 ical part of human life\, is deeply connected to physical and mental healt
 h. Despite global initiatives calling for the inclusion of multidimensiona
 l approaches to sexual health research and practice\, the dominant discour
 se continues to be disease and deficit focused. While multiply marginalize
 d populations are hyper visible in the sexual health research on risk and 
 disease\, they are rarely considered in the arena of sexual wellness. In r
 esistance to narratives that pathologize marginalized sexualities\, this p
 rogram focuses on how to incorporate sex positive practices into therapy w
 ith queer and/or trans Black\, Indigenous\, and other People of Color (QTB
 IPOC). When marginalized identities are associated with risk and negative 
 outcomes\, how can we practice strengths based\, sex positive therapy? The
 oretical frameworks exist to help us shift our language and actions toward
  more socially just and destigmatizing care. By utilizing intersectionalit
 y theory (Crenshaw\, 1991) and embodiment (Krieger\, 2001)\, this program 
 illustrates the reciprocal relationship between the body and its social co
 ntext within compounding systems of oppression. Our own bodies as therapis
 ts matter too. Investigating our own socialization\, internalized beliefs\
 , and biases are imperative to providing affirming and sex positive care. 
 \nParticipants will learn how to accurately identify and apply the tenets 
 of intersectionality theory into a sex-positive clinical practice with mul
 tiply marginalized clients (Buchanan & Wiklund\, 2021). To bridge the know

 o be hesitant to engage in sexual health-related discussions with their cl
 ients (Bungener et a.\, 2022\; Hipp & Carlson\, 2019). The current literat
 ure notes various explanations\, including but not limited to developmenta
 l appropriateness concerns\, lack of knowledge or training\, and avoidance
  due to personal discomfort (Berry & Lezos\, 2017\; Cardona et al.\, 2022\
 ; Hipp & Carlson\, 2019)\, which create risks of rupturing the therapeutic
  relationship\, missed opportunities for assessment and referral\, and\, i
 n turn\, potential client harm (Brammer & Goodrich\, 2022). This hesitancy
  is evident across counselor experience levels (Canvin et al.\, 2023). Eme
 rging research has demonstrated knowledge as an important factor in improv
 ing comfort with sexuality (Mize & Ausloos\, 2026). It is important for co
 unselors\, both generalist and specialized\, to understand the role of sex
 ual health and wellness in counseling practice (Pope et al.\, 2024). \nThe
  webinar will explore the role of sexual health conversations within couns
 eling practice and review current research related to counselor comfort\,

 is advanced clinical training examines the intersection of trauma\, embodi
 ment\, and culturally grounded meaning-making in therapeutic practice. Org
 anized around three integrated frameworks — Sacred\, Shadow\, and Scienc
 e — the program supports clinicians in expanding their interpretive rang
 e when working with clients whose healing processes draw from spiritual\, 
 ancestral\, somatic\, and culturally situated traditions. Drawing on traum
 a-informed care (Ranjbar et al.\, 2020)\, Polyvagal Theory (Porges\, 2011)
 \, Somatic Experiencing (Levine\, 2010)\, and body-centered approaches to 
 racialized trauma (Menakem\, 2017)\, the program positions cultural and em
 bodied experience as central to effective trauma treatment. Clinicians wil
 l examine how meaning-making systems\, shame dynamics\, nervous system reg
 ulation\, and somatic awareness each contribute to the arc of trauma recov
 ery\, and how clinical interpretation is shaped by the practitioner’s ow
 n cultural and epistemological frameworks. \nThe program introduces three 
 clinical lenses applied sequentially and in integration. \nThe Sacred sect
 ion examines how clients construct meaning through spiritual\, ancestral\,
  and culturally rooted frameworks and how practices such as ritual\, inten
 tional breathwork\, and symbolic language function as regulatory and integ
 rative mechanisms. \nThe Shadow section examines the role of shame\, disow
 ned experience\, and adaptive survival strategies in trauma presentations\
 , using four clinical archetypes: the Wounded Protector\, the Fragmented S
 elf-State\, the Over-Adapted Self\, and the Control-Seeking Part as orient
 ing frameworks for clinical recognition and response. \nThe Science sectio
 n draws on Polyvagal Theory (Porges\, 2011) and window-of-tolerance concep
 ts (Ogden et al.\, 2006) to examine how the autonomic nervous system media
 tes threat response\, social engagement\, and the conditions under which t
 rauma can be processed and integrated. It is worth noting that Polyvagal T
 heory has generated substantive scientific debate\, particularly regarding
  its neuroanatomical claims about the functional distinction between dorsa
 l and ventral vagal pathways and its evolutionary framing (Grossman\, 2023
 \; Grossman et al.\, 2026). These critiques are active in the peer-reviewe
 d literature and have not been fully resolved. However\, researchers and c
 linicians have distinguished between the theory’s specific physiological
  claims\, which remain contested\, and its clinical heuristic value\, whic
 h has been broadly affirmed (Giroux et al.\, 2023\; van Lith et al.\, 2024
 ). \nThis program treats Polyvagal Theory as an organizing clinical framew
 ork for understanding how clients move between states of activation\, shut
 down\, and regulated engagement\, not as a fixed biological truth. Partici
 pants are encouraged to hold the framework with the same epistemic humilit
 y the program applies to all theoretical models: useful tools held with in
 tellectual honesty about their limits. \nZoom link will be available on co
