DESCRIPTION:The Bowery Presents Sondre Lerche\nwith special guest Wendy Ei
senberg\nSondre Lerche has always been a romantic. Whether it be the songs
he wrote as a teen for his critically acclaimed 2001 debut\, Faces Down\,
or starring as the love-lorn Christian in the Norwegian stage production
of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. In 2026\, though\, his love of\, well\, love
is shot through with a kind of defiance.\n\nGet tickets now!\n\n\n $('#g
 etTixButton').click(function() {\n    fbq('track'\, 'Purchase'\, {currency
 : "USD"\, value: 0.00})\;\n })\;\n\n\n“There’s a dissonance between t
he increasingly dystopian world we live in and finding beauty and peace in
your private life\,” he says. “It feels almost like a paradox that I
’m blessed to have landed in a life and a love that is very meaningful a
nd true. And\, at the same time\, it feels impossible to write a love song
without taking into account the terrible things that are happening in the
  world.”\n\nThe result is Lerche’s 11th studio album\, Acrobats\, an e
ight-song suite that pingpongs between joy and introspection\, loss and lo
ve. Recorded across nine studios with a gaggle of creatives\, it’s a per
haps more sobering followup up 2022’s Avatars of Love — although no le
 ss brimming with passion.\n\n“If there’s one theme to this album\, I s
uppose it is finding love in times of great unrest and hopelessness\," Ler
che says. And that’s precious.\n\nDoors open at 7:00 PM\nShow begins at
7:30 PM\n\n\nArts at the Armory serves delicious locally sourced food and
drink at the Performance Hall bar when doors open (usually one hour before
the show). Please arrive early to enjoy dinner and drinks before the even

icians—his father V. Lakshminarayana was a celebrated Carnatic vocalist
and violinist—Shankar began vocal training at age two and gave his first
solo concert at seven. He went on to earn a doctorate in ethnomusicology
from Wesleyan University\, where he connected with jazz musicians includin
g Ornette Coleman and John McLaughlin.\n\nL. Shankar is known for inven
ting the double violin—a stereophonic double-necked electric violin\; he
debuted the instrument in 1981 on Phil Collins’ solo album (Face Value
) and on his own album (Who’s to Know). He has released over 20 albums a
nd dozens of unique and legendary collaborations including many recordings
and tours with artists like Peter Gabriel\, PIL\, Talking Heads\, Yoko O
no\, Echo and The Bunnyman\, among others. Shankar co-wrote the Grammy no
minated soundtrack Passion for the Martin Scorsese film Last Temptati
 on of Christ.\n\nNow considered a living legend\, a pioneer\, and a musica
 l genius\, L. Shankar is a prolific international touring artist. With a c
areer spanning decades\, L. Shankar’s devotion to making groundbreaking
music continues - in 2024 he released two world music albums: Full Moon
and Over the Stars\, followed by the star-studded pop-rock album Answers
in 2025.\n\nFor this Spotlight performance Shankar will perform his orig
inal Indian classical ragas and compositions along with a handful of class
ic Shakti pieces. He will be accompanied by an all star duo of percussion
including fellow Shakti family member Selvaganesh Vinayakram\, who is a t
wo-time Grammy Award winning member of Shakti and also the son of original
Shakti member Vikku Vinyakram. On tabla is Amit Kavthekar\, a longtime
student of the late great Zakir Hussain and Zakir's father Ustad Alla Rakh
 a. Amit is regarded as one of the top-ranking tabla players of his generat
ion regularly playing with master musicians of Indian music such as Amjad
Ali Khan to jazz musicians such as Al Di Meola.\n\nL. Shankar: double vio

ongs soaked in nature imagery and beautifully married to Sissoko’s intri
cate\, dazzling playing' - The Guardian\n\nTwo decades after their first
 ever collaboration\, British-Italian folk songwriter\, Piers Faccini\, and
Malian kora virtuoso\, Ballaké Sissoko\, return with a mesmerizing album
. This new and captivating musical dialogue — between a prodigious instr
umentalist at the height of his powers and a gifted songwriter and wordsmi
th — deftly bridges continents and traditions\, inventing new song forms
.\n\nThe seeds of Our Calling were first planted when Sissoko and Faccini
met at Label Bleu in the early 2000s. Their friendship grew as they linked
and explored uncharted paths between Manding traditions and folksong form
 s. With its ten finely crafted tracks\, Our Calling is a sonic and narrati
ve praise song for migration in all its manifestations: seeds borne by the
winds\; Nightingales flying between West Africa and Europe at the turn of
the seasons\; humans\, across the centuries\, and along trade routes\, sh
aring musical practices and rhythms.\n\nThe album’s originality is that
it feels deeply Malian at its core\, while also being seamlessly infused w
ith an essence of folk songwriting\; the two elements blending without one
ever overshadowing the other. The duo’s ambition when they began imagin
ing the album was clear: the musical language begins and ends with Manding
traditions and modes. The songs had that creative brief. Their melodies\,
although sung in English\, are constructed and stepped along Manding line
s.\n\nThe originality of Sissoko and Faccini’s dialogue is best exemplif
ied with the song “If Nothing is Real” — a song that succeeds in fin
ding a home away from home\, both on the African and European continents.
It is a testament to the Nightingale\, or Sorofé Kono in Bambara\, the so
ngbird that first inspired these old friends to compose music of their own
calling.\n\n\nArts at the Armory serves delicious locally sourced food an

his first book.\n\nNo Land to Stand On is a revelatory and powerful testam

olitically charged odyssey that took the Palestinian graduate student and
legal resident from his pregnant wife and home in New York City\, transpor

DESCRIPTION:The Bowery Presents Liana Flores\nGet Your Tickets!\n\nDoors o
pen at 7:00 PM\nShow begins at 8:00 PM\n Liana Flores Biog \n“This rec
ord is the story of the country girl moving to the city\,” Liana Flores
says. “It’s bossa nova meets pop\, inspired by the people\, relationsh
ips and glamour of city life.” \nSince the release of her acclaimed 202
4 debut album Flower of the soul\, British-Brazilian singer-songwriter Lia
na Flores has been at the forefront of a bossa nova revival. Drawing on th
e ‘60s sound of genre pioneers like Joao Gilberto alongside pop songwrit
ing\, Flores combines the dual aspects of her cultural heritage to create
an emotive sound. \nFollowing extensive tour dates across North America\,
Asia and Europe\, Flores now returns with a new EP\, And so it goes…\,
that expands her palette to encompass the playful and ebullient experience
s of moving from her rural hometown in Norfolk to St. Andrews before comin
g to London. The result is a six track collection that shifts between fing
er-picked guitar and gossamer bossa vocals of “So it goes” to the upbe
at funk inflections of the heavy-grooving love song “So mysterious”\,
the Carole King-influenced folk storytelling of “Here to stay\,” and t
he sprightly\, glittering pop melodies of “Silvershoes.” \n“These s
ongs were informed by my experiences living in the city and touring for th
e first time. I grew up and studied in small towns with nature in my surro
undings\, so that’s what came naturally in terms of lyrics. With So it g
oes\, the lyrics are more centred on human connection\, and I wanted to ex
plore a part of my identity that’s more playful and matter-of-fact. I al
so wanted to challenge myself to write songs with strong melodies that wou
ld be fun to sing or to get ready to.” \nRaised by an immigrant Brazili
an mother and British father in East Anglia\, Flores first began learning
music while listening to ‘80s and ‘90s bossa nova artists like Bebel G
ilberto and Leila Pinheiro alongside Top 40 pop radio. In her late teens\,
she picked up a guitar and started emulating finger-picked bossa nova gui
tar chords by ear\, first covering Tom Jobim standards\, then writing her
own songs combining the bossa guitar style with her own introspective lyri
 cs\, expressing loneliness\, self-doubt\, and endurance. \n“Music is th
e way I best communicate and connect with the world\, through the listener
\, collaboration with fellow musicians\, and the guidance of my musical fo
rbears. I'm particularly drawn to the use of sophisticated harmonic struct
ures in popular song - Tom Jobim\, Kate Bush Stevie Wonder and Brian Wilso
n were early inspirations.” \nDebut EP The Water’s Fine! was released
in 2018\, while ensuing 2019 EP Recently delved deeper into Flores’ cur
rent reimagining of Brazilian singer-songwriting with its combination of s
yncopated melodies and warm vocal harmony. EP track “rises the moon” b
ecame a surprise hit\, picking up traction across TikTok and social media
in 2021\, although by that point Flores had decided to take a break from m
aking music and focus on her degree instead. \n“I thought music had run
its course for me by that point to be honest”\, she says\, “the ‘re
cently’ songs were written at a particularly intense time as a sort of p
ressure valve\, and by the time \n\n\n\nArts at the Armory serves delicio
