 , Mark and Rick del Castillo collaborating on a recording project that was
  initially intended as a gift to their parents and family members for the 
 holiday season. As accomplished electric guitarists in different bands and
  not having played together\, they decided to join forces on acoustic nylo
 n string guitars\, creating a rich\, romantic\, more traditional sound in 
 honor of the Spanish music they grew up listening to at home. The brother
 s invited their long time\, home-town musical friends to also play on the 
 songs and the music soon came to life. Once the album was finalized\, it w
 as titled after their namesake\, “Brothers Of The Castle” and they per
 formed their first public concert for family and friends to celebrate the 
 release. \nTheir plan was to perform “one night only.” However\, the v
 ery positive turnout was unlike any of their other bands. From their incep
 tion\, Del Castillo became something uniquely special and soon the word sp
 read about the new band. The more the band played\, the more their audienc
 e grew. They continued writing and recording music\, building their reper
 toire\, making more fans and quickly becoming one of Austin’s most recog
 nized bands. One of the instrumental songs from the first album\, “Spani
 sh Castle Tango” was later hand picked by Robert Rodriguez and fueled th
 e inspiration for\, “Mexico and Mariachis”. Another track from their f
 irst album\, “Dias de Los Angeles” was placed in the film and soundtra
 ck for “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” starring Johnny Depp\, Antonio Ban
 deras and Salma Hayek. \n“… tumbling brilliance on nylon-string guitar
 s… These eruptions of technique and taste conjure images of Eddie Van Ha
 len fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gipsy Kings).” says 
 Rolling Stone magazine.  \nFilm director Robert Rodriguez first attended 
 a Del Castillo concert in 2002 and a great friendship quickly developed. 
 Rodriguez enlisted the group to contribute music for the soundtracks to 
 “Once Upon A Time In Mexico”\, “Spy Kids 3D”\, “Sin City”\, 
 “Grindhouse” and “Machete”\, Sin City 2\, Machete Kills\, Spy Kids
  4\, Alita:Battle Angel and then perform the music live at the premieres. 
 He was so impressed with Del Castillo that he wanted to record with them\,
  so together they formed the super-group\, “CHINGÓN” and recorded an 
 electrifying rendition of the Mexican mariachi classic\, “Malagueña Sal
 erosa”. Quentin Tarantino loved it so much that he edited the ending se
 quence of “Kill Bill Vol. II” to fit the song into his film. Their liv
 e performance can be seen on YouTube and has over 4 million views. \nBetwe
 en their first release and third release\, Del Castillo received an astoni
 shing 18 awards including SXSW/Austin Music Awards “Album of the Year”
  Awards for their second (“Vida”) and third (“Brotherhood”) albums
 \, Austin Music Awards “Band of the Year”\, ASCAP’s “Best Independ
 ent Group of the Year” and Austin Music Pundits “Best Live Act”. \n
 “Watching brothers Rick and Mark del Castillo take the stage and throw d
 own dazzling nylon-string runs\, in unison and in harmony\, made me a big 
 fan…infectious Latin rhythms with mind-boggling solos.” says Guitar Pl
 ayer magazine.  \nDel Castillo began touring nationwide playing with such
  diverse acts as Styx\, Los Lonely Boys\, Ozomatli\, Kinky\, Don Henley\, 
 Los Lobos\, Ryan Bingham and Willie Nelson and toured non-stop. They perfo
 rmed at three of Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnics\, at Eric Clapton
 ’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and made numerous local/national TV appear
 ances. \nWillie Nelson enjoyed Del Castillo so much he re-recorded his son
 g “I Never Cared For You” with the full band (featured on “Brotherho
 od”) and says it’s his “favorite version”. Willie has continued to
  be a good friend of the band and also appears in the music video for “A
 nybody Wanna” (“Del Castillo”) and have discussed another music proj
 ect for the future. \nThe band made an appearance with Robert Rodriguez as
  the band\, “CHINGÓN” for the George Lopez show on ABC-TV. \nRick and
  Mark del Castillo were chosen (two guitar players out of six world wide) 
 by Gibson Global to launch their state-of-the-art Dark Fire Gibson Les Pau
 l guitar line. \nThe band played major festivals across the US and Canada 
 expanding their audience and fan base at a more rapid rate\, earning even 
 more recognition and becoming established as a touring musical act among t
 heir musical heroes and peers. \nDel Castillo recorded on a collaboration 
 with Willie Nelson\, Carlos Santana and Los Lonely Boys on a song called\,
  “Claro Que Se Puede” found on the album titled “Proyecto De Amor”
  benefiting the non-profit Hermes Music Foundation who provides musical in
 struments to the indigenous people of Mexico. \nThe band toured overseas m
 aking new fans throughout Germany\, Austria\, Switzerland\, Belgium\, Norw
 ay\, Scotland and London\,England. The band was received with open arms an
 d had a cult-like following already expecting their arrival in many cities
  across Europe\, already being known for the music on major soundtracks fr
 om Robert Rodriguez’s award winning films. Del Castillo performed at Mo
 ntreux Jazz Festival\, the second largest jazz festival in the world. The 
 band has also played other notable festivals such as Gampel Open-Air\, Blu
 e Balls Festival\, Bergen International Festival\, Scotland Celtic Festiva
 l\, St. Moritz Jazz Festival\, Wakarusa Music Festival\, Aspen Jazz Festiv
 al\, Strawberry Music Festival\, Austin City Limits Music Festival\, SXSW 
 Music Festival\, Vancouver Folk Festival\, Great Woods Music Festival\, Ca
 lifornia Worldfest\, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival and the Elnora Gui
 tar Festival among many others. \nDel Castillo’s instrumental track\, 
 “Las Seis Cuerdas de Tony Montuno” was a featured song for a scene on 
 ABC’s crime/drama series “Killer Women” and the band makes a brief a
 ppearance performing during the second episode. \nDel Castillo was recruit
 ed to appear in the “From Dusk Till Dawn” the TV series. They transfor
 med into vampires\, playing the killer house band for the first two season
 s\, produced by Robert Rodriguez and Miramax for his new television networ
 k\, The EL REY Network. That same year the band also made an appearance o
 n the radical wrestling show\, “Lucha Underground” performing with Rob
 ert Rodriguez as “CHINGÓN” for the EL REY Network. \n“I want to bri
 ng the most exciting and authentic content possible”\, said Robert Rodri
 guez when announcing the TV series. “Chingón and Del Castillo have been
  part of my experience providing this kind of entertainment to audiences s
 ince the beginning.”  \nDel Castillo took a brief hiatus from touring t
 o work on different recording projects and new musical collaborations. Aft
 er a couple of years off the band eventually began writing and recording n
 ew music once again\, this time expanding their sound to incorporate more 
 electric guitars in the mix. The band has started performing live again an
 d are playing new songs at select shows. There are plans to release a new

 gue  \nAustin-based funk fusion collective Blue Tongue’s music is serve
 d with equal parts funk\, psych and electrifying live performances. Now fo
 r the average band\, “electrifying” means solid musical chops and mayb
 e a few jumps. But if you’re irrepressible Blue Tongue frontman Tre Pham
  (guitar\, vocals)\, it also includes actual gymnastics of the backflip an
 d splits nature. The rhythm section boasts drummer Hunter Thompson’s mas
 tery of jazz influenced groove\, and Rowan Smoot’s muscular slap bass ar
 tistry. The ensemble is completed with Savannah Thieme’s buoyant synth t
 extures\, the hilariously virtuosic David Thal on trumpet\, the effortless
 ly smooth Trevor Gonzales on tenor saxophone\, the sonic power of Jeremy H

 th live shows this dynamic\, it’s no surprise that opportunities abound 
 in the form of festivals\, national tours and club shows opening for belov
 ed acts like Sam Greenfield\, Ghost Funk Orchestra (thrice)\, Here Come th
 e Mummies\, and Snarky Puppy spin off band Ghost Note. In fact\, a recent 
 west coast tour culminated in a stellar official performance at NAMM (the 
 popular music industry convention) in Anaheim\, as well as after shows for
  both Vulfpeck and Cory Wong at Stubb’s. \nThe band’s sonic exploratio
 n is supported by an impressive lineup of endorsements\, including ADV-Sou
 nd\, Marco Bass Guitars\, and Tsakalis Audioworks. But Blue Tongue’s col
 laboration with an Austin-based hot sauce company might be their most uniq
 ue partnership yet\, boasting a limited edition salsa with local salsa mas
 ters\, Fantastic Fuego\, with whom they produced a blue colored hot sauce 
 called ‘Blumitas’ based on the garlic\, serrano\, habanero\, corn and 
 basil Chilean dish called Humitas.” \nSpunky and self-sufficient\, the b
 and has their own recording studio where Pham taught himself production an
 d mixing\, so they could keep creating at will on a modest budget. This ki

 s of Texas Music since 1972 when songwriters Michael Martin Murphey and Je
 rry Jeff Walker moved to Austin with a bag full of songs and no band.  Nu
 nn was instrumental in the production of their first records which were th
 e first released on major recording labels out of Austin\, Texas\, and a n
 ew genre which came be known as Texas Progressive Country Music was born.
   Joining Jerry Jeff Walker in the old dancehall in Luckenbach for a reco
 rding session in 1973\, Gary P. Nunn recorded “live”\, his song\, LOND
 ON HOMESICK BLUES\, aka HOME WITH THE ARMADILLO\, which was an instant hit
  on Walker’s multi-million selling album\, VIVA TERLINGUA\, became a Tex
 as anthem and helped propel Jerry Jeff Walker into the national spotlight!
   The song was selected by the start-up PBS series\, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS\,
  and served as the theme song for nearly 30 years. \nNunn has received num
 erous honors in his long and storied career spanning over 50 years.  He h
 as been inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame\, the West Texas Ring o
 f Honor along with such notables as Bob Wills\, Buddy Holly\, Waylon Jenni
 ngs\, and Roy Orbison.  He has been proclaimed the “Official Ambassador
  of Texas Music” by three governors. In 2019\, he was honored and recogn
 ized on the floors of the Texas House\, Texas Senate\, and by Gov. Greg Ab
 bott for his contributions to the Texas Arts.  In 2023 he was inducted in
 to the TEXAS SONGWRITER’S HALL OF FAME. \nGary P. Nunn has 20 self-produ
 ced albums to his credit and his songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson
 \, Jerry Jeff Walker\, Michael Martin Murphey\, David Allen Coe\, Johnny B
 ush\, Chris Stapleton\, Roseanne Cash\, among many others.  In 2019\, he 
 was inducted into BMI’s prestigious\, “MILLION AIR” CLUB\, certifyin
 g that his song\, LAST THING I NEEDED\, FIRST THING THIS MORNING\, had sur
 passed the ‘million radio play” mark\, a milestone attained by few son
 gwriters.  He was invited to perform at the GRAND OLE OPRY and played to 
 a packed house of Texans who traveled to see him there. \nAuthor of his au
 tobiography\, AT HOME WITH THE ARMADILLO\, he tells the story of his life 
 and documents the beginnings of the Texas music scene and the integral rol
 e he played.  Gary P. Nunn has been instrumental in giving young songwrit
 ers the break they needed to get started and you can find many of their na
 mes among the top singer-songwriters of the Texas music industry.  His co
 ntributions to the growth and development of Texas music cannot be oversta

 Music. Conjunto music may be a familiar sound to residents of Texas\, but 
 its worldwide appeal can be surprising. Combine a hefty helping of Tex-Mex
  conjunto\, simmer with several parts Texas rock\, and add a daring dash o
 f well-cured blues and R&B riffs\, and you’ve cooked up the tasty Grammy
 -winning Los Texmaniacs groove. Max Baca is a legend on the bajo sexto\, a
  twelve-string guitar-like instrument\, and his nephew\, Josh Baca\, is fa
 st attaining legendary status on the accordion\, with those two instrument
 s creating the core of the lively conjunto sound. Los Texmaniacs are the n
 ew worldwide kings of Texas Roots music\, feeding the masses with only the
  best in musical fare\, cooked up from a wide-ranging experience touring a
 nd recording with Flaco Jimenez of Texas Tornados fame\, Los Super Seven\,
  and even the Rolling Stones. While Max Baca has participated in eleven Gr
 ammy-winning projects\, the band themselves won their first Grammy in 2010
  and a nomination for their last Smithsonian Folkways recording in 2019\,
