DESCRIPTION:Prof. Diana Reddy will present an anti-discrimination paradigm
for the bad jobs economy. Sixty years after Title VII became law\, Black\
, Latino\, and other workers of color are dramatically overrepresented in
 gig\, contingent\, and sub-minimum-wage work\, and women still predominate
in the forty lowest-paying occupations in the American economy. Most scho
larship on the failures of antidiscrimination law focuses either on the ev
olving nature of prejudice or on judicial erosion of pro-plaintiff doctrin
es. However\, Reddy argues that discrimination law fails the workers who n
eed it most because it remains premised on an increasingly outdated unders
tanding of where\, why\, and how labor market discrimination predominates.

DESCRIPTION:The UC Berkeley AI and Society Initiative is hosting a communi

compromising HuggingFace systems\, OpenAI agents using a German programmi
ng wiki to communicate\, and Anthropic reporting several cases of Claude m
odels gaining unauthorized access to real-world systems. \nThese revelatio
ns have resulted in more questions than answers. How are security breaches
or failures typically discovered? Who is held responsible and how are the
y held accountable? How do “AI” technologies\, particularly LLM agents
and swarms\, come into the picture? \nWe’ll be hearing from Clarence C
 hio\, Co-Founder & CEO of Coverbase\, Chris Hoofnagle\, faculty director
of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology and Professor at the School
of Information\, and Starchy Grant\, Principal Systems Administrator at t

andscape of cybersecurity\, the standard regulatory/legal frameworks acros

 e.com/l/6khdrLZAWelcome to a twice-monthly drop-in Relatefulness practice
with Josh Rosenberg and Daniel Ricciardelli.A close friend of relational p
ractices like Circling™\, Authentic Relating\, and T-Group\, Relatefulne
ss is an exploration of what is honestly coming up in the present moment a
s we relate to the others in the group. We will notice our relational patt
erns\, emotions\, body sensations\, and other aspects of our experience. W
e'll name what we notice and share it with the group to help all of us mor
e clearly see each other and our broader social reality.Relatefulness has
value as a complement to traditional meditation practices. By placing awar
eness on ourselves\, in connection with each other\, in a collective group
\, we can:Discover new\, more enjoyable ways of relating to our experience
and to one another.Take our personal growth insights and test drive them
in an interpersonal context.Find healing connection by being deeply seen a
nd understood. This practice tends to bring us to the edge of what we're ab
le to hold in our awareness. Because of this\, participants are invited to
take care of themselves as needed\, either by stepping away from the expe
rience if need be or by leading us into a new way of being with each other
.Logistics:There is a large\, free parking lot at The AlembicDoors close a

of music\, movies\, and comedy\, participating in Michael Taft's meditati
on courses\, or passionately following the New York Jets football team des
pite its many flaws. In his day job Josh is CEO at the Forecasting Research

 -Present-Moment-Game-with-Alli-Magidsohn/137207456When we gather with othe
rs\, conversation almost automatically drifts into what has already happen
ed or what might happen next. Stories\, plans\, explanations\, reactions
—these patterns are so normal that we barely notice just how much we rel
ate to one another through the lens of the past and the future. But when th
ose habits pause\, something surprising occurs. The room changes.Attention
sharpens.A different kind of connection begins to emerge.A small clearing
inside awareness opens—a place where no future is rehearsing itself and
no echoes from the past are allowed to enter. We can touch this space in s
olo contemplative practices\, but it’s rare to enter it with others. The
Present Moment Game is a simple social meditation designed to explore that
possibility. For one hour\, a small group agrees to step into this clearin
g and stay inside the moment. What unfolds is often unexpected—and never
the same twice. We call it a game because it can be playful. But it’s al
so something more: an invitation to discover what becomes possible when a
group of people agree to be fully here\, now\, together.Curious to learn m

perimental social meditation practice that offers a simple yet powerful wa
y to drop into the Now.After being introduced to T-Group in 2018\, Alli no
ticed that what interested her most wasn’t the relational mechanics of t
he practice\, but the context itself—the felt sense of a group of people
paying close attention to what was happening in real time.So she took the
core context of T-Group—the present moment—and turned it into the act
ual subject of the inquiry. Inspired in part by the linguistic principles
of E-Prime\, she added a few simple constraints that gently guide conversa
tion away from the past and future and into what's happening right now.The
result is The Present Moment Game\, a playful yet profound invitation to
explore what it means to really be together in community\, right here\, no
