The film examines the history of institutionalization in the United States and the movement toward dignity\, inclusion and community-based support. It r eveals a little-known chapter of the disability rights movement while hono ring the voices of those whose stories have too often gone unheard. \n\n\n \nFollowing the screening\, guests are invited to remain for a moderated p anel discussion featuring disability professionals\, self-advocates\, and community members who will reflect on the film’s themes and explore the progress that has been made\, as well as the work that continues to ensure equitable opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. She serv ed in a variety of coordination and managerial roles that culminated in th e unique and rewarding opportunity to work directly with families for 16 y ears. Lynne co-founded The Common Threads Network of Southwest Ohio\, and is certified as a Charting the LifeCourse Ambassador. She currently serves on the board of Ohio Adult SIBS\, an organization committed to support th e brothers and sisters of people with developmental disabilities across th e lifespan. \n\n\n\nLynne is Leah’s older sister\, bestie\, “sidekick ” and advocate. Having Leah as a sister has taught Lynne to always have an open mind and heart\, and to live a life believing what is possible. \n \n\n\nLynne has been married to Darrell for nearly five decades. They are the proud parents of two adult children and a grandparent to a grandson. T hey also partner to support Leah. Lynne also enjoys writing\, dancing “l ike no one is watching\,” and spending time with family. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ n\n\n\n\nRob Festenstein\n\n\n\nRob Festenstein is a person with a disabil ity who currently serves as the Executive Director at Independence Allianc e in Cincinnati Ohio. He has served in this role since 2017 and spent his career in the nonprofit sector. He is the proud father of two sons\, a lon g suffering\, Chicago Cubs fan and volunteers on numerous community nonpro fit organization boards. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBree Moss\n\n\n\nBree Mos s is the Program Manager of Project CARE at YWCA Greater Cincinnati and a Cincinnati-based civic accessibility and systems-change leader whose work spans public transit\, disability access\, racial equity\, broadcasting\, survivor advocacy\, and nonprofit governance. A Certified ADA Coordinator\ , she serves as Vice Chair of both the Cincinnati Accessibility Board of A dvisors and the Hamilton County Accessibility Advisory Board\, which she h elped found\, and as a Trustee of SORTA/Metro. Known for bringing communit y perspective into broader public conversations\, Ms. Moss challenges audi ences and institutions to recognize accessibility as a determinant of part icipation\, autonomy\, and power. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKerstin Sjoberg\ n\n\n\nKerstin Sjoberg is the President and CEO of Disability Rights Ohio\ , a post she’s held since 2020. \n\n\n\nShe leads Disability Rights Ohio (DRO) with a focus on empowering and elevating Ohioans with disabilities through advocacy and policy work. Under her strategic leadership\, DRO was involved in advocacy and policy initiatives that benefitted 2\,000\,000 O hioans in 2024. \n\n\n\nSjoberg is focused on ensuring that DRO’s advoca cy is as effective as possible by empowering individuals with disabilities \, engaging communities\, and tirelessly working to improve access. DRO’ s advocacy recognizes that people with disabilities face multiple\, comple x barriers throughout their lives. To maximize our impact\, Sjoberg worked with DRO’s Board to focus on Ohioans with disabilities who are at heigh tened risk of harm\, discrimination\, isolation\, or disconnection from es sential service systems. \n\n\n\nSjoberg is committed to expanding DRO’s ability to meet the needs of Ohio’s disability community. Under her lea dership\, DRO revamped its policy and community engagement work\, creating a new community engagement position\, and successfully supported Ohioans with disabilities to expand access to Home and Community Based Services by increasing wages for direct care workers during the state budget. In addi tion\, by leveraging partnerships\, DRO secured funding to expand its educ ation team with a statewide advocate to help students and families navigat e the K-12 system. \n\n\n\nSjoberg’s commitment to justice and civil rig hts has guided her entire career. Prior to joining Disability Rights Ohio\ , Sjoberg was a member of the Litigation team at Jones Day in Columbus and a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable John D. Holschuh. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ n\n\n\nGary Tonks\n\n\n\nGary Tonks\, M.Ed. is the President/CEO of The Ar c of Ohio. He has served The Arc for over 52 years as a volunteer\, direct support staff\, case manager and program director. His service has also i ncluded the position of Executive Director in Pennsylvania\, Alabama\, Cal ifornia\, with over 29 years as the President/CEO in Ohio. Gary has a Mast er’s degree in Special Education/Supervision and has been intimately inv olved in development and expansion of Ohio’s Waiver programs. He current ly serves on the Ohio Medicaid Advisory Committee\, the Ohio STABLE Adviso ry Board and the Ohio Rise Advisory Council.
