A deceased man’s body became a red herring\, given the false identity of Major William Martin with his pockets holding documents which seemed to co rroborate this. A photo of his (imagined) fiancée sat next to equally fic tional love letters\, in fact written by MI5 secretary Hester Leggatt. Th e false information found its way into enemy hands\, as intended\, and in doing so altered the course of the war. The corpse’s real identity – G lyndwr Michael\, a homeless man from Aberbargoed – was kept secret until 1996. Such a story doesn’t seem an obvious one for a musical comedy tro upe known as SplitLip to adapt for their debut production – let alone wi th a scene in which the German army perform a boyband style musical number .
