DESCRIPTION:John McCutcheon\n\nMultiple Grammy-nominee John McCutcheon cha
rms audiences with “story telling that has the richness of fine literatu
re” (Washington Post) and his mastery of a stage full of folk instrument
 s is simply amazing. He plays guitar\, fiddle\, autoharp\, banjo\, jaw har
p\, (hambone if we are lucky) and is best known for his hammered dulcimer
playing. A John McCutcheon concert is always energizing\, fun\, uplifting\
, community building\, and his audiences leave with a renewed sense of hop
e for humanity. “This notion of telling stories of ordinary people who h
ave done great things\, and carrying those stories from one place to anoth
er\, of telling people ‘this is where I’ve been\, these are the storie
s I can bring you\,’ is the heart of what I do\,” McCutcheon sums up.
“That’s my goal. If you can recognize yourself in my songs\, then I’
ve done my job.” He lives in Georgia but keeps moving\, toward wherever
he senses there’s still a story yet to be told.\nHis 30 recordings have
gathered many honors including 7 Grammy nominations\, but it is in live pe
rformance that John feels most at home. It is what has brought his music i
nto the lives and homes of one of the broadest audiences any folk musician
has ever enjoyed. People of every generation and background seem to feel
at home\nin a concert hall when John McCutcheon takes the stage\, with wha
t critics describe as breathtaking in their ease and grace…\, like a con
versation with an illuminating old friend.\nSo if you want to laugh\, cry\
, be inspired\, and feel like you are a part of a big community\, then don
 ’t miss this concert.\nWhether in print\, on record\, or on stage\, few
people communicate with the versatility\, charm\, wit or pure talent of Jo
hn McCutcheon.\nMember discount code for tickettomato.com is FOLKLORE\nTic

DESCRIPTION:Anna Bon is one of many young women who trained at the Ospedal
e della Pietà\, the renowned Venetian music school for girls now best rem
embered for its famous male teachers\, especially Antonio Vivaldi. Looking
beyond that familiar narrative\, this lecture and performance will trace
the career of Bon — a rare 18th‑century woman who navigated a complex
professional landscape to achieve lasting public recognition through music
  publishing.\n\n \n\nBon’s remarkable first publication — a collect
ion of six flute sonatas produced when she was only 17 — reveal how she
positioned herself within a rapidly expanding market of amateur male music
ians by capitalizing on the growing popularity of the flute\, the prestige
of the Ospedale and ultimately her femininity. Interwoven with a live per
formance on Baroque flute with harpsichord\, this presentation will explor
e how Bon’s music provides a unique opportunity to explore the gendered
relationship between amateur male musicians and a young\, professional fem
 ale composer in the 18th century.\n\nImage\n\n\n\nKimary Fick\n\n \n\nK
imary Fick is a senior instructor of music history at Oregon State\, speci
alizing in historical performance practice. In addition to her research on
18th century music\, she serves as artistic director for Chamber Music Co
rvallis. Fick also performs music of the Baroque and Classical eras on his
torical flutes and recorders\, performing regularly with the Oregon Bach C
 ollegium. \n\n \n\nTung Nguyen is an award-winning pianist\, educator a

DESCRIPTION:German-Canadian cellist and Brahms Prize winner Johannes Moser
brings a program founded on what The Strad describes as a “sheer sense
of verve.” This classical music concert makes extensive use of multitrac
king to turn one cellist’s playing into an entire cello ensemble and a s
patialized audio experience. At PRAx\, Moser will perform half the program
acoustically — and the other half with a multichannel speaker system th
at creates a surround sound experience.\n\n \n\nIn a program that includes
Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres\, Moser demonst
rates not just the fascinating potential of this particular project but al
so the virtuosity that has led to his appearances with the world’s leadi
ng orchestras — including\, to take just a selection\, the Berliner Phil
harmoniker\, New York Philharmonic\, Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Chicago Sy
mphony and London Symphony Orchestra. \n\n \n\nJohannes Moser appears a
t PRAx as the holder of the 2026-27 Paula and Ken Krane Residency\, design

n\nNamed after an ancient Celtic harvest festival honoring the Irish god L
ugh\, the group that Folk Roots magazine once called an “Irish music dre
am team” was formed from members of some of Ireland’s greatest bands.
Lúnasa has sold over a million records\, performed more than 2\,000 shows
across 36 countries and collaborated with many notable artists outside th
 e tradition.\n\n \n\nFrom the start\, the band’s complex arrangements an
d unique sound reshaped the boundaries of traditional music and energized
audiences the world over. More than 20 years on\, the group continues to e
volve\, playing new music that is as state-of-the-art and aggressively inf
ectious today as it was so long ago.
