ON THE MOUNT\nWomen: Week of September 14 – November 19\nMen: September
17 – November 19 \nThe Sermon on the Mount contains some of the most fa
miliar and treasured passages in all of scripture—from the Lord’s Pray
er and the Beatitudes to Jesus’ gentle yet profound teachings on money\,
ambition\, and relationships. While we often encounter these verses in fr
agments\, treating them as separate lessons\, what if we navigated these t
hree chapters in Matthew exactly as they were originally heard? \nJoin us
for this 9-session study as we walk verse by verse through Jesus’ teachi
ng\, reading them as one cohesive message. Together we will be challenged
to think differently about what it means to faithfully and obediently foll
ow Jesus. \nRegister for the time you wish to attend: \n\nMultiple group o

DESCRIPTION:The Des Moines Art Center invites you to join us for a free ar
tist lecture with Valentin Noujaïm – “What Caïn saw\, and other vari
ations on the desire to destroy.” This lecture is presented alongside th
e Art Center’s exhibition\, “Valentin Noujaïm: La Défense\,” on vi
ew in the Pamela Bass-Bookey and Harry Bookey Gallery September 10 – Dec
 ember 6\, 2026. \nNoujaïm is a French-Lebanese artist and filmmaker based
between Paris\, France and Athens\, Greece. His work explores how individ
uals and territories navigate forms of collapse\, treating contemporary ar
chitecture as spaces charged with narratives\, tensions\, and latent imagi
naries. Through film and video\, he examines how power\, memory\, and coll
ective imaginaries are inscribed in built environments and what survives w
hen they unravel. Moving between documentary and fiction\, he weaves toget
her personal histories\, political landscapes\, and the silent weight of s
paces to construct layered works. \nREGISTER \nFree\; registration require
