 xamine several issues relevant to the Afro-Brazilian diaspora\, including 
 racial affirmation\, discourses of harmony and confrontation\, and voices 
 of presence and memory. These topics will be approached from the perspecti
 ves of music\, art\, history\, religion\, dance and folklore.\n\nParticipa
 nts will learn about the hierarchal religion of Candomblé and rhythms of
  samba while exploring the intersection of Catholicism with Africanicity i
 n historic and present-day manifestations. The experience will also trace 
 the history of a land that speaks to\, from and about the Afro-Brazilian e

 Sept. 25-26. The weekend is packed with activities\, and this year Detroit
  Mercy is partnering with Live 6’s Six Mile Street Fest\, providing addi
 tional entertainment\, local cuisine and family-friendly activities on the
  UDM Front Lawn (outside the McNichols gate).\n\nThis two-day event offers
  something for everyone—from exciting games and tours to informative ses
 sions. Among the highlights are the annual bike tour of the historic area
 s surrounding the McNichols Campus\, an open kickball game\, a taping of D
 etroit Mercy's long-running show "Ask the Professor" and an improv show in
  the newly established Black Box Theatre in the Student Union.\n\nAttendee
 s can also cheer on the Titans men's soccer team at Titan Field as they ta

 to take place on Thursday\, Oct. 1\, from 12-2 p.m. \n\nThe Wellness Cente
 r is looking for departments\, organizations and clubs to participate in t
 he expo\, which is geared toward the UDM students and employees.\n\nA tabl
 e will be provided for displaying educational materials or promotional ite
 ms.\n\nFor those unable to attend in person\, alternative participation op
 tions are available\, including the sharing of informational flyers or pro
 motional items. Arrangements can also be made to set up a table on behalf

 ree by a professional photographer on Oct. 5-6 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  in the Student Union Ballroom as part of a Get to Know MarCom event. \n\
 nThese new headshots are perfect for employees' University biography (pers
 on) pages and professional use. \n\nNo appointments are necessary — jus
 t dress up\, drop in and smile for the camera. Once headshots are availabl
 e for downloading\, they will be distributed to the University community t
 hrough Campus Connection. \n\nThe McNichols Campus headshot event is open
  to employees from all of UDM’s campuses\, but the Corktown and Riverfro
 nt campuses provide similar opportunities for their employees. Please cont
