For Carla Hall\, baking is a creative outlet\, her source of play\, and he
r first true passion. But her journey from absolute beginner to Top Chef f

ookbook author and guest judge on multiple baking competitions\, Carla is
ready to share all her baking knowledge that will guide you whether you’
re at novice baker or an expert one. Carla Bakes is filled with over 80 re
cipes for baking savory and sweet goods rooted in her Southern traditions
and inspired by her world travels. Carla brings her joy and playfulness to
every recipe\, showing you just how much fun it is to bake and bring your
own twists to new recipes\, including:\n\n \n\n• breakfast treats like

tis with Tomatoes\, Goat Cheese\, and Smoky Tomato Curd\n• cookies like

a Bakes will leave you feeling confident and inspired in your kitchen! \n\
n \n\nCarla Hall will be joined in conversation by Karsonya Wise Whitehead
\, host of Today with Dr. Kaye on WEAA 88.9 FM.\n\n \n\nAbout the Author:

Chew for seven years\, appearing on the Food Network on various baking sh
ows and now on Next Level Baker on Fox. She is also the host of the Emmy-w
inning travel-food series Chasing Flavor on HBO Max. Carla is the author o
 r co-author of five cookbooks—including the NAACP Image Award–nominate
d Carla Hall’s Soul Food—and two children’s books. She also hosts th
e hit podcast Chewed Up and created and stars in her acclaimed one-woman s

\n\nPlease note: this event will take place offsite at Our Time Kitchen i
 n Old Goucher.\n\n117 West 24th Street\nBaltimore\, MD 21218\n\n \n\nEnoch
Pratt Free Library is thrilled to partner with Our Time Kitchen to bring
you a series of hands-on culinary workshops. Our Time supports minority wo
men\, and marginalized genders\, who want to build food businesses by lowe
ring systemic barriers and creating access to resources in a supportive en
vironment.\n\n \n\nEach month\, a featured chef from Our Time Kitchen will
share their food journey and a favorite dish they love to cook. You will
have the opportunity to see first hand the step-by-step process they take
in making one of their favorite recipes. There will be opportunities to he
lp prepare and taste the final dish\, and everyone will take a complete re
cipe home. September will feature Chef Cassie of Socialized Catering.
