 d by Fallon Murphy\, Ph.D. Candidate in American Studies at Boston Univers
 ity.\n\n \n\nThe archival exhibition\, “Poetry is the Culture of a Peopl
 e:” Understanding Nikki Giovanni through her Archive\, focusing on the f
 irst 10 years of Giovanni’s long career\, will enable attendees to have 
 an intimate understanding of her writing and life. The exhibition will gui
 de viewers through some of Giovanni’s most well-regarded poems during th
 e Black Arts Movement\, her foray into politics in the aftermath of Martin
  Luther King Jr and Malcolm X’s assassination\, and more.  The exhibitio
 n also explores some of Giovanni’s newly discovered collaborations with 
 musicians\, including Nina Simone and Leontyne Price\, and her collaborati
 ons and intimate correspondence that demonstrate how Giovanni fits into th
 e Black feminist poetic and political networks towards the end of the 20th
  century.\n\n \n\nHosted by Boston University Libraries’ Special Collect
 ions and Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center in partnership\, the Afri
 can American & Black Diaspora Studies and American Studies programs\, the 
 BU Center for the Humanities\, the Creative Writing program\, LGBTQIA+ Cen

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the China and the Global Economic Order (2026) boo
 k talk. Authors Gregory T. Chin and Kevin Gallager trace how China has tra
 nsformed its role within and outside of the Bretton Woods Institutions (BW
 Is)\, from a “rule-taker” to a “rule-shaker” and ultimately a “r
 ule-maker” by shaping new financial institutions such as the AIIB and th
 e New Development Bank. Through the concept of “two-way countervailing p
 ower\,” Chin and Gallagher show how China’s actions\, together with ot
 her countries of the BRICS+ and Global South\, are reshaping the norms\, r
 ules\, policies and practices of global monetary and financial governance\
 , and provoking new responses from Western powers.\n\nSpeakers:\n\n\nGrego
 ry T. Chin is Associate Professor of Political Science/Political Economy a
 t York University\, Canada\, and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow with the Glo
 bal China Initiative at the Boston University Global Development Policy Ce
 nter\, and of the Foreign Policy Institute at the Johns Hopkins University
 \, School of Advanced International Studies. He is the Co-Director of the 
 Emerging Global Governance (EGG) Project at Global Policy journal online\,
  with Dr. Eva-Maria Nag. He has published widely on the international and 
 comparative political economy of China\, Asia\, the BRICS and internationa
 l money and global finance. He is on the advisory or editorial boards of t
 he journal Review of International Political Economy\, Global Governance\,
  and The Journal of East Asian Studies. Before joining York University\, D
 r. Chin worked in the Government of Canada from 2000-2007\, in Ottawa at t
 he Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Canadian 
 International Development Agency from 2000-2003\, and as First Secretary a
 t the Canadian Embassy in Beijing from 2003-2006.\n\n\nKevin P. Gallagher 
 is the Director of Boston University Global Development Policy Center and 
 a Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School
  of Global Studies at Boston University. He advises global policy on clima
 te\, debt\, and development\, including as Lead Expert on Multilateral Dev
 elopment Bank Reform for Brazil’s G20 Presidency. He co-chairs initiativ
 es on green debt relief and Belt and Road sustainability and has served on
  U.S. and international advisory bodies. A prolific author\, he has writte
 n eight books\, with his latest China and the Global Economic Order publis
