 ledge come from? What is the difference between legend and history? How do
 es that shape our understanding of women in the Revolutionary era?\n\nAndr
 ea Freimuth is an assistant professor of history at Bluffton University. S
 he recently graduated with a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowlin
 g Green State University. Her work centers on the interpretation of early 
 American history in modern memory\, particularly the gendered representati
 ons in popular culture. To date\, much of her research has focused on Abig
