DESCRIPTION:LUNCHTIME TECH SESSIONS brought to you by Canterbury Tech –
with Tim Woodfield (Professor of Regenerative Medicine in the Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Otago Christchurch / Director
of the University of Otago Centre for Bioengineering & Translational Healt
h Technologies) as he presents Biomanufacturing: Breakthroughs in 3D Biopr
inting and Regenerative Medicine\nRegister Now!\nBreakthroughs and transla
tion of disruptive technologies in healthcare and medicine take interdisci
plinary teams and innovative approaches over extended periods of the basic
research and clinical/commercial implementation pathway. This talk discus
ses examples how embracing interdisciplinary challenges and collaboration
can shape leadership and research strategy in managing complex systems and
harnessing convergent technologies in healthcare and medicine. Examples w
ill particularly focus on our use of biomanufacturing technologies and ste
m cell biology in the development of 3D printed medical devices and Regene
rative Medicine therapies with national and international partners to deli
ver global impact.\n  \nBio: \nTim Woodfield is Professor of Regenerative
Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Ot
ago Christchurch.  He leads the Christchurch Regenerative Medicine and Ti
ssue Engineering (CReaTE) Group and is Director of the University of Otago
Centre for Bioengineering & Translational Health Technologies. His resear
ch platform involves stem cell therapies\, 3D bioprinting and additive man
ufacturing of medical devices applied to regenerative medicine and advance
d 3D in vitro tissue culture models. \nHaving trained in biomaterials and
tissue engineering in North America and Europe\, he has >170 publications
(h-index: 59) and received a number of awards including a prestigious Ruth
erford Discovery Fellowship from the Royal Society of New Zealand and the
University of Otago Research Gold Medal. He received the 2020 Research Exc
ellence Award from the Australasian Society for Biomaterials & Tissue Engi
neering (ASBTE)\, and is a Fellow in Biomaterials Science & Engineering (F
BSE). \nFeel free to bring any questions to this session. \nWhen – Tues
