DESCRIPTION:Join Cranbrook Art Museum and Cranbrook Academy of Art to cele
 brate the launch of Fine Design: A Studio Guide to Remixing Design\, Art\,
  Craft\, and Industry\, a publication by former Designer-in-Residence of 3
 D Design\, Scott Klinker (MFA Design 1996). The book is a guide to contemp
 orary studio practice that combines instructional methods with significant
  student and alumni projects developed during his years at Cranbrook Acade
 my of Art. Scott will be joined in conversation by Director of Cranbrook A
 rt Museum\, Andrew Satake Blauvelt (MFA Design 1988)\, Nina Cho (MFA 3D De
 sign 2015)\, and Evan Fay (MFA 3D Design 2016). \nScott Klinker designs fu
 rniture\, lighting\, and spatial systems that operate at the intersection 
 of design\, architecture\, art\, and craft. Trained as an industrial desig
 ner\, he approaches each project through an architectural lens\, exploring
  how people inhabit and experience space.  \nHe has partnered with design
 -driven companies\, including MillerKnoll\, Alessi\, Steelcase\, Landscape
  Forms\, and Burton Snowboards. His industry projects have received numero
 us professional awards\, while his limited-edition works are represented b
 y Playground Detroit.  \nKlinker earned an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of 
 Art and has held professional positions at IDEO in Palo Alto and Sony Eric
 sson. Before returning to Cranbrook\, he taught design for two years in Ja
 pan at the Kanazawa International Design Institute. His studio is based in
  Metro Detroit\, Michigan.  \nThe book signing will begin at 6pm\, and th
 e conversation will follow at 6:30pm. Purchase an early copy of the book b
 efore its scheduled release on October 14\, while supplies last. This even
 t is free with museum admission.
