DESCRIPTION:Presented by Lauren Wiklund\, PhD \nWednesday\, September 9\,
 2026 \n8am-10am PT / 10am-12pm CT / 11am-1pm ET \nEvent held online via Zo
om\, link to access provided upon registration. \nSexual wellness\, a crit
ical part of human life\, is deeply connected to physical and mental healt
 h. Despite global initiatives calling for the inclusion of multidimensiona
l approaches to sexual health research and practice\, the dominant discour
se continues to be disease and deficit focused. While multiply marginalize
d populations are hyper visible in the sexual health research on risk and
disease\, they are rarely considered in the arena of sexual wellness. In r
esistance to narratives that pathologize marginalized sexualities\, this p
rogram focuses on how to incorporate sex positive practices into therapy w
ith queer and/or trans Black\, Indigenous\, and other People of Color (QTB
IPOC). When marginalized identities are associated with risk and negative
outcomes\, how can we practice strengths based\, sex positive therapy? The
oretical frameworks exist to help us shift our language and actions toward
more socially just and destigmatizing care. By utilizing intersectionalit
 y theory (Crenshaw\, 1991) and embodiment (Krieger\, 2001)\, this program
illustrates the reciprocal relationship between the body and its social co
ntext within compounding systems of oppression. Our own bodies as therapis
ts matter too. Investigating our own socialization\, internalized beliefs\
, and biases are imperative to providing affirming and sex positive care.
\nParticipants will learn how to accurately identify and apply the tenets
of intersectionality theory into a sex-positive clinical practice with mul
tiply marginalized clients (Buchanan & Wiklund\, 2021). To bridge the know
ing to doing gap\, this program includes clinical vignettes\, guided self
reflection\, and engaging chat based discussions and Q&A. \nZoom link will
be available on course page in “My Courses” upon event registration.
\nThis program\, when attended in its entirety\, offers 2.0 CEs for Psy
chologists\, 2.0 IL CEUs for Counselors and Social Workers\, 2.0 BBS Calif

DESCRIPTION:Leadership Intelligence\nA FAN webinar featuring Caroline Webb
\, in conversation with Jonathan Haidt\, Ph.D.\nLeadership can be rewardin
g\, but it is also deeply demanding. Leaders must deliver results now whil
e planning for the long term\, think strategically while managing the dail
y friction that arises on any team. Technology is reshaping the work in ge
neration-defining ways\, and the division of labor between human and machi
ne keeps shifting. What does it take to lead intelligently through all tha
t? \nIn her new book “Leadership Intelligence: Science-Backed Strategies
for Mastering 21 Everyday Management Challenges” economist and executiv
e coach Caroline Webb brings the science-backed approach that made her fir
st book\, How to Have a Good Day\, an enduring success to leaders seeking
to raise their game. Rooted in psychology\, neuroscience\, and behavioral
economics\, and brought to life by real stories of world-class leaders\, t
he book offers an integrated system for mastering the 21 challenges organi
zations and teams face most often. \nWebb arranges these around three stre
ngths of a great leader: making wise choices\, inspiring people to perform
at their best\, and building resilience through ups and downs. Written in
a clear\, engaging style\, “Leadership Intelligence” shows that leade
rship is something anyone can build and cultivate over time to handle hard
situations with grace\, decide with clarity\, and lift a team to greatnes
 s. \nWebb will be in conversation with Jonathan Haidt\, Ph.D.\, the Thomas
Cooley Professor of Ethical Leadership at New York University’s Stern S
chool of Business and the New York Times bestselling author of several boo
 ks\, including\, most recently\, “The Anxious Generation.” \nBonus Boo
k Giveaway\nFAN is giving away copies of Leadership Intelligence to random
ly selected Zoom attendees. Details on the webinar registration page. \nTh
is event suitable for youth 12+. It will be recorded and available on FAN

styles from around the world\, helping them gain a broader understanding o
f art and its cultural significance. With guidance and encouragement\, the
y’ll create their own artwork inspired by the featured artist\, putting
their personal spin on classic techniques while developing new skills and
confidence. \nThe class wraps up with group clean-up\, an age-appropriate
art discussion that encourages observation and expression\, and a fun “d
raw-a-long” activity to reinforce what they’ve learned in a playful an
d supportive way. \nMore than just an art class\, this is a space where yo

 er 10\, 2026 \n9am-12pm PT / 11am-2pm CT / 12pm-3pm ET \nEvent held online
via Zoom\, link to access provided upon registration. \nThis advanced-lev
el program is designed to develop functional clinical Spanish skills for t
herapeutic practice\, grounded in The Skilled Helper Model by Gerard Egan.
Through a structured\, experiential approach\, participants learn to comm
unicate ethically and effectively with Spanish-speaking clients across div
erse helping contexts. The curriculum emphasizes communication for safety\
, alliance-building\, and meaning-making rather than grammatical perfectio
n\, aligning language use with core therapeutic competencies (Egan\, 2018)
. By integrating language learning with the three stages of Egan’s model
 —Exploration\, Understanding\, and Action—participants strengthen thei
r ability to support client agency\, foster therapeutic alliance\, and tra
nslate insight into concrete steps. \nAligned with Egan Stage III\, this s
ession teaches Spanish for brief interventions and action planning. Partic
ipants learn language for identifying next steps\, selecting coping stra
tegies\, and setting small\, realistic goals that honor client agency.
\nWe practice collaborative planning\, troubleshooting barriers\, and stre
ngthening commitment using respectful phrasing. Participants also learn ho
w to summarize action plans and document them clearly.  \nZoom link will
be available on course page in “My Courses” upon event registration.
\nThis program\, when attended in its entirety\, offers 3.0 CEs for Psych

DESCRIPTION:Most food businesses don’t have a sales problem. They have a
decision problem. Because here’s the truth no one tells you: The answe
 r isn’t more data. It’s clearer decisions.  \nIn this workshop\, you
’ll cut through the noise and finally understand what’s driving your r
evenue—and what’s quietly draining it. No accounting jargon. No overw
helm.  \nYou’ll learn simple\, practical ways to make better decisions
about what to keep\, fix\, or cut—so your business actually pays you bac
 k. Growth doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from doing more of wha
t actually makes you money.  \nKey Takeaways:  \n\nWhy more numbers won
’t fix your business (and what actually will) \nThe real difference bet
ween revenue and profit—without the accounting lecture \nHow to quickly
identify your most profitable products \nSimple ways to track profitabil
ity \n\n \n  \nAbout the Speaker:  \nPauline McKinney helps founders ma
ke clear decisions without drowning in data. After 20+ years inside high-p
erformance environments\, she saw the same pattern everywhere:\nsmart lead
ers tracking more\, measuring more… and still second-guessing every move
. So she built Be The Data Hero to fix it. Her work cuts through the noise
\, strips data down to what actually matters\, and gives leaders something
most dashboards don’t: a clear next move. Because better decisions don
’t come from more data. They come from knowing what to ignore.

DESCRIPTION:About the exhibition\n\n\n"Press & Pull: A Legacy of the Rober
t Blackburn Printmaking Workshop" surveys the origins\, collaboration and
technical innovation of the U.S.’s oldest and continuously operating coo
perative workshop. Founded in 1947 by artist\, educator\, and master print
er Robert Blackburn (1920–2003)\, the workshop arose during an era of ra
cial segregation when artists of color had limited opportunities and from
the dissolution of the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project (
1935–43)\, which had supported community art centers across the country\
, including Chicago’s South Side Community Art Center. Blackburn filled
the void with the Printmaking Workshop\, creating a shared space for racia
l integration and collective creativity.\n\n"Press & Pull" traces this his
tory through 38 prints made at the Blackburn Printmaking Workshop\, archiv
al ephemera and video drawn from its archive. Woven into the exhibition ar
e an additional 45 prints that identify historical similarities and differ
ences between the workshop and printmaking practices in Chicago. This comp
arative approach offers factors that have contributed to Chicago’s print
making scene\, such as the founding of the South Side Community Art Center
\, the flight of African Americans from the South and Jews from the Soviet
Bloc\, the Black Arts Movement and communal skill sharing cultivated in n
ow-shuttered print shops and contemporary printers’ guilds.\n\nThe exhib
ition also includes photographs and video excerpts from "The Only Thing Th
at Lasts\," an oral history film documenting the lived experiences of the
workshop's multigenerational community. Produced by Camille Crain Drummond
and funded by the Hauser and Wirth Institute\, the oral history includes
narratives from artists and cultural workers such as robin holder\, Dindga
  McCannon\, Eleanor Magid\, Nitza Tuiño\, and Richard Powell.\n\n\nArtist

herapeutic practice\, grounded in The Skilled Helper Model by Gerard Egan.
\nThis session focuses on the therapeu
tic alliance in Spanish\, including how to address misunderstandings\, rup
tures\, and repair. Participants learn respectful language for naming tens
ion\, validating impact\, and inviting feedback without defensiveness.
\nWe rehearse phrases for accountability\, cultural humility\, and collab

 eptember 18\, 2026 \n8am-10am PT / 10am-12pm CT / 11am-1pm ET \nEvent held
online via Zoom\, link to access provided upon registration. \nCounselors
\, regardless of specialty\, will likely need to engage in conversations a
bout sexual health with clients at some point in their careers (Hipp & Car
lson\, 2019). Counselors and mental health professionals alike are found t
o be hesitant to engage in sexual health-related discussions with their cl
 ients (Bungener et a.\, 2022\; Hipp & Carlson\, 2019). The current literat
ure notes various explanations\, including but not limited to developmenta
l appropriateness concerns\, lack of knowledge or training\, and avoidance
  due to personal discomfort (Berry & Lezos\, 2017\; Cardona et al.\, 2022\
; Hipp & Carlson\, 2019)\, which create risks of rupturing the therapeutic
  relationship\, missed opportunities for assessment and referral\, and\, i
 n turn\, potential client harm (Brammer & Goodrich\, 2022). This hesitancy
is evident across counselor experience levels (Canvin et al.\, 2023). Eme
rging research has demonstrated knowledge as an important factor in improv
ing comfort with sexuality (Mize & Ausloos\, 2026). It is important for co
unselors\, both generalist and specialized\, to understand the role of sex
ual health and wellness in counseling practice (Pope et al.\, 2024). \nThe
webinar will explore the role of sexual health conversations within couns
eling practice and review current research related to counselor comfort\,
knowledge\, and engagement with sexual health concerns. Ethical considerat
ions and professional responsibilities related to addressing sexual health
in counseling will also be discussed. Through case examples and reflectiv
e activities\, attendees will examine factors that may facilitate or hinde
r engagement in sexual health conversations and consider how these factors
may influence client care and clinical decision-making. Practical strateg
ies for initiating and navigating sexual health conversations in ethical\,
inclusive\, and developmentally appropriate ways will be provided. \nZoom

 er 24\, 2026 \n9am-12pm PT / 11am-2pm CT / 12pm-3pm ET \nEvent held online
via Zoom\, link to access provided upon registration.
\nParticipants develop Spanish for clo
sing sessions with care: summarizing progress\, confirming next steps\, an
d setting follow-up plans. The session emphasizes continuity of care and c
lient empowerment.  \nWe practice gentle endings that protect dignity—e
specially after heavy material—using language that includes gratitude\,
hope\, and realistic planning. Participants learn how to invite final ques
tions and confirm understanding.  \nZoom link will be available on course

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special lecture by Michael Workman a new Road Sc
holar. Presented in partnership with the Road Scholars Speakers Bureau.Mic
hael Workman: Writing as Cultural Archaeology and the Poetics of PlaceSept
ember 26\, 202612:00-2:00pmDoors at 11:30am About: In this program\, art
ist and writer Michael Workman invites audiences to explore how writing\,
history\, and landscape intersect to shape cultural memory. Drawing from h
is interdisciplinary practice and from the work of artists such as Theresa
Hak Kyung Cha\, Johanna Drucker\, and Charles Reznikoff\, Workman approac
hes writing as a form of cultural archaeology—an excavation of the layer
ed relationships between language\, identity\, and place. Through this len
s\, participants are encouraged to see the local environment not only as a
backdrop but as a living archive of stories\, gestures\, and voices that
continue to inform community life across Illinois. Blending storytelling\,
performance\, and reflective discussion\, Workman leads participants thro
ugh accessible exercises that connect observation\, movement\, and writing
. Each session begins with a short reading or performance excerpt that fra
mes the concept of “poetic fieldwork\,” followed by guided writing pro
mpts and group dialogue. Participants may be asked to respond to local lan
dmarks\, historical artifacts\, or personal memories of place\, using lang
uage to uncover how geography shapes emotion and thought. Whether held in
a library\, museum\, or community center\, each presentation adapts to its
surroundings\, creating a shared space for conversation and collective di
scovery. By the end of the program\, attendees will have produced short fr
agments of writing and new ways of perceiving their environment—connecti
ng artistic practice to civic imagination. Michael Workman is a Chicago-ba
sed artist\, writer\, and sociocultural critic whose work has appeared in
the Chicago Tribune\, Guardian US\, Newcity\, and WBEZ Chicago Public Radi
o\, among other publications. He is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of B
ridge (bridge-chicago.org)\, a nonprofit publishing and programming organi
zation founded in 1999. Workman also serves as Development Officer for the
Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America and Development Coordinator at the Ukra
inian Institute of Modern Art (UIMA)\, where his grant writing has secured
major awards\, including the Andy Warhol Foundation’s Wynn Kramarsky Fr
eedom of Artistic Expression Award and the 2024 state recognition of Ukrai
nian Village as a cultural district. His writing and performance work expl
ore the intersections of language\, movement\, and place. His publications
include Propositional Attitudes (Golden Spike Press) and Perfect Worlds:
Artistic Forms & Social Imaginaries (StepSister Press)\, launched with per
formances at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Recent performances i

DESCRIPTION:Presented by Yulinda Renee Rahman\, PhD\, LCPC \nWednesday\, S
 eptember 30\, 2026 \n8am-11:15am PT / 11am-2:15pm CT / 12pm-3:15pm ET \nEv
ent held online via Zoom\, link to access provided upon registration. \nTh
is advanced clinical training examines the intersection of trauma\, embodi
ment\, and culturally grounded meaning-making in therapeutic practice. Org
anized around three integrated frameworks — Sacred\, Shadow\, and Scienc
e — the program supports clinicians in expanding their interpretive rang
e when working with clients whose healing processes draw from spiritual\,
ancestral\, somatic\, and culturally situated traditions. Drawing on traum
 a-informed care (Ranjbar et al.\, 2020)\, Polyvagal Theory (Porges\, 2011)
 \, Somatic Experiencing (Levine\, 2010)\, and body-centered approaches to
racialized trauma (Menakem\, 2017)\, the program positions cultural and em
bodied experience as central to effective trauma treatment. Clinicians wil
l examine how meaning-making systems\, shame dynamics\, nervous system reg
ulation\, and somatic awareness each contribute to the arc of trauma recov
ery\, and how clinical interpretation is shaped by the practitioner’s ow
n cultural and epistemological frameworks. \nThe program introduces three
clinical lenses applied sequentially and in integration. \nThe Sacred sect
ion examines how clients construct meaning through spiritual\, ancestral\,
and culturally rooted frameworks and how practices such as ritual\, inten
tional breathwork\, and symbolic language function as regulatory and integ
rative mechanisms. \nThe Shadow section examines the role of shame\, disow
ned experience\, and adaptive survival strategies in trauma presentations\
, using four clinical archetypes: the Wounded Protector\, the Fragmented S
elf-State\, the Over-Adapted Self\, and the Control-Seeking Part as orient
ing frameworks for clinical recognition and response. \nThe Science sectio
n draws on Polyvagal Theory (Porges\, 2011) and window-of-tolerance concep
ts (Ogden et al.\, 2006) to examine how the autonomic nervous system media
tes threat response\, social engagement\, and the conditions under which t
rauma can be processed and integrated. It is worth noting that Polyvagal T
heory has generated substantive scientific debate\, particularly regarding
its neuroanatomical claims about the functional distinction between dorsa
l and ventral vagal pathways and its evolutionary framing (Grossman\, 2023
\; Grossman et al.\, 2026). These critiques are active in the peer-reviewe
d literature and have not been fully resolved. However\, researchers and c
linicians have distinguished between the theory’s specific physiological
claims\, which remain contested\, and its clinical heuristic value\, whic
h has been broadly affirmed (Giroux et al.\, 2023\; van Lith et al.\, 2024
). \nThis program treats Polyvagal Theory as an organizing clinical framew
ork for understanding how clients move between states of activation\, shut
down\, and regulated engagement\, not as a fixed biological truth. Partici
pants are encouraged to hold the framework with the same epistemic humilit
y the program applies to all theoretical models: useful tools held with in
tellectual honesty about their limits. \nZoom link will be available on co
urse page in “My Courses” upon event registration.  \nThis program\,
when attended in its entirety\, offers 3.0 CEs for Psychologists\, 3.0 IL
CEUs for Counselors and Social Workers\, 3.0 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs
 \, LPSWs\, and LMFTs\, 3.0 AASECT CEs for Sexuality Educators\, Counselors
\, and Therapists\, or 3.0 NBCC Clock Hours.

DESCRIPTION:The 2026 UIC Law Fair Housing Conference will focus on current
issues involving fair housing enforcement. The conference will challenge
participants to think about the right to fair housing as it can be develop
ed in the future by considering how other societies and legal systems are
defining a broader right to housing.\n\nSpeakers will discuss how people w
ith disabilities can enforce the right to accessible housing\, how homeown
ers and renters can be assured access to fair and affordable insurance\, a
nd how vulnerable persons can be protected against discriminatory eviction
 s. We will also look at the 50-year history of the Community Reinvestment
Act.\n\nThe federal government is redefining fair housing enforcement. Wha
t does that mean for protected classes and how can we ensure a future that
fulfills the vision promised in the Fair Housing Act?\n\nWe invite you to

DESCRIPTION:Threshold Acoustics—the team of wizards behind the design of
Guarneri Hall—have an almost uncanny understanding of how our ears proc
ess sound\, and how the shape\, materials\, and finish of every surface in
a room can transform what we hear. In a well-designed acoustic space\, ev
ery aspect of room geometry\, materials and composition work together to
optimize the sound of the room. \n\n\n\nFor Sound Lab\, Threshold Partner
Carl Giegold and Senior Consultant Marcus Mayell will explain the princip
les of acoustic design that went into the making of Guarneri Hall. Members
of NEXUS Chamber Music and their guests will complement the discussion wi
th musical selections that will demonstrate how these forces work to perfe
ction in our space. \n\n\n\nBy the end\, we hope your ears will be foreve
r opened! \n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\nHeinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (1644-1704
