DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lecture at the museum by Nora Annesley Taylor in
 troducing audiences to the field of modern and contemporary Southeast Asia
 n art. This program accompanies the student-curated exhibition of contempo
 rary Myanmar paintings on view in the Visual Lab in Fall 2026. \nNora An
 nesley Taylor is the Alsdorf Professor of South and Southeast Asian Art a
 t the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a specialist in the art o
 f the region. She is the author of Painters in Hanoi: An Ethnography of V
 ietnamese Art and a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship\, G
 etty Collaborative Research Award\, and is also a Fulbright Scholar. \nBri
 nging decades of research and fieldwork\, Taylor’s lecture will broaden 
 audiences’ understanding of the collection and appreciation of art from 
 across the globe.
