A space that is resilient and counteracts the hardness of the conflict beyond its fabric walls. The artist examines the dichotic co-existence of these two opposing realities in her paintings. In her paintings she depic ts temporary shelters that strive to remain a home.  She elevates the las t remaining domestic objects that these families in Gaza possess\, to pric eless commodities. Each domestic scene is adorned in patterns from the fam ilies’ personal possessions allowing their presence to be felt in the wo rk. \nTwo garments of children’s clothing hang in the sash windows of th e gallery. The small jackets are made from medical gauze\, a fabric which originated in Gaza\, hence its name. This fragile fabric gains its strengt h as a medical bandage for the wounded. These ‘Baby Armours’ are a hom age to the tens of thousands of children who have been killed in the genoc ide in Gaza. \nMiriam also references the archeological documentation of w ar in her series of ancient pots which carry images of displaced Palestini an families. History is more often narrated through a series of battles\, won and lost. Miriam McConnon’s work aims to document and to archive for future generations\, the overlooked side of this war\, the survival of th e domestic living space and its function as a gate keeper of everyday secu rity. \nThis exhibition recognizes the unassuming power of the domestic sp ace to facilitate security and dignity in a time of famine and genocide. \ n \n2026 is a milestone year for the artist who\, back in March\, had a so lo show at the Europa Gallery\, Dublin\, to mark the Cypriot Presidency of the European Council. They are sustaining spaces that are hands-on and hapt ic and filled with specialist materials and technical knowledge. Printmake rs and artists orbit these spaces supported by their gravitational pull an d benefit from the mutual support and opportunity that arises. \n\n\nThe t erm Salone derives from the French term for a reception space. These space s contradictorily create an elite space for specialism\, while simultaneou sly creating a bounded inclusivity within that envelope. The salon typical ly created a formal device to create commonality between disparate element s. Inevitably hierarchies between genres developed\, the humility of still lives were skyed while history paintings were hung on the privileged eye level. On balance the salon space is an egalitarian one that corresponds t o the social nature of spaces such as the Black Church Print Studio. Working with found and everyday materials\, mainly paper and  card he bu ilds layered surfaces through accumulation\, alteration\, and repair. \n\n \n\nRather than hiding how the works are made\, they are self-explanatory.     Visible seams\, exposed edges\, runny glue\, the evidence of the ha nd are all apparent and exposed. Cutting\, folding\, layering\, and gluing are both method and meaning — structures built provisionally\, likely t o fail\, not built to last. This instability isn’t separate from the wor k’s meaning\; it is the meaning\, mirroring an existential unease the wo rk doesn’t resolve\, only makes visible\, and briefly\, holds together. \n\n\n\nBrian Hegarty is an artist based in Drogheda County Louth. He was born in Dublin in 1970 and graduated from D.I.T. College of Fine Art in 19 94. He has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. He runs t hirtythree-45\, a multi-platform arts project working independently and in collaboration with other artists\, musicians\, and arts organisations. Mo st recently he initiated The KIOSK Project Art Space\, a small artist-run project space on Narrow West Street in Drogheda. \n\n\n\n\n\nJúlius Kolle rDelving beyond art as a practice\, Koller’s work explores art as a medi um of cultural action. In a bid to investigate communications and actions beyond their institutional and political definitions his work hones its fo cus on everyday gestures and rituals. In doing so he creates the concept o f “‘cultural institutions”. \n\n\n\nIn late 1980s Czechoslovakia\, K oller found himself deeply concerned with the Czechoslovakian Spring libe ration. This event saw Warsaw troops invade Czechoslovakia in a bid to sup press the Spring liberation process within the region. At the same time\, there was an exponential growth in the economic shift to a globally driv en free market society. This period of change prompted much reflection  – specifically the contradiction of Utopia and real life. Here his seri es U.F.O.-naut J.K. was conceived. An almost life-long series of self-port raits released annually\, many pieces feature Koller himself using ironic gestures and using wildly various symbols and everyday objects like nets\, tennis rackets\, table-tennis bats\, his own head of hair\, and so on. \n \n\n\nThe (otznik) question mark recurs throughout his work. As the collec tion evolves so does the question mark. He weaves the symbol in throughout a wide variety of materials and formats. The symbol serves not only as a reference and prompt to question politics\, society and environment but al so as a universal term: it stood for openness\, willingness to explore\, u ncertainty and doubt. In his work Meditacia / Meditation (U.F.O.)  1983 Július is pictured with his head perched and eyes closed\, holding only a piece of paper. The piece of paper contains a small pencil illustration – a circle drawn unsteadily. This sketch encapsulates the spirit of the man. Here too\, the subject of free expression has become an inquiry\, one that is not only focused on social conditions but on one’s own capacity for action.  \n\n\n\nFor an Irish equivalent\, think the late Maurice O ’Connell\, an art rogue\, a performer\, a wanderer and a unique presence in the Irish art world of the 1990s. He took part in the first Manifest a ( 1996 )\, Europe’s only Nomadic Biennial of Contemporary Art. He  had a solo exhibition The Last Great Buffalo Hunt in Green on red Galler y in 1997. \n\n\n\n\n\nNil Yalter \n\n\n\nBorn in Cairo and raised in Ista nbul\, Nil Yalter is a pioneering Turkish artist whose work has been sha ped by her experiences across different cultures\, traditions and politica l landscapes. Drawing on her Anatolian heritage while embracing the experi mental possibilities of contemporary art\, Yalter has developed a practi ce that spans more than five decades. \n\n\n\nHer work explores migration\ , identity\, feminism and social justice through the stories of those ofte n overlooked. Combining visual art\, performance\, technology and traditio ns drawn from oral and visual cultures\, Yalter examines the resilience and complexity of human experience while giving voice to marginalised comm unities and questioning the social and political structures that shape the ir lives. \n\n\n\nIn Lord Byron Meets the Shaman Woman (2009)\, Nil Yalte r draws on her longstanding interest in shamanism\, nomadic cultures and t he cultural histories of Anatolia to revisit the figure of the female sham an. Combining performance\, costume\, archival imagery and text\, the work pays tribute to women who occupied significant spiritual\, social and int ellectual roles within their communities.
