DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the lyceum. These free\, monthly workshops are held
on the third Saturday of the month\, and offer writers of every genre and
skill level an opportunity to learn\, experiment and develop their craft.
We hope you’ll join us!\nWhat happens when our stories and ideas resist
formal boundaries between poetry\, memoir\, reportage and fiction? Throug
h close reading\, discussion\, and generative exercises\, we will explore
and experiment with writing that privileges emotional truth and curiosity
over conventional labels. Participants will leave with a renewed sense of
creative possibility and the beginnings of a piece that challenges traditi
onal genre classifications.\n\nChukwudi Ukonne is a poet and essayist whos
e work explores the histories\, politics\, and cultures of the global dias
pora\, tracing the ways personal experience intersects with collective mem
ory. His writing has appeared in The Republic Journal\, Isele Magazine\, a
nd Glasstire. He was a 2025 Artist-in-Residence at Arts Mission Oak Cliff\
, and is currently a member of Cohort V of the Cedars Union Residency.\nRS
