DESCRIPTION:Pour a drink and duck for cover — domestic bliss is about to
get messy. \nMeet Felix: impeccably pressed\, emotionally distressed\, an
d suddenly single. Meet Oscar: charmingly rumpled\, habitually late\, and
blissfully allergic to coasters. When Felix moves in with his old pal Osca
r after a marital meltdown\, neatness meets nonsense\, and the sparks fly.
\nAshtrays overflow\, tempers flare\, and laughter fills the living room
in Neil Simon’s effervescent comedy of friendship\, forgiveness\, and th
e fine art of driving each other crazy. \nThe Odd Couple is a classic coc
ktail of chaos and charm. Proof that opposites attract… so long as they
 don’t share a kitchen. \nEvent Times: 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM

DESCRIPTION:Exhibition of vintage photographs by Evon Streetman. \nEvon S
treetman is a seminal figure in Southern photography whose experimental ap
proach helped define the trajectory of contemporary photo-based art in the
region. Initially trained as a painter\, she was an early pioneer in inco
rporating painterly processes and handwork into her photographs. She embra
ces the materiality of the photographic surface through interventions such
as hand-coloring\, airbrushing\, and the application of gold and silver l
eaf. Her images often blur the line between documentation and transformati
on\, evoking a sense of place that is both intimate and enigmatic. \nStree
tman’s work emerged alongside a broader movement of artists who redefine
d photography as a fine art medium\, including Clarissa Sligh\, William Ch
ristenberry\, and Eugene Meatyard. Like her contemporaries\, Streetman’s
work explores memory and place\, remaining deeply rooted in the Southern
landscape. \nIn addition to her artistic practice\, Streetman was an impac
tful educator. She assisted in developing the photography curriculum at Fl
orida State University and later founded the photography program at the Pe
nland School of Craft. Her work remains a standard in the study of alterna
tive photographic practices and the visual culture of the American South.

DESCRIPTION:Grandfather Mountain is an amazing diversity hotspot for breed
ing birds in the southern Appalachians with more than 120 species detected
during the nesting season. From warblers to hawks to hummingbirds\, migra
tion is a wondrous period of the year for birders and nature enthusiasts a
like. Taught by Steve Dowlan\, a retired natural resource specialist for t
he U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management\, this course provide
s the opportunity to visit several locations on the mountain to learn abou
t the diversity of migrants\, the timing and mechanics of migration\, and
hopefully see dozens of species using Grandfather as a staging area on the
ir long flights to Central and South America. Our classroom program will t
ake a deeper dive into the science of migration and some of the technology
unlocking the secrets of bird movement. Registration opens online on July

DESCRIPTION:Nine weavers from throughout Western North Carolina collaborat
ed on a tapestry honoring the Blue Ridge Mountains. Susan Gaire came to ot
her female weavers in Western North Carolina with an idea: Collaborate on
a single image\, with each artist weaving her own personality into their p
anel of the tapestry. This piece was designed in early 2025\, and weaving
took place between October 2025 and March 2026. Weavers were given a gener
al color palette\, size guidelines\, and the placement of the three ridgel
ines that run continuously across the piece\, but otherwise had full creat
ive freedom to decide materials\, technique and embellishment. The result
is a nine-panel artwork that tells nine chapters of the same story. This
one-of-a-kind\, 7-foot-wide tapestry\, inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountain
 s. \nAlong with Gaire\, participating weavers are Jacqueline Fay\, Jenny Z
 ia\, Kathy DeOrnellas\, Anne Berg\, Kathy Dennison\, Madelaine Hairrell\,
Stephanie Lyon\, and Betty Hilton-Nash. \nLearn more about this exquisite

The Southern Appalachian Mountain region hosts an interesting combination

DESCRIPTION:(FREE) John Davis Held will be available to share his process
in creating original oil and pastel paintings\, as he probes the extraordi
nary and sacred mystery in his work. \nIn his many travels\, John spent se
veral months living in an African Hut before hitch-hiking across Europe to
paint the cathedrals\, castles\, and countryside. John’s oil paintings
are strongly influenced by the Hudson River School\, the Luminism movement
\, and the masters of the Renaissance. His pastels\, with their beautiful
pure pigments\, are like no other artist’s. All of his work is known for
having a strong sense of light and peace. He currently draws inspiration
from the wildlife in Western North Carolina which include visiting bears\,
extraordinary birds\, his beautiful wife\, and their four cats.

DESCRIPTION:Asheville Transplants\n**Grab the mic (or just cheer) — kara
oke night in East Asheville.**\n\nThe Social on Tunnel Road runs karaoke e
very Saturday night\, and we're claiming a corner of the room for the Tran
splants crew. Sing\, heckle kindly\, or just sit back with a burger and a
drink and watch strangers become friends over a shared chorus. Zero singin
 g ability required — genuinely.\n\n**The Plan:**\n\n• 8:30 PM — Meet
at The Social (1078 Tunnel Rd). Look for the Asheville Transplants group
 — we'll grab a cluster of tables before the room fills up.\n\n• 8:30
–9:00 PM — Order food and drinks\, say hello\, and start scheming song
choices.\n\n• 9:00 PM — Karaoke kicks off. Put your name in whenever
 you're ready (or never — no pressure).\n\n• 11:30 PM — Official wrap
. Karaoke runs until 1:00 AM\, so stay as long as you like.\n\n**What to K
now:**\n\n• No cover charge for karaoke — everyone pays for their own
food and drinks.\n\n• The Social is a full bar and kitchen (burgers are
their thing)\, open until 2:00 AM on Saturdays. Come hungry.\n\n• Non-al
coholic options are available — feel free to grab a soda or not drink an
ything at all. No pressure either way.\n\n• Free on-site parking in the
lot\, so you're not hunting for street spots.\n\n• It's on Tunnel Road i
n East Asheville — about 10 minutes from downtown\, easy drive or ridesh
are.\n\n• Singing is completely optional. Some of us are here purely to
applaud.\n\n**Why This Event:**\n\nKaraoke is one of the fastest ways to s
kip past small talk — nothing bonds a table like collectively deciding s
omeone has to do "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Whether you just landed in
Asheville or have been here a while\, come solo or bring a friend. We'll s
ave you a seat and a spot in the queue.
