DESCRIPTION:Chair Yoga with Shari Ser\nA monthly class in person\nOn a Sun
 day from 3 – 4:15 pm:\nOct 4\nNov 1\nDec 13\nChairs offer a supported an
d accessible approach to yoga practice. Using a chair as a primary prop to
bring stability\, clarity\, and ease to each pose. It is not a “lesser
” practice—it is a precise and intelligent way of working that can dee
pen awareness and refine action. \nPostures are adapted so that students c
an experience the essential shape and intention of each asana with less st
rain. The chair helps to improve balance\, and create space in the body\,
making the practice suitable for those recovering from injury\, navigating
fatigue\, or simply seeking a more supported experience. \nAt the same ti
me\, yoga with a chair can be surprisingly challenging. With the support o
f the chair\, we are able to stay longer\, observe more closely\, and work
with greater sensitivity. This often reveals new pathways of strength\, m
obility\, and understanding. \nThis class invites a steady\, attentive pra
ctice—one that meets you where you are and helps you move toward greater
integration\, stability\, and ease. \nThis will be a covid cautious month
ly yoga class.  Shari will bring high quality KN 95 masks for students th
at choose to wear one. Shari herself will be masked teaching the class. Ma
sking is a way to continue to take care of our community especially our ol
der and immunocompromised students who may be missing the availability of
in person covid safer group classes. \nWe plan this class to happen once a
month\, on a Sunday 3 – 4:15 pm.  Register for each one individually.
\nWho is this class for? \nMobile people who want to use a chair as a prim
ary prop to aid in a practice either due to age\, debility\, surgical reco
very\, balance or chronic illness. You must be able to independently get u
p and down from the floor.  Some experience with yoga would be helpful. \

 EGISTER HERE\n  \nAbout your instructor:\n \nShari Ser (she/her) is a Cer

 ober 23 – 25\, 2026 in-person\nOur weekend together is your opportunity
to boost your teaching skills within a supportive community of colleagues.
Our focus will be on helping method. \nThis session of Progression of
Teaching will specifically focus on observation and correction skills suc
h as how to hone our powers of observation.  What to observe and how to i

Yoga Philosophy we will take a deep look at the kleshas\, how to work wit
h these afflictions in both our teaching and as Sadhakas. \nOver the three
days\, we will reflect on the balancing act required for effective teachi
ng.  Teaching Iyengar Yoga requires you to help individual students while
moving the entire classroom forward.  This requires knowledge of the asa
na you are teaching\, an easily accessible toolkit of modifications and co
rrections AND strong decision making skills regarding what you say and wha
t you don’t say. \nOver the three days\, you will consider your own exis
ting strengths and uncover the skills that are ready for maturation.  You
will get more experience in the well-timed application of instruction\, o
 bservation\, correction and demonstration. \n  \nThe schedule \nFriday: \

BKS Iyengar\nProgression of Teaching is a cornerstone of our teacher supp

teaching skills. Our weekend gathers are forum from which to build enduri
ng relationships with peers and teachers. \nThis program is open to anyone
who is trained as an Iyengar Yoga teacher. We offer support in your sadha
na\, in teaching and career exploration\, gathering twice a year. \nTeachi
ng yoga in an effective way is a very complex endeavor.  It can be so dif
ficult to know what to teach\, why to teach and how much to teach whether
you are teaching online\, in-person or hybrid\, with masks and without mas
ks\, across diverse venues including public classes in a studio\, private
lessons at home\, corporate venues\, college campuses and in community cen
ters.  Our students have a huge diversity of urgent needs and interests.
That is why our time to come together is so valuable.  It is a time to
be with your friends and colleagues and to learn from each other. \n \nDu
ring our time together you will: \n\nEnhance your understanding of poses f
rom Level 1 all the way to Level 3 syllabus.\nPractice teaching to build y
our skills and confidence working with a range of bodies and situations.\n
Develop confidence in sequencing these poses so that you can progress your
own practice.\nUse the teaching skills at your level to convey the essenc
e of Yoga.\nDive deeper into the source materials.\nGet feedback on your o
wn teaching.\n\nOptional homework is given prior to each meeting.  This i
s your way to study the syllabi in a focused way and get feedback on both
the required knowledge and theoretical aspects of Iyengar Yoga.  Doing th
e homework – and receiving personal feedback on it – is a central part
of every Progression of Teaching gather. \nWhat are the thorny poses you
want to look at? Doubts to discuss? Bring your questions. Participants wil

velopment opportunity for Iyengar Yoga teachers and trainees as well as ex
perienced practitioners wishing to deepen their practice and understanding
of yoga and its therapeutic applications. As yoga students each of us nee
ds to be able to solve problems in our own practice. \nThe approach starts
from the participants own practice\, showing how familiar asanas can be m
odified to address specific needs. Each part of the series focuses on prac
tical adaptations to support students facing common difficulties in their
yoga practice. \nThe emphasis is on learning the asana from the inside out
 \, by understanding its internal experience—tone\, intensity\, form—an
 d how elemental factors—gravity\, balance\, space\, movement and stabili
ty—change according to the arrangement and adaptation of each asana. \nW
ho Can Attend?\nThis course is open to: \n\nCertified Iyengar Yoga teacher

spect of observation. \nDay 3: Learning specific adjustments and adaptatio
ns for the students that require help. Adjustments can be carried out for
a variety of reasons\, to enable\, to correct\, and to educate the student
\, so that the pose works more directly and the effects are accessible for
the student. \nDay 4: Adjustments and adaptations continue and the introd
uction to understanding the purpose and correct usage of props. Props as w
ith adaptations can be for enabling\, correcting and educating. They can a
lleviate situations difficult to bear as well as provide a portal for the
student to understand their inner body. \n  \nAbout Stephanie Quirk \nSte

nayama therapeutically. \n  \nQuestions you may have:\nDo I have to atten

e at least 2 years experience studying Iyengar Yoga consistently. \nYou ca
n expect that the retreat will be physically demanding and deeply transfor
mative. \nWe have a “non-yoga participant” rate if you plan to attend
 with a partner or friend. \n\n\nI AM INTERESTED!\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nGETTING
THERE\n\n\n  \nLos Cabos is the most convenient in terms of options. Man
y airlines fly into Los Cabos (Cabos San Lucas). It’s a 2 hr drive to Ba
ja Serenity. \nOur local participants tend to choose Southwest\, Alaska Ai
r or Volaris as they offer flights from Oakland and San Francisco to Los C
abos. \nOnce you arrive\, travel from the airport is straightforward.  We
will arrange group transportation.  Or\, if you are staying longer or co
ming early\, you can rent a car. \nIf you do want to rent a car\, we can a
ssist with options prior to your arrival. This option will give you more f
reedom to drive around and explore the surroundings. Baja Serenity recomme
nds BBB Car Rental in Los Cabos. \nWhen considering your travel arrangemen
 ts\, we start on Saturday @ 2 pm and end on Friday @ 11 am. \n  \n  \nLE
