DESCRIPTION:Based on the bestselling book “At the Wolf’s Table” by I
talian author Rosella Postorino\, THE TASTERS follows a group of women who
were recruited by the SS in 1943 to make sure that the food being served
to Hitler was not poisoned. Forced to eat what might kill them\, the taste
rs start to split into two factions: those loyal to Hitler and those who i
nsist they aren’t Nazis\, even as they risk their lives everyday for the
Führer.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHY WE LIKE THIS FILM: In 2012\, at the age
of 95\, shortly before her death\, a woman named Margot Wölk revealed tha
t she had been one of the young German women forced to taste Hitler’s me
als. No one had ever known about the existence of the food tasters. Margot
Wölk was the only one among them to survive the end of the war. Her stor
y inspired both the novel and the film. Although the Jewish content isn’
t immeidately obvious\, it becomes revealed towards the end of the movie.

rainage systems on Mars\, and how the planet’s lack of plate tectonics s
haped its unique landscape and potential for life. By studying relic river

DESCRIPTION:An Intimate Night with Elana James and Hot FriendsThe Cactus C
afe has long been one of the great American listening rooms — a small st
age where the room leans in and the music does the talking. But that doesn
't mean anyone's sitting still: it's the kind of room where you can tap yo
ur feet or let loose right along with the band.\nElana James co-founded Ho
t Club of Cowtown and has gone on to become one of the world's premier amb
assadors of Western swing\, earning induction into both the International
Western Music Association's Hall of Fame and the Texas Western Swing Hall
of Fame. She also became the first dedicated female instrumentalist in Bob
Dylan's touring band in more than thirty years\, later returning to tour
with him again. Fresh off the road with Hot Club — including a run at Bi
rdland in New York City — Elana brings that same fire home for an intima
te evening steeped in the crossroads of country\, swing\, and jazz that ha
s defined her music for decades.\nFor this special night\, she'll be joine
d by veterans of the Austin swing scene\, bringing decades of shared histo
ry and musical chemistry to a room built for exactly this kind of evening.
\nWhether you're there for the fireworks or ready to Stay All Night\, this
crowd won't want the evening to end.Parking note: After 6 PM\, street par
king is generally available around campus and along the Drag.\n\n \n\nBuy
