 atthew Butler\, Ph.D. is a historian specializing in modern Mexican histor
 y\, the history of Catholicism in Mexico and the U.S. Southwest\, and rura
 l and Indigenous communities. His work on the assassination of President K
 ennedy is informed by President John F. Kennedy’s historic role as the f
 irst Catholic president of the United States and by his strong public rece
 ption in Mexico\, including the widely celebrated 1962 visit to Mexico Cit
 y by President Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy.\nIn addition to his Kennedy
 -related research\, he is completing a book on liberal Catholicism in Mexi
 co from Independence through the Revolution and an edited volume on Mexica
 n American historian Carlos Eduardo Castañeda. His current research also 
 explores the history of the modern Mexican bullfight and the travels of En
 glish novelist Graham Greene in southern Mexico during the 1930s. He is ed
 itor of Mexican Studies/Mexican Studies and director of the Hijuelas Proje
 ct\, which documents Indigenous community history in nineteenth-century Mi
 choacán.

 Dallas historian\, Sam Childers\, and featuring City of Dallas Archivist J
 ohn H. Slate and Stephen Fagin\, Head of Curatorial at The Sixth Floor Mus
 eum\, whose professional work and personal connections are explored in Fit
 zgerald’s book. The panelists will take a deeper look at the enduring in
 terest in the events of November 22\, 1963\, and why that day—and Presid
 ent Kennedy’s legacy—continue to reverberate throughout global memory.

 an author and screenwriter from London. His first book\, Ruth and Martin
 ’s Album Club (2017)\, was a collection of reviews of classic albums w
 ritten by celebrities upon hearing them for the first time. It featured co
 ntributions from Richard Osman\, Ian Rankin\, Bonnie Greer and many more. 
 \nIn 2020\, he wrote his first screenplay\, Campbeltown ’69\, which foc
 uses on Paul and Linda McCartney during the break-up of the Beatles. It’
 s currently in pre-production and due to be shot in 2026. \nMartin’s par
 ticular interest is taking well-worn stories\, approaching them from a new
  angle and finding the comedy and absurdity within them. \nAbOUT THE panel
 ists: \nJohn H. Slate is city archivist for the City of Dallas\, where he 
 has been responsible for historic city government records in the Dallas Mu
 nicipal Archives since 2000. He possesses a BS in film studies and a Maste
 r’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Tex
 as at Austin. He previously was curator/librarian at the Hertzberg Museum 
 of the San Antonio Public Library and archivist at the Texas African Ameri
 can Photography Archive in Dallas. He’s written numerous articles on arc
 hives\, photography\, music\, and Texas history and is the author or co-au
 thor of four Arcadia Images of America series books: Historic Dallas Parks
 \, Lost Austin\, Dealey Plaza\, and John F. Kennedy Sites in Dallas-Fort W
 orth. He is co-author with Kaye Lanning Minchew of Managing Local Governme
 nt Archives (Rowman and Littlefield\, 2016). \n  \nStephen Fagin\, Head 
 of Curatorial at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza\, contributes to t
 he institution’s collections\, exhibitions\, educational and programming
  initiatives. Since joining the Museum in 2000\, he has appeared in numero
 us documentaries and television programs and given hundreds of media inter
 views\, including appearances on the Today Show and Good Morning Americ
 a. Fagin\, who holds degrees from Southern Methodist University and the Un
 iversity of Oklahoma\, is also the author of Assassination and Commemorati

  and museum professional. He has served on the staffs of the Old Red Museu

 E SPEAKER: \nTracy Everbach\, Ph.D.\, is a journalism educator\, researche
 r and writer. Her research focuses on representations of gender and race i
 n mass media\, women’s leadership in journalism\, and women in sports me
 dia. She has published four co-edited books\, as well as numerous academic
  journal articles\, book chapters\, and commentary. She worked for 14 year
 s as a newspaper reporter\, including 12 years covering local news at The 
 Dallas Morning News. She worked on in-depth projects examining domestic vi
 olence and juvenile killers and covered the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and
  the 1993 federal raid on the Branch Davidian complex in Waco. She won sev
 eral professional journalism awards\, including the Carole Kneeland Award 
 from the Texas Governor’s Commission on Women\, and the PASS Award from 
 the National Council on Crime and Delinquency.

  by The Economist. His biography Inventor of the Future: The Visionary Lif
 e of Buckminster Fuller\, which was released by Dey Street / HarperCollins
  in 2022\, was selected as a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice\
 , an Economist best book of the year\, and one of Esquire‘s fifty best b
 iographies of all time. Collisions: A Physicist’s Journey From Hiroshima
  to the Death of the Dinosaurs (W. W. Norton)\, his biography of Luis W. A
 lvarez\, was an Economist Best Book of 2025. His essays\, reviews\, and no
 nfiction have been featured in print and online in the New York Times\, Th
 e Atlantic\, the Los Angeles Times\, Slate\, Salon\, The Rumpus\, Gizmodo\
 , Fast Company\, Public Books\, Asterisk\, The Skeptical Inquirer\, and Th
 e Daily Beast. \nOn the fiction side\, his novels include the thrillers Th
 e Icon Thief\, City of Exiles\, and Eternal Empire\, all published by Pe
 nguin Books. He also rediscovered Frozen Hell\, the original version of Jo
 hn W. Campbell’s novella “Who Goes There?” (aka The Thing)\, which h
 as been under development as a film by Blumhouse Productions. His short st
 ories have frequently appeared in the magazine Analog Science Fiction and 
 Fact and have been reprinted in Lightspeed and two editions of The Year’
 s Best Science Fiction\, as well as many other anthologies. Syndromes\, an
  audio original collection of his short science fiction\, is available fro

 ” for Analog. \nHis father immigrated to the United States from Hong Kon
 g\, and his mother is Finnish-American. He was born in 1980 in Castro Vall

 ths by Jorge Luis Borges\, and The Whole Earth Catalog\; his favorite movi

 nois. His next book will be Whiz Kids: The Mad Men of RAND and the Shaping
  of the Cold War\, which is scheduled to be published by W. W. Norton in 2
