DESCRIPTION:This asynchronous\, online workshop clarifies the use of learn
ing objectives for teaching and provides concrete steps for planning and w
riting course and module objectives for your course that match what you ne
ed and want to teach. This is a one-week\, fully online\, asynchronous co
urse in Canvas facilitated by CTL Instructional Designers. The workshop co
 nsists of readings\, illustrations\, and self-checks. The self-checks are
a mix of multiple choice\, matching\, and essay questions to help you veri
fy your knowledge of objectives and also provide the opportunity for feedb
ack from the workshop facilitators. The final deliverable of the workshop
is a course map for one module of your course\, listing out module objecti
ves\, materials\, activities\, and assessments. You should plan to work c
onsistently throughout the workshop to complete the readings\, self-checks
\, and final assessment. The workshop will take around 3 hours to complete
. To be marked as complete for this workshop\, you will need to complete a
ll four self-checks and submit the final assessment (list of course object
ives with an outline of one module of one of your courses including module
  objectives\, activities\, materials\, and assessments). Workshop Objec
tives: 1. Define learning objectives\, both at the course level and the
module level. 2. Apply characteristics of good objectives to the revision
and creation of course and module objectives. 3. Apply the concept of al
ignment to the revision and creation of activities\, materials\, and asses
sments. This workshop counts towards the Essentials of Teaching and Learni
 ng Certificate.

\nCommittee Members: Dr. Beth Oyarzun\, Dr. Stella Kim\,
Dr. Casey Davenport\nAbstract:\n\nArtificial intelligence has rapidly adv
anced in recent years and now impacts many aspects of higher education. Ge
nerative artificial intelligence (GenAI) offers significant opportunities
for student learning while raising complex questions about academic integr
ity. A growing body of empirical research is emerging on how students use
GenAI\, with more limited work on what motivates that use and how students
and faculty evaluate various GenAI assisted practices. Using a quantitati
ve correlational and comparative design\, this study examined data collect
ed from students and faculty at a large public university. GenAI adoption
was widespread: 92% of students reported using GenAI\, more than 80% had u
sed it for academic purposes\, and 90% identified ChatGPT as the most comm
only used GenAI tool. Adoption rates were generally consistent across demo
graphic groups\, but differences emerged between STEM and non-STEM student
s regarding specific uses. Regression analyses supported expectancy-value
theory (EVT) as a framework for understanding GenAI adoption. Utility and
attainment were the strongest predictors of academic GenAI use\, with the
model explaining 31.8% of the variance. EVT motivational constructs and pe
rceived cost also significantly predicted students’ dishonesty evaluatio
ns of a variety of GenAI use scenarios. Faculty generally rated unacknowle
dged GenAI use as more dishonest than students did\, although both groups
shared a near identical hierarchy of ethical severity across uses. Acknowl
edging GenAI use significantly reduced perceived dishonesty across all sce
narios for both groups and substantially narrowed faculty/student percepti
on gaps. These findings underscore the importance of transparent acknowled
gment standards and clearly defined institutional guidance for responsible
  academic GenAI use.

DESCRIPTION:Members experience Corey Pemberton: Living Well through the ar
tist’s own perspective during this member-only tour led by Corey Pembert
on. \nCorey Pemberton: Living Well includes more than 70 works spanning pa
 inting\, collage\, blown glass sculpture\, quilts\, and fiber arts. Each p
iece made by Los Angeles-based artist Corey Pemberton stands on its own\,
but together creates a layered portrait of lived experience. Living Well
references the central theme of the show\, one that dominates Pemberton
’s two-dimensional work: ordinary living spaces depicting Black\, quee
r\, female\, and nonbinary individuals living in spaces and exploring how
people design and build out their living spaces with objects that reflect
 respite\, personality\, memories\, and ambitions. \nJoin us on September 1

DESCRIPTION:A blacklight bodypaint dance party where you become the art. \
nTHE THING is an immersive night where the boundary between artist\, model
\, and observer dissolves. Everyone becomes part of a living\, evolving ar
twork shaped by movement\, light\, and glowing accents added throughout th
 e night\, whether you’re dancing\, exploring\, or simply catching a vibe
with friends. \nThis Charlotte edition brings together dancers\, painters
\, makers\, and night‑life builders from across NoDa to spark a new crea
tive moment centered on expression\, connection\, and the glow of evolving
bodypaint. \nThe Space:\nStarlight on 22nd\, one of Charlotte’s most ec
lectic creative venues in CLT.For one night only\, the space transforms in
to a glowing blacklight environment filled with mystical blacklight art an
d ritual accents designed for movement\, connection\, and expressive energ
 y. \nThe Evolution:\nOnce inside\, you move freely. Bodypaint artists are
stationed throughout the venue adding small to medium glowing accents as t
he night builds. Visit The Human Scrapbooking Experience to add to your lo
 ok with glow stamps\, stickers\, and glitter. \nThe Sound:\nExpect high‑
energy DJ sets built for movement. House\, tribal\, rhythmic\, and body‑
driven tracks keep the floor alive and amplify the energy. Featuring Charl
otte‑based DJs and guest artists from the Bodypaint.Me crew. \nETHOS\, S
AFETY\, AND ETIQUETTE \nAbsolute Consent:\nPhotos are allowed\, but you mu
st ask before taking someone’s photo. \nPhysical Boundaries:\nEnjoy the
energy and respect the space. No touching without explicit\, verbal permis
sion. \nPhotography Policy:\nPersonal phone photos are welcome. Profession
al cameras\, detachable‑lens systems\, and external lighting rigs requir
e prior approval. Anyone wishing to shoot with pro gear must register in a
dvance and receive written confirmation. \nBodypaint Tip Etiquette:\nBodyp
ainting at the event is tipping‑based. This is how we support the artist
s who transform you into glowing masterpieces. \n-Small accents: $5–$10\
 n-Medium accents: $10–$20\n-Larger accents: $20–$30+ \nIf you’re uns
ure how much to tip\, ask your artist. Only Bodypaint.Me artists may paint
others\, and outside paint or markers aren’t allowed to keep the artwor
k cohesive\, safe\, and true to the vision of the night. \nExpression and
Attire:\nThis is a judgment‑free space of radical expression. Wear somet
 hing you feel great in. White\, neon\, mesh\, metallic\, textured\, sculpt
ural\, and handmade pieces glow beautifully under blacklight and give pain
ters something to build on. This night is about intentional accents that c
omplement your clothing and silhouette\, not full‑body pieces. There is
no secure storage\, so travel light and keep essentials with you. For heal
th\, safety\, and hygiene\, pasties and bottoms are required.\n\nDate and
 Time:\nFriday\, September 18\n8 PM to 12 AM \nAdmission:\nPre-sale tickets
  are $20. Day-of-Show tickets are $30. Text ‘444’ to 803-658-4168 or
visit Bodypaint.Me. \nRefreshments:\nStarlight’s bar will be open throug
hout the night with craft cocktails\, beer\, wine\, and spirits\, plus alc
ohol‑free options including botanical sodas and house‑made mocktails.
Please tip your bartenders well. \nAge:\n21+. This is an adult creative sp
ace centered on bodypaint\, body positivity\, and a non‑sexual expressiv
e atmosphere where people feel free in their own skin.
