a leader in the Black Panther Party and the international Black Power mov

ising two children\, becoming a law professor at Yale and Emory Universiti

DESCRIPTION:You Are Not Alone: BUGS!\, curated by Charlotte Woolf\, is a g
 roup exhibition featuring Atlanta-based painters\, sculptors\, photographe
rs\, and multidisciplinary artists. The exhibition reflects the interdisci
plinary nature of the Fine Arts Department at Georgia State University Per
imeter College\, incorporating related programming in theater\, music\, an
d film centered around the theme of insects. \nThe title of the exhibition
\, You Are Not Alone: BUGS!\, is drawn from the popular meme honoring the
ecosystem’s smallest yet irreplaceable members. The exhibition features
artists working across mediums whose practices engage insects and their vi
tal role within ecological systems. Through themes of pollination\, decomp
osition\, labor\, and interdependence\, the show explores how insects shap
e the environments around us\, inviting both artists and viewers to reflec
t on the often-unseen networks sustained by these powerful creatures.

DESCRIPTION:REEL Art: installation Access Point – Work in Progress\nby A
dam Larsen in Collaboration with Sue Schroeder\nAccess Point is a feature
length immersive documentary work in progress that follows individuals wit
h disabilities as they navigate vast and varied natural landscapes. Throug
h intimate interviews and vivid on-the ground footage\, the film explores
often-overlooked barriers to outdoor accessibility—alongside powerful st
ories of resilience\, community\, and empowerment that emerge along the wa
y.\nThe development of the documentary began with a diverse group of parti
cipantsconnected to Bay Area disability organizations\, including Ala Cost
a Centers\, BORP Adaptive Sports and Recreation\, The Center for Independe
nt Living\, The Disability Cultural Center at UC Berkeley\, Friends of L
’Arche San Francisco Bay Area\, Creative Growth\, and NIAD Art Center. T
hese partnerships have provided invaluable insight\, ensuring the film aut
hentically reflects the lived experiences of people across a range of disa
bilities. By featuring participants who are Deaf\, hard of hearing\, blind
\, or who have mobility or cognitive disabilities\, Access Point highlight
s the many ways disability intersects with the natural world. It becomes n
ot just a story of overcoming obstacles\, but also one of the universal hu
man desire to engage with the outdoors—underscoring the transformative p
ower of nature for all. Partnerships and participation in Access Point\nar
e currently expanding\, broadening its reach beyond the Bay Area to commun
ities across the United States.\nAs participants explore outdoor spaces—
from hiking trails and national parks to beaches\, forests\, and rivers—
Access Point reveals the barriers people face\, including limited accessib
ility\, lack of resources\, and social or cultural exclusion. Each partici
pant brings a unique relationship to nature: some are seasoned explorers w
hose access has been constrained\, while others are encountering these lan
dscapes for the first time.\nThrough their experiences\, the film captures
the joy\, reflection\, and sense of empowerment that nature can inspire w
hen inequities in access are addressed. At its core\, Access Point is a st
ory about inclusion\, equity\, and the right to experience the outdoors. I
t asserts that access to nature is a fundamental right not a privilege—
and examines how inaccessible outdoor spaces intersect with broader societ
al inequities. By connecting the disability community with the environment
al movement\,the film emphasizes that inclusive outdoor spaces are essenti
al to a just and equitable society. It encourages a rethinking of how publ
ic spaces are designed and used\, fostering collaboration between environm
ental and disability advocates and sparking a broader conversation about a
ccess\, equity\, and belonging.\nUltimately\, Access Point invites viewers
to reflect on their own relationships to the natural world and to envisio
n a future where outdoor spaces are welcoming to everyone. Through compell
ing storytelling and the beauty of natural landscapes\, the documentary ad
vocates for a world in which nature is a shared space—accessible\, engag
 ing\, and inspiring for all.

DESCRIPTION:Parade is a powerful\, Tony Award-winning musical that explor
es love\, justice\, and the devastating consequences of prejudice in early
twentieth-century America. Set in 1913\, the story follows Leo Frank\, a
Brooklyn-born Jewish factory manager living in Georgia\, who is accused of
the murder of thirteen-year-old factory worker Mary Phagan. As the trial
unfolds amid rising public outrage\, sensationalized media coverage\, and
deep social divisions\, Leo finds himself condemned in the court of public
opinion long before the verdict is delivered. With a book by acclaimed p
laywright Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) and a rousing\, colorful and ha
unting score by Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years\, Bridges of Madis
on County\, Songs For a New World)\, Parade follows Leo as he struggles to
navigate a hostile community and a justice system shaped by fear and poli
tical pressure. As the case intensifies\, his wife Lucille becomes his str
ongest advocate\, finding the courage to stand beside him and fight to cle
ar his name. Both intimate and epic in scope\, Parade combines soaring mu
sic with a deeply human story. The result is a haunting theatrical experie
nce that confronts one of the darkest corners in American history while il
luminating the endurance of love\, hope\, and conviction in the face of ov
erwhelming odds.  Do you have a group of 10+? Call the Box Office at 770

ay workshop - take 1 day or both - your choice!\nSaturday: Developing Blac
 k & White Film - Chip Standifer - 9am-3pm\nSunday: Intro to the Darkroom -
Quintavious Oliver - 10am-3pm\n\nAt the APG Gallery and Darkroom\n\nDevel
oping Black and White Film is a hands-on\, one-day workshop designed for p
hotographers who want a clear\, practical introduction to analog film deve
lopment. Taught by artist Chip Standifer\, this course demystifies the dar
kroom process and gives participants the confidence to develop black and w
hite film on their own.\n\nThe workshop is structured as three hours in th
e morning and two hours in the afternoon\, with a break for lunch. In the
morning session\, participants will cover the fundamentals of black and wh
 ite film\, including exposure considerations\, film types\, chemistry\, eq
uipment\, and darkroom workflow. Chip will walk through each step of the d
evelopment process\, explaining not just how to do it\, but why each step
matters.\n\nAfter lunch\, participants will put theory into practice by de
veloping their own first roll of black and white film. The afternoon sessi
on focuses on hands-on learning\, troubleshooting common issues\, and best
practices for consistency and archival results. By the end of the class\,
participants will leave with a developed roll of film and a solid underst
anding of how to repeat the process independently.\n\nThis workshop is ide
al for beginners with little or no darkroom experience\, as well as digita
l photographers curious about working with film.\n\nINSTRUCTOR: Chip Stand
ifer\n\nAs a well-travelled but odd and disconnected child\, Chip Standife
r was always a keen observer of people\, places and situations. At the age
of 12\, he built a pinhole camera and discovered the delights of creating
images\, developing film\, and the magic of photographic images emerging
from the darkness.  Today\, when travelling the world for fast paced star
tups\, he enjoys the meditative benefits of noticing the beauty everyone e
lse misses as they hustle by.  His images have been juried into multiple
shows at the Atlanta Photography Group\, the Photographer’s Eye Collecti
ve\, The Houston Center for Photography\, the Photo Place Gallery\, the SO
HO Photo Gallery\, the Southeastern Center for Photography\, the Atlanta A
irport\, The 2025 Atlanta Art Fair\, The Marietta Cobb Art Museum\,  the
John’s Creek Art Center\, The Fence Regional Show\, Slow Exposures\, The
Montgomery Photo Festival\, The South By Southeast Gallery\, The Florida

t]Introduction to the Darkroom - Learning how to see and make pictures wit
h your camera is one thing - learning how to make your photographs real by
printing them is another artform\, entirely. To do so by hand is often lo
oked at as something of a meditative\, alchemical\, and spiritual practice
. Inthis Intro To Darkroom class\, you’ll be given the tools to immortal
ize your images on silver gelatin paper through the classical means of bla
ck and white photographic development.\n\nStudents will explore the relati
onship between their film and paper of choice\, various chemistry\, contra
st filters\, and proper darkroom etiquette. This course will be a hands on
an immersive experience for beginners and returning analogue printers ali
ke. Once complete\, students will have a fundamental understanding of dark
room printing concepts as well as how to see and understand print worthy i
mages before raising their camera to expose their film.\n\nChemistry will
be provided.\n\nEach student should bring their own black and white negati
ves and photosensitive paper to print with.\n\nClass will be limited to si
 x students.\n\nINSTRUCTOR: Quintavious Oliver\n\nQuintavius Oliver (b. 198
9 Atlanta\, Ga.) is an Atlanta based fine art and documentary photographer
who uses his engaging and intimate portraits as a means for dynamic story
telling. Acquiring his first camera at the age of six from his grandmother
\, he immediately began to document his ever-expanding world. By his mid-2
0s the self-taught colorblind photographer was making waves in the photogr
aphy community\, landing exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in
Atlanta and the Griffin Museum in Winchester\, MA - all while raising his
daughter as a full-time single father. Quintavius spent much of his early
career straddling the fence between his documentary-style photography in t
he streets of Atlanta and making intimate portraits with friends\, explori
ng sexuality\, fear\, joy\, and identity. His work would eventually expand
to places like India and Cuba where he would explore life in the homes of
individuals and families\, fostering a sense of global community through
photography. Those photographs have since been awarded 1st place in the 20
25 International Photography Awards in Greece\, exhibitions at The Art Gal
lery of Alberta\, Canada\, and even the permanent collections of The Museu
m of Contemporary Art\, Houston TX and the Museum of Contemporary Art\, Ga
. Now\, still with a camera in hand\, Quintavius has made it his mission t
o see and photograph people honestly and wholly as he continues to create
a space for self-expression and vulnerability through his passion for phot
 ography.[/vc_column_text][us_separator size="small"][vc_column_text]\nWork

DESCRIPTION:"Where Being Takes Root: Works by Southern Artists From the La
rry M. and Gwendolyn E. Walker Collection" celebrates the artistic vision\
, mentorship and lasting cultural influence of acclaimed artist\, GSU prof
essor emeritus and former Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design Director
Larry M. Walker (1935–2023)\, whose personal collection of over 300 work
s was gifted to the university following his death.\n\nCurated by Lauren J
ackson Harris\, the exhibition considers the South not merely as a geograp
hic location but as a lived experience that shapes artistic methods and wa
ys of seeing. Drawing from the Walker Collection\, the exhibition presents
works by artists whose practices are deeply rooted in the region’s hist
ory\, culture and environment.\n\nThe exhibition spans two gallery spaces:
a large gallery featuring works from the broader collection\, and an inti
mate gallery dedicated to the Walker family. Artists on view include Charl
es White\, Radcliffe Bailey\, Kevin Cole\, Bethany Collins\, Benny Andrews
\, David Driskell\, Steve Prince and Kara Walker\, among many others\, and
luminaries who were friends\, colleagues and mentees of Larry Walker thro
ughout his remarkable career.\n\nThe exhibition is generously supported by
Forward Arts Foundation and the David\, Helen\, and Marian Woodward Fund.

tarist can reflect on a journey in which he has planted flags across the m
usical sphere and played every role imaginable. He’s been the driving fo
rce behind Sixties icons Procol Harum. The transatlantic solo star who fil
led US stadiums with 1974’s Bridge Of Sighs. The collaborator and occasi
onal supergroup member. The elder-statesman songwriter whose late period s
 till crackles with invention.
