DESCRIPTION:Synergy and BUILD617 are partnering to provide rent-free space
for at least a year. Build617 will select the early-stage AI startups\, g
iving founders a place to work together and build their companies in Bosto
n.\nThe bigger picture: Downtown has the space. Boston has the talent. And
Synergy isn’t the only Downtown property owner making room for AI start
ups.\n\nThe Massachusetts AI Coalition and people like Cory Munchbach and
Ryan Durkin are working to build on that momentum.\n\nThe pieces are alrea
dy coming together. This could be just the start of a vibrant and thriving
new tech ecosystem in the heart of Downtown.\n\nRead the full article!

 PM\, Thursday\, 24 September 2026\nMIT Room 32-G449 (Kiva) and online via
Zoom\n\n\nWhat Can Hardware Do for Computer Security?\nSrini Devadas\, MIT
\n\nPlease register in advance for this seminar even if you plan to attend
 \nin person at https://acm-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/2917867533665/WN_2

w much pizza to order.\n\nWe may make some auxiliary material such as slid
es and access to the recording available after the seminar to people who h
ave registered.\n\n \n\nAbstract:\n\n\nHardware can help solve challenging
security problems from secure key storage to real-time monitoring of atta
cks to shrinking the Trusted Computing Base (TCB). Of course\, hardware vu
lnerabilities can also cause software systems to fail. In this talk\, we f
ocus on the synergies between hardware and cryptography\, and first descri
be recent research in using hardware acceleration to speed up cryptography
and enable the design of more efficient cryptographic protocols. We explo
re how cryptography helps to secure hardware systems and whether new secur
ity definitions can help with the design of secure hardware.\n\n \n\nBio:\
n\n \n\nSrini Devadas is the Webster Professor of EECS at the Massachusett
s Institute of Technology\, where he has been on the faculty since 1988.
Devadas's current research interests are in computer architecture\, comput
er security\, and applied cryptography. In 2021\, he received the IEEE Cyb
ersecurity Award for Practice\, and the ACM SIGSAC Award for\nOutstanding
Innovation for his work on secure hardware.\n\n \n\nHe received the ACM-IE
EE Computer Society Eckert-Mauchly Award in 2026 for his contributions to
computer and digital systems architecture. https://awards.acm.org/eckert-m
auchly\n\n \n\nYou can see an overview of current projects and courses at
