DESCRIPTION:As artificial intelligence tools become increasingly integrate
d into student work\, faculty face a critical question: How do we move bey
ond policies that simply restrict or detect AI use toward pedagogical appr
oaches that foster learning\, integrity\, and meaningful dialogue? This in
teractive workshop guides you through the process of articulating your cor
e teaching values and translating them into a clear AI Teaching Philosophy
. You will explore frameworks for compassionate\, productive conversations
with students about AI use and academic integrity—conversations that bu
ild trust rather than defensiveness. By the end of this session\, you will
have identified your pedagogical values and practical strategies for crea
ting a classroom culture where students understand not just the rules\, bu
t the why behind them. \n\nWhy you should attend: \n\nDistinguish between
punitive and pedagogical approaches to addressing AI use and academic inte
grity concerns.\n\nIdentify their core pedagogical values related to stude
nt learning\, intellectual development\, and academic integrity. \n\nDiscu
ss their AI Teaching philosophy and reasoning for AI permissions in their
classrooms. \n\nDevelop AI Boundaries for your classroom based on your ped
agogical values. \n\nThis session is part of the Assignment Design in the
AI Era Series\, designed to guide you through developing a coherent AI tea
ching philosophy\, redesigning assignments for authenticity and skill-buil
ding\, and creating transparent learning experiences that help students un
derstand the "why" behind their work.\n\nTo register for this event\, use
