DESCRIPTION:17.07.26. 6–8pm. \nJoin us for a drink\, a chance to view Ev
a Rothschild’s exhibition and hear about ways you can get involved in ev
erything Fruitmarket\, from events to creative workshops! \nThe Void Press
es The Wall is a major exhibition by London-based Irish artist Eva Rothsch
ild\, whose work grows out of a commitment to sculpture’s capacity to cr
eate bodily encounters in space. Her sculptures are born of the city and r
edolent of the urban landscape. Some\, cast or constructed in bronze\, pla
ster or steel\, are supported on plinths\, ‘behaving’ like sculptures
‘should’\, while others stretch\, twist\, balance\, or form whole envi
ronments in concrete\, polystyrene\, cotton and canvas that the viewer mus
t negotiate. Her work creates a constant push-and-pull of the power dynami
c between audience and object\, drawing attention to how we occupy space.
