harassment training to t
he future staff members of the venue – but also will be providing a safe
\, anonymous contact system for comedians to report any harassment directl
y to myself and the board – which include the Head of Production and the
Head of Tech\, ensuring the venue will forever stay entirely safe for eve
ryone after reviewing reports. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nEdinburgh C

DESCRIPTION:Edinburgh Board Gamers\n**CHANGE OF VENUE: We will be at the H
AMPTON for one more week! Sorry for any inconvenience!**\n\n**TYPICAL GAME
S**: Everything from party games to strategic epics!\n**GAMES LIBRARY**: B
 YO\, plus small library on site\n**FOOD & DRINKS**: Bar + Starbucks\, smal
l food menu **(20% Discount for EBG attendees).**\n\n**What better way to
celebrate the end of another week than with some drinks\, chat and games!*
 * Were over with our friends at The Hampton by Hilton near fountain park o
ver the summer while the Grassmarket Centre are busy with the festival.\n\
nThe tables are smaller than we have at other venues. We can move them aro
und as long as we put them back. Please dont take too many\, we need to le
ave some for others.\n\nThe hotel is giving us the space for free on the u
nderstanding that we encourage people to buy their lovely food and drink.
Please don't bring in your own. The staff preparing the food are also serv
ing at the bar and manning the hotel desk. Please be patient with them if
they are slow serving!\n\n* **20% Discount at the Hotel bar if you use the
phrase: "Can I get the discount\, I'm with the gamers over there. Cheers!
"** ... or they just realise you're with us.\n\nWe\\`ll be there from 630-
7:00 ish until 11:30-12:00 ish. **Don't worry if you're going to be late.
Games will be starting and ending throughout the evening.** It’s unusual
to need to wait more than 10-15 mins at events like these. We do need to
be out of the door by 12 exactly (ideally earlier) though due to their lic
encing rules. So please keen an eye on time.\n\nBring games if you like. W
e'll have some on site too. A wide range get played from lighter stuff to
big chunky ones.\n\n**Want to help with EBG running costs?** Please see ou
r Patreon below. Huge thanks to everyone donating already. Its genuinely r
eally helping and very much appreciated!\n\n[EBG Patreon Link Here. ](http
s://www.patreon.com/EdinburghBoardGamers)\n\n**As ever\, please do not don
ate if money is tight.** There is absolutely no pressure\, obligation\, or
judgement here. You are helping us plenty by just adding to the friendly
atmosphere and **we\\`d** **much** **rather you spent cash at the venue if
deciding between the two.**\n\n**I'M NEW AND UNSURE WHAT TO DO!** Do not
fear! We know it can be daunting for newcomers. But please don’t worry\,
we have a fantastic base of regulars who have all been new at some point.
You\\`ll find people are very friendly and the organisers even actively k
eep an eye open to make sure you get a warm welcome. If we've missed you\,
just ask one of the tables. ***What to Expect***: The day is very informa
 l. Some people will have pre-planned a longer game (feel free to use the c
omments)\, but the vast majority will honesty just form tables with whoeve
r is free using the big pile of games we keep on site. It’s a great way
to meet new people.\n\n**DO I NEED TO KNOW ALL THE GAMES?** Not at all! Ho
nestly\, that would be an impressive feat in its own right! Dont worry\, p
eople usually find a game someone knows how to teach\, often something the
y brought from home and we try to keep a good number of easy to pick up on
 es in the library.

DESCRIPTION:18.09.26. 8–11pm. \nJOHN BUTCHER & ANGHARAD DAVIES.\nJohn ha
sn’t played Edinburgh since the 80’s! Angharad is a regular visitor to
our city but her last Edinburgh show was a little documented show in Fira
s’s living room 10 years ago to audience of 4. Well\, it’s time to cha
nge all that and bring these Cafe OTO regulars to Edinburgh’s brightest
cafe stage. Butcher and Davies have been crossing paths since the early 20
00s — largely through the Common Objects collective — but only started
performing as a committed duo a handful of times before recording Two Sea
sons last year. This is still early days for this duo\, which is exactly w
hat makes it so exciting… \nHere’s a snippet to keep you going until t
 he show https://johnbutcher1.bandcamp.com/album/two-seasons (there’s a r
eview below) \nFRITZ WELCH & FIRAS KHNAISSER.\nPut one half of Hexacaikade
cagon and one half of Off Brand and what do you get?  But is that even an
accurate description of what our beloved Houstonian and your resident Bei
ruti could be cooking up for this TFEH audience? Only time will tell… \n

DESCRIPTION:When\nEvery Saturday 10:45 – 12:15 \n  \nAbout the Event\nT
ranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) is a gentle yet profound meditati
on practice rooted in the earliest teachings of the Buddha\, as taught by
the late Bhante Vimalaramsi. It combines tranquility (samatha)\, insight (
 vipassanā)\, mindfulness\, and loving-kindness (mettā) to cultivate a re
laxed\, joyful\, and deeply aware mind. \nAt the heart of TWIM is the 6R
Process—a simple and practical method for working with distractions\, le
tting go of habitual reactions\, and returning to a state of ease and clar
ity. Rather than suppressing thoughts or forcing concentration\, TWIM teac
hes practitioners how to recognize and release craving and tension\, allow
ing the mind to naturally settle into deeper states of peace and collected
ness\, including the jhānas. \nThe six steps of the 6Rs are: \n\nRecogniz
e when the mind has become distracted.\nRelease the distraction without
judgment or resistance.\nRelax the subtle tension in both the body and mi
nd.\nRe-smile to bring lightness\, kindness\, and balance back to the pra
ctice.\nReturn to the meditation object\, usually the feeling of loving-k
indness (mettā).\nRepeat the process whenever the mind wanders.\n\nThrou
ghout the event\, participants will learn how loving-kindness naturally de
velops into the Four Divine Abodes (Brahmavihāras)—loving-kindness\, co
mpassion\, appreciative joy\, and equanimity. As these wholesome qualities
deepen\, the practice also provides direct insight into Dependent Origina
tion\, helping practitioners see the impersonal nature of thoughts\, feeli
ngs\, and habitual reactions. Through this understanding\, craving gradual
ly weakens\, leading to greater freedom\, peace\, and the gradual ending o
f suffering. \nThis event is suitable for both beginners and experienced m
editators. Whether you are new to meditation or looking to deepen an exist
ing practice\, TWIM offers a practical path for cultivating lasting inner
peace and wisdom in everyday life. \n  \nAbout the Facilitator\nRoss Deig
hton has been exploring meditation and the path of inner development for m
ore than twenty years. During that time\, he practiced a variety of medita
tion traditions and studied with different teachers\, always seeking a dee
per understanding of the mind and the causes of suffering. \nIn 2022\, Ros
s was introduced to Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM). Through reg
ular practice and guidance from experienced TWIM teachers\, including his
first 10-day retreat\, he found an approach that brought greater ease\, cl
arity\, and a deeper understanding of the Buddha’s teachings. The emphas
is on loving-kindness\, relaxation\, and direct insight resonated deeply w
ith him and continues to shape both his practice and daily life. \nRoss is
passionate about sharing TWIM in a way that is welcoming\, practical\, an
d grounded in the original teachings of the Buddha. He enjoys supporting o
thers as they discover for themselves the possibility of greater peace\, w
isdom\, and freedom through consistent practice. \nOutside of teaching med
itation\, Ross enjoys playing music with friends\, dancing\, helping to ru
n a small family business\, and exploring practices that cultivate awarene
ss and wellbeing\, including enlightened communication\, Qigong\, and Nei
Gong within the Taoist tradition. \n  \nAccessibility\nThe Wellspring Roo
m is fully accessible. \nThe Salisbury Centre’s kitchen door and toilet
are now wheelchair accessible. The Garden can also be accessed by wheelcha
irs via a movable ramp via the Art Room Annex. Please let the organisers k

DESCRIPTION:A space to breathe\, release and return to your most authentic
self.\n\n\nRebirth Breathwork \nRebirth Breathwork is a form of conscious
ly connected breathing in which the inhale and exhale are gently joined to
create a continuous breathing rhythm. As the breath deepens and the think
ing mind begins to quieten\, the practice creates space to turn inward and
become more aware of the body\, emotions and patterns we may be holding.
\nRebirth Breathwork is used to support emotional and physical wellbeing\,
ease stress and tension\, bring awareness to held emotions and past patte
rns\, and encourage greater clarity\, connection and self-awareness. For s
ome\, the experience can be deeply relaxing\; for others\, it can bring em
otional release\, insight or a renewed sense of connection with themselves
. \nNo previous breathwork experience is required. Guidance will be provid
ed throughout the session. \n\nOrganisation/facilitator information\nAwake
n with Ateka\nFacilitated by Ateka Azam\, Rebirth Breathwork Practitioner
and registered Play & Creative Arts Therapist. \nHello\, I’m Ateka. I am
a Rebirth Breathwork Practitioner working with adults\, as well as a regi
stered Play & Creative Arts Therapist supporting children and young people
. \nRebirth Breathwork is a consciously connected breathing technique that
can enhance wellbeing\, ease stress and anxiety\, support emotional and t
rauma release\, and deepen emotional and spiritual awareness. I offer both
one-to-one and group breathwork sessions\, providing a supportive space w
here you can explore the breath at your own pace. \nAs a Play & Creative A
rts Therapist\, my work is grounded in a non-directive\, child-centred app
roach. Play and creativity offer children and young people a natural way t
o communicate their experiences and emotions. They are supported to explor
 e their inner world through drawing\, sand\, clay\, music\, storytelling a
nd a variety of other creative tools which speak to them. \nMy approach is
warm\, holistic and sensitive to each person’s individual needs\, exper

DESCRIPTION:When:\nEvery 3rd Sunday of the month\n15:00-17:00\n(if desired
15 minute break 16:00-16:15) \nAbout the Event:\nLet’s talk about thing
s we don’t often talk about and share what we think. \nCertainly some of
the things each of us practices to develop ourselves\, to find God\, to f
ind the meaning of life or to become a better human being\, I rarely talk
about and I rarely hear other people talk about.\nHowever I think (hope) t
hat we can learn from each other by sharing what is going on inside oursel
ves.\nDiscussion groups like this can get bogged down by (dis)agreements o
r by people exclusively wanting to talk about what they believe in (as if
they are trying to convince others that they should believe the same).\nI
would like us to be disciplined in our talking AND listening. A few guidel
ines might help to create a respectful\, open and relaxed space. \nSuggest
ed guidelines and practicalities:\nAt the start of each meeting the guidel
ines are to be considered\, modified (if desired) and adopted for the meet
ing.\nConfidentiality: Whatever is talked about in the meeting is totally
confidential and will not be discussed outside the meeting (also not in th
e break)\, not even with people who were present at the time. Confidential
ity gives me the freedom to talk about things that I may not want to talk
about outside this kind of meetings.\nOnly one person speaks at a time: Op
tional: the person who is speaking can invite brief comments or answer sho
rt questions.\nSilence between speakers (1-5 minutes). Optional: silence d
uring the 15 minute break.\nAgree a maximum time that one person can speak
(5 minutes?)\nIf a speaker goes on too long or goes off-topic\, anyone ca
n gently ring the bell. (Only ring the bell gently\; it is up to the speak
er to change/stop/come to the point\; this should not be used to discourag
e people from speaking what is on their mind\, even if you disagree or do
not understand).\nWe share our OWN experiences/opinions/ideas. We do not g
ive each other advice or criticise each other. I suggest using the word
“I” instead of “you” or “we”\, in this context.\nWe do not ‘
jump in’ to comment on what someone else has just said. We do not presen
t other people’s teachings/wisdoms except if it is needed to give contex
t to the subject and our own experience. \nSubjects: at the end of each me
eting the participants set the subject for the next meeting. \nExample Sub
jects of exploration\n“Meditation” can cover a whole range of techniqu
es and traditions (separate subjects?): \n◦ Why meditate?\n◦ What is y
our experience when you meditate?\n◦ How do you meditate?\n◦ Is Mindfu
lness different from meditation? \nWhat have you tried that did not work o
r did not work the way you expected? \n◦ techniques\, rituals\, therapie
s\, religious practices\nEmotions\n◦ Are emotions useful or a hindrance
in personal or spiritual development?\nGod\n◦ Words: e.g. Source\, Godde
ss\, (named) Deity \, Life Force\, Creator\, etc.\n◦ Is it useful to use

DESCRIPTION:Move. Touch. Listen. Be Loved. \n  \nTired of the superficial
swipe? \n  \nSeeking more embodied connections with like-minded souls? \
nHere’s your chance to take a break from the apps and the small talk\, a
rrive fully into yourself and connect playfully & authentically with other
 s. For the first time ever\, it’s coming to Edinburgh this September! \n
Embodied Dating is an immersive evening experience where you’ll move flu
idly between conversation\, movement and touch. Come spark a new connectio
n or two (romantic or platonic)\, and walk away with skills you can take i
nto every relationship. \nThis event welcomes all men\, women & non-binary
people aged 18+\, both monogamous & non-monogamous. This event is aimed f
or hetero and bisexual identifying people. \n“This has been the most pos
itive experience I’ve had in meeting genuine souls with the intention of
finding love/romance for over 6 years” – Luca \nWhat will actually ha
ppen? 🥰 \nYou’ll be invited to explore a series of unique interaction
s\, carefully guided to help you connect through your body\, and meet othe
rs with genuine curiosity and openness. \nActivities will weave together:
\n✨ Authentic Relating – playful\, courageous connection through radic
al honesty and active listening\, drawing you into presence and embodied a
wareness \n✨ Intuitive Movement – surrendering into somatic flow\, let
ting your body lead the way \n✨ Conscious Touch – exploring the many d
imensions of co-regulating touch in full awareness of desires and boundari
es \n💨 We will begin the evening with a short breathwork practice to he
lp you land. \n👯‍♂️ Some pairings are randomised\, some you can c
hoose for yourself. \n😎 Blindfolds may be used in certain activities to
deepen your connection with your physical sensations and inner world. \n
✅ Consent is central throughout the evening. You will always have the ag
ency to choose how deep you go\, and the level of physical contact you wan
t to engage in. \nIs this for me? ✨ \nThis evening is for you if you’r
 e seeking: \n✨ Deep\, meaningful interactions – no small talk \n✨ Ex
citing new connections\, romantic\, platonic or somewhere in between \n✨
A chance to explore embodied awareness and somatic connection \n✨ A sub
stance-free environment with a warm\, welcoming atmosphere \n✨ Skills to
enrich your interpersonal relationships long after the evening ends \n✨
  A space to simply be yourself \nWhether you’re a seasoned workshop-goer
or brand new to these practices\, you’ll find something valuable here.
\nWhy are tickets sold by gender? 👫 \nTo ensure that the gender balance
is as even as possible\, it is important to keep track of how many men/wo
men/non-binary people are signing up. If a particular gender is over-repre
sented in the run-up to the event\, we do our best to ensure that under-re
presented gender(s) also sign up. \nWhile we aim to achieve an even balanc
e of genders (and ages)\, this is not always possible. However\, what is g
uaranteed are skills that you can apply to any connection. Simply come wit
h an open mind and ready to connect. \nThe Facilitator 💁‍♂️ \nLau
rie King (he/him) is a queer British-Kiwi based in Berlin. Since 2019\, he
has facilitated hundreds of Authentic Relating\, Dating and Embodiment wo
rkshops across Oceania and Europe\, sparking thousands of nourishing conne
ctions and turning strangers into lifelong friends. \nHis training include
s The Embody Lab\, Authentic Revolution\, Body Electric\, Connection Insti
tute and World Peace Yoga Shool. He has facilitated at internationally acc
laimed festivals including Stretch and Ignite\, and with organisations suc
 h as ART International. \n“I love Laurie’s energy\, wisdom\, execution
and light touch. I felt super safe to open up and connect while he was ho
lding the space” – Tess \n“Laurie’s approach to mix Authentic Rela
ting with conscious touch and movement made me feel more whole and deeply
connected with others. Laurie is also incredibly kind and I felt safe\, wa
rm and welcomed from the start” – Benjamin \n“Laurie is an incredibl
e facilitator who creates a safe\, gentle & loving space. As a Highly Sens
itive Person this was just what i needed to open up & be vulnerable. Wow h
ow powerful & profound – using subtle exercises to do deep inner work in
  a group setting” – Julie \nFor more info: itoiauthenticrelating.com |
