ommunities. Representing the Chinese Dragon as a water deity\, the install
ation series will feature images and projections of the weather and local
bodies of water in Chicago. \nIf The Sky Could Dream is supported\, in par
t\, by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant \nAbout Irene Hs
iao \nIrene Hsiao creates performances in conversation with visual art in
 museums\, galleries\, and public spaces\, a practice that includes site-sp

DESCRIPTION:The Uncanny Attic is a theatrical anthology inspired by Edward
Gorey’s iconic The Gashlycrumb Tinies. This absurdist dark comedy serie
s brings to life\, and then almost immediately to death\, the book’s twe
nty-six ill-fated children. Each installment ‘chapters’ of The Uncanny
Attic creates imagined histories for four of Gorey’s ill-fated characte
 rs as told through puppetry\, clowning\, dance\, live music\, drag\, stop-
motion animation\, and visual theater. \nSet inside the mysterious attic o
f an abandoned house on the cape and narrated by a family of resident racc
oons\, each chapter is a self-contained theatrical journey into the camp m
acabre world of the fictional town\, Willowdale. There\, through a series
of not-so-random circumstances\, audiences encounter an unforgettable cast
of eccentric characters whose fates inevitably lead to a delightfully sti
cky end. \nThe Uncanny Attic: Chapters I-L cast includes veteran performer
s in several disciplines including co-creators Jennifer Friedrich (Incurab

DESCRIPTION:Metropolis Performing Arts Centre\, located in the heart of do
wntown Arlington Heights\, 111 W. Campbell St.\, is proud to announce the
cast and creative team for Ride the Cyclone\, September 16 – October 25.
Ride the Cyclone is presented with book\, music and lyrics by Jacob Richm
ond and Brooke Maxwell. The Metropolis production is directed by original
American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brad
 y. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled
to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are b
ack from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, ho
pes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and
the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named
Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telli
ng machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst
them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to b
e the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies
and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added b
onus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Cast
illo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording.
She originated the role in the American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare T
heater and continued performing in the Off-Broadway\, Seattle and Atlanta
productions. \nThe regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays a
 t 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The performance o
n Saturday\, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. will be closed captioned and the performan

DESCRIPTION:The First Presbyterian Church of La Grange (FPCLG) will host a
free Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event on Saturday\, Septem
 ber 19\, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in their parking lot at 150 S. Ashland Avenue\, La
Grange\, IL. \nThis event provides area citizens an opportunity to proper
ly dispose of electronic waste that is banned from landfills\, and securel
y shred documents. \nThe event will be managed by the Cook County Center f
or Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM). FPCLG is partnering with the La Gran
ge Rotary Club and Community Assisted Rides (CARS) to support this event.
\nGreg Beglen who serves on the Earth Care Committee at First Presbyterian
Church of La Grange commented\, “This event aligns with our focus on e
nvironmental care. Electronic products contain toxic metals such as lead\,
mercury\, and arsenic\, which is why they are banned from landfills by Il
linois law. Recycling paper is important because it saves trees and reduce
s landfill emissions of methane\, a potent greenhouse gas.”  \nItems Ac
cepted: \nElectronics and small appliances: \n·       Anything wit
h a plug or battery that can fit in the trunk of a car\, such as: Televis
 ions\, computers\, computer accessories\, gaming devices\, mobile devices\
 , printers\, air conditioners\, microwaves\, small kitchen appliances\, et
 c. (no large appliances). \n·       CHaRM disposes of these items
sustainably through certified recycling partners. \nPaper shredding: \n·
Household documents only\, limit of 2 bags per car. \n·
Staples and plastic covers are okay\, but no binder clips. \n·
On-site document destruction ensures your confidential mater
ials are shredded securely. \n·      All shredded paper is recycled
. \nCars should enter the church parking lot on Ashland Avenue and exit on
to Catherine Avenue. \nArea seniors can contact Community Assisted Rides a
 t 708-354-9328 by Friday\, September 11\, to register for a pick-up on the
  day of the event.
