Skerry\, PhD\, has curated exhibitions\, lectured\, and written widely on the topics of silver\, ceramics\, and dining in England and America. In 1908\, the reform-minded club leaders founded a pottery to provide the girls with a clean and educational venue in which to earn money. They named the enterprise the Paul Revere Pottery in honor of the p atriot’s home which stood near their clubhouse\, and to emphasize their own desire to be seen as Americans\, not foreign immigrants. The pottery e xemplified the ideals of the early twentieth-century Arts and Crafts movem ent\, a design reform movement which sought to alleviate the negative soci al effects of industrialized society by promoting hand craftsmanship\, the integration of art into everyday life\, and healthy working conditions fo r artisans. \nNonie Gadsden is the Katharine Lane Weems Senior Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston (MFA)\, where she is responsible for a wide range of artwork including de corative arts and sculpture from North\, Central and South America\, from ancient times through the 20th century. Her recent work includes a leaders hip role in reimagining of the 18th-century galleries in the MFA’s Art o f the Americas Wing to mark the 250th anniversary of the nation (2026)\, c urating the exhibition “Toshiko Takaezu: Shaping Abstraction” (2023-24 )\, serving as lead curator for “Women Take the Floor” (2019-2021)\; d eveloping new 20th century galleries\, including “Art and Jazz” and “Folk Meets Modernism” (opened 2022)\; and a publication based on the MFA’s collection of American modern design\, America Goes Modern: The Ri se of the Industrial Designer (2022). Peters will discuss how invasive species\, d evelopment\, and ecological imbalance threaten these traditions—and how restoration efforts to bring native plants back can help renew both the la ndscape and the cultural practices rooted within it. \nPaula Peters is the founder of the Native American creative agency SmokeSygnals\, an indepen dent scholar and a politically\, socially\, and culturally active member o f the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. As an independent scholar and writer of Nat ive\, and particularly Wampanoag history\, she is a producer of the travel ing exhibit “Our” Story: 400 Years of Wampanoag History and is curre ntly engaged in the Wampum Belt Project in search of the lost treasures of Metacom\, including an effort to restore the art and tradition of wampum making among her people. She is the executive producer of the 2016 documen tary film Mashpee Nine and author of the companion book. She lives with her extended family in Mashpee and travels internationally to speak and ed ucate on the true Wampanoag story. Gaining distinct popularity by the end of the nineteenth century\, “crazy” quilting was more than a technique\, but how makers kept recor d of what mattered to them. What did it mean to spend hundreds of hours of nimble labor into something you’d sleep under every night? These quilts reveal how ordinary women turned scraps and keepsakes into personal archi ves—and what their quilts can still tell us about the relationship betwe en memory and material culture today. \nTenesha Carter Johnson is a curato r and cultural historian\, with a particular investment in American quilt and textile histories. Her work explores the relationship between material culture and public history\, wherein quilts serve as records of lived exp erience and historical intervention.
