DESCRIPTION:Honoring those who make a positive impact on the growth and ad
vancement of women.\nThe WCA Board of Directors is proud to announce the r
 ecipient\nof the 2026 Joyce Stein Memorial Award\, Angela Taylor!\n  \n
\nAngela’s story is rooted in Idaho. Raised in Mountain Home as part of
  a military family\, she went on to become a four-year varsity letter-winn
er at Stanford University\, helping lead the women’s basketball team to
two NCAA national championships. That was just the beginning. She built a
distinguished 20-year career in the sports industry\, serving as president
and general manager of the Atlanta Dream and vice president and general m
anager of the Washington Mystics\, leading that team to back-to-back WNBA
Playoffs. She coached women’s basketball at Stanford\, Texas A&M\, and t
he University of Arizona\, and today serves as a basketball analyst for ES
PN\, Fox Sports\, and the ACC Network. She could have planted roots anywhe
re. She chose to come home to Idaho — and this community is better for i
 t. \nWhat Angela has built since returning is extraordinary in both its br
eadth and its intentionality. As co-founder of the Dignitas Agency dignita
sagency.com\, she delivers executive coaching and leadership development r
ooted in equity strategy\, working with everyone from Fortune 500 companie
s to startups to build inclusive cultures that last. Through First Fridays
Boise\, she created a monthly professional gathering space for people of
color — particularly women — in a region where those networks have his
torically been scarce. Through iWIN Sports https://www.iwinsportsix.com an
d the Taylor LEAD Foundation https://www.taylorleadscholarship.com\, she i
s putting girls directly into athletic programs with the funding\, mentors
hip\, and advocacy infrastructure to keep them there. And she does all of
this while donating her time and presence to countless other regional orga
nizations\, showing up not just as a visionary but as a neighbor. \nWhat d
istinguishes Angela isn’t any single initiative — it’s the throughli
ne of intentionality across all of them. She doesn’t build tables and wa
lk away. She pulls up chairs\, finds the voices that have been excluded\,
and makes sure they’re heard. She is the kind of leader this award was c
reated to recognize: someone who doesn’t wait for change\, but makes it
 — one woman\, one girl\, one community at a time. \nRSVP to this year’
s Award Celebration here. \n\n \nThe Joyce Stein Memorial Award is given
in memory of Boisean Joyce Ann Stein\, a long-time supporter of the WCA (Y
WCA). Each year an individual who has made a positive impact on the growth
and advancement of women is honored. \nBack in 1973\, Joyce Stein partici
pated in a new women’s group that began as the result of a women’s con
ference held at Boise State College. The group wanted to continue discussi
ons surrounding women’s issues and joined with the YWCA to open the Wome
n’s Center in the basement of the YWCA. Joyce Stein\, as a founding memb
er and the first director of the Women’s Center\, took on the issue of s
exism in our community. As the group studied the prevalence of the issue\,
they came to the conclusion that domestic violence was a prevalent proble
m—which led to the YWCA’s involvement in the prevention of domestic vi
olence. The elimination of sexism and domestic violence became the foundat
ion for the organization’s work. After her untimely death in 1979\, the
YWCA named its highest award in her memory and has awarded this special re
 cognition every year since 1980.

overlapping missions\, the organizations believed Boise was ready for a n

DESCRIPTION:May 14\, 2026 Play On Shakespeare Landmark Five-Year Partners
hipIdaho Shakespeare Festival\, Great Lakes Theater\, Lake Tahoe Shakesp
eare Festival and Play On Shakespeare Launch Landmark Five-Year Partnershi
p Idaho Shakespeare Festival (ISF\; Boise\, ID)\, Great Lakes Theater (GL
T\; Cleveland\, OH)\, and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (LTSF\; Incline
Village\, NV) are proud to announce a major new partnership with Play On
Shakespeare\, the nonprofit commissioning contemporary modern verse transl
ations of the complete works of William Shakespeare. This ambitious collab
oration marks the launch of a five-year artistic and educational initiati
ve designed to expand access to Shakespeare through bold new translations
 \, innovative productions\, and far-reaching community engagement across m
ultiple regions of the United States. The partnership will launch in 2026
with a new modern verse translation of The Winter’s Tale\, written an
d directed by acclaimed playwright Tracy Young. The production will open
at Idaho Shakespeare Festival in Boise in August 2026 before traveling to
Great Lakes Theater in Cleveland\, where it will help inaugurate the compa
ny’s 65th Anniversary Season that fall. “Our partnership with Play
On Shakespeare expands the artistry at the core of our work\,” shares S
ara Bruner\, Producing Artistic Director for GLT\, ISF and LTSF. “Shakes
peare remains central to who we are\, and these translations offer a powe
rful\, immediate way for audiences to connect to these works.  We are com
mitted to producing the Bard’s work alongside bold translations and Shak
espeare-adjacent pieces that keep the canon in active conversation with th
e present. This isn’t about replacing the classics\, but expanding acce
ss to them and creating more pathways for audiences to experience the dep
th and humanity of these stories. This is text-based theater at its most v
ital—language that moves\, connects and reflects our shared humanity in
real time.”  Reimagining Shakespeare for Today’s AudiencesPlay On Sha
kespeare has commissioned playwrights from across the country to create co
ntemporary translations of Shakespeare’s plays that preserve the poetry
and dramatic structure of the originals while offering language that reson
ates with modern audiences. Over the next five years\, GLT\, ISF and LTSF
will collaborate with Play On to bring these translations to life through
an ambitious slate of work\, including four full productions across five s
easons\, a newly commissioned world premiere translation of Hamlet and
touring/multi-venue performances shared among all three organizations. At
least one production will travel to all three partner theatres\, creating
a uniquely connected Shakespeare experience across the country. “The par
tnership between Play On Shakespeare and Idaho Shakespeare Festival\, Grea
t Lakes Theater and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival grew through years of
  careful\, rigorous collaboration — production-based partnerships that
spotlighted individual Shakespeare translations\,” explains Sally Cad
e Holmes\, Play On Shakespeare’s Head of Partnerships. “This next chap
ter expands that foundation. We remain committed to production-based work
\, but we’re equally excited to deepen our investment in Shakespeare acc
ess and theatrical innovation through multi-year collaborations with value
s-aligned institutions. Under Sara Bruner’s leadership\, all three orga
nizations share our dedication to exploring the ever-expanding ecosystem o
f Shakespeare translation\, inviting playwrights into rehearsal rooms and
shaping the future of theatrical practice.” A Partnership Rooted in Comm
unityBeyond the stage\, the partnership includes a robust slate of commu
nity-centered initiatives designed to deepen engagement with Shakespeare a
cross generations. These programs include Community Schools programming i
n Boise using shortened Play On translations\, support for Idaho Shakespea
re Festival’s statewide school touring initiative called Shakespearienc
e beginning in 2027\, summer drama school offerings for students running
from 2026 through 2030 and seasonal workshops that bring together artists\
, educators and community members to explore the plays in collaborative an
d inclusive ways. Together\, these initiatives reflect a shared commitment
to making Shakespeare more inclusive and relevant for learners of all age
 s. Equity and Artistic CollaborationA central value of the partnership is
a shared commitment to equitable representation in casting and artistic pr
actice. Play On defines this as fostering ensembles that reflect a wide ra
nge of lived experiences\, including race\, gender identity\, ability and
age\, while creating meaningful opportunities for artists and communities
that have been historically underrepresented in Shakespearean performance.
Play On Shakespeare will further support the partnership through a dedica
ted Resident Dramaturg\, Dr. Lue M. Douthit\, Play On Shakespeare’s Se
nior Dramaturg & Co-Founder. Dr. Douthit will collaborate closely with all
three organizations to provide dramaturgical insight\, audience engagemen
t content and creative consultation throughout the partnership. Looking Ah
eadWith productions\, workshops\, educational initiatives and new translat
ions on the horizon\, this partnership represents a bold new chapter for S
hakespeare in the American theater. One that connects more people to Shake
speare through vibrant\, accessible language and ideas. About Idaho Shakes
peare FestivalIdaho Shakespeare Festival has been creating “great theat
